I really love that during this entire episode the women kept speaking up against all the arrogant men around them! It’s just so amazing to see how they’re all growing their own voice and opinions, especially on matters that are reeking of sexism, classicm or just plain coldheartedness. I hope they’ll all continue down this road and won’t be silenced again.
Also, it doesn’t hurt that I love to see Robert be put in his place. God knows how much this man deserves it
Well, this was the final nail in the coffin for me: I despise Lord Grantham with all my being.
Cora is absolutely right; Sybil is dead because him and Sir Philip were too arrogant to admit that Doctor Clarkson knew better. Their dominant stubbornness killed Sybil. Robert killed his own goddamn daughter because he refused to listen to the doctor, all so he wouldn’t offend Sir Philip. And all because he didn’t want to listen to any medical explanations as he thought it was “vulgar” to discuss the female body.
And when she died? He didn’t even shed a tear. He didn’t even really seem to care. He’s a horridly selfish and utterly disgusting person. I can’t believe I used to love him in the first season, because he’s been a prideful, narcissistic, sexist, selfish pig for a while now. But this final act of him causing Sybil’s death really killed just any love I might have still had for him. I’m just done with him.
This episode is so beautiful, it has every ingredient to make it amazing.
Rewatching this whole show, I kept thinking (don't read ahead if this is your first watch, I mean it) that Mary looking at Matthew did bring bad luck. I'll never get over that twist
Great episode, but it really bugs me that this is classed as a 'special'. This is a straight-up episode of Downton Abbey, only longer. Starting season 3 without watching this first would be entirely wrong, so much would be missed. Special episodes should be stand-alone and shouldn't impact the overall plot/direction of a show going forwards.
Again, fantastic episode, but by no means is this a 'special' episode.
Well, damn. Robert sure has fallen from his pedestal… I always used to say he was a noble man of integrity, but I don’t really think he is anymore. He’s a very bad and oftentimes neglectful father to his daughters, and I’m afraid he always has been, but now he’s an unfaithful husband too…
It’s like he can only live in a world where he is the centre of attention and admiration. He can’t survive without everyone dancing around him, clamoring for his respect and good favour. He might actually be a very insecure and petty man… Which comes as a major disappointment because I really did value him a lot in the first season as a man of supposed great honour and fairness.
Violet really cracks me up 24/7, but she also has such good heart <3
I honestly just love her so much:heart:
On another note, I genuinely hate Branson so much!! This man is the worst of the worst. He’s the biggest red flag in the entire show and he actually creeps me out. I will never understand why the show wasted a character as lovely and charming as Sybil on a possessive, narcissistic, toxic, self-centred low-life such as him:rolling_eyes:
Nah, I’m sorry, but Branson is literally such a major red flag. He’s incredibly pushy and self-assured; his pursuit of Sybil hasn’t in the least bit been romantic or gentle. He’s basically just said “you’re in love with me” and called it a day. Nothing in Sybil’s actions should have let him to make such bold statements, but he did so anyway, and he’s gaslighting her into agreeing with him.
But honestly? What has he really done that’s been so great that she should leave her family, friends and life for him? He’s been pretty aggressive in the way he’s talked to her, he’s demeaned all of her hard work she’s done as a nurse, and he’s just been all-around unpleasant. I truly cannot stand him, actually. And Sybil certainly deserves much better…
Just because he’s from a low social class that doesn’t mean he’s suddenly a good person. If one of the nobles talked like he did, we’d all hate him! But now suddenly people love him? Just because he’s poor? I don’t get it.
So I'm supposed to feel bad for Edith because she won't be able to sneak around with a married man anymore? And to think she had the audacity to call Mary a slut for what happened with Pamuk...
i mean if they blow up the bomb they never get to the island so they never blow up the bomb and at some point they crash on the island... they're fucking up the timeline
CGI trying to make people look younger still sucks! Please just stop trying until it works better.
This is by far the most interesting episode in terms of story and also character depth. It's the first time I really cared about these characters.
The soundtrack is fantastic. All those songs from the Fallout games. Having fun so far!
I relate to the brother character the most as i would be too short too scrawny and too chicken to be of any use in an emergency situation, better off just putting me in a steel box until it all blows over
I'm so done with Jack ALWAYS treating Kate like shit and making her cry and feel guilty... He's such an asshole
Jack is such a tool! This is my second watching of 'Lost' and whilst the first time round I had the impression he was a good guy; when you actually watch this show fluidly, no breaks, he really is a pain in the ass. His constant put downs, bad temper flaring all the time, talking to people in a hostile way and shouting when he doesn't get what he wants.
He's my number 1 most annoying islander
She got me with the phone, not gonna lie.
no, i don’t carry my vagina with me all the time. that would be too inappropriate. :drum:
Any episode that focuses on Desmond are the best Lost episodes ever. This was amazing and brilliant.
Every single Desmond episode is fantastic.
Oh, awesome, the ship sent us another Sawyer.
That was hilarious XD
P.S. What a twist at the end of the episode, I didn't expect that at all!! Ben with Sayied in a flashforward, really WTF!
WHY MUST THERE BE SO MANY TWISTS, TURNS, DOUBLE-CROSSINGS, NAMES?! JUST TOOOOOO TOO TOO MUCH!
Jack continues to annoy me...
"youre gonna die, charlie" YESSSS!!! :tada::tada::tada::confetti_ball::dancer:YESSSSS!!! YAYYYY
It feels like the writers threw a bunch of random ideas to see what sticks. It's frustrating
