not going to lie, i,m seriously worried about the direction the show is going in, not because we have a female doctor now, but because its pretty obvious that the BBC only cast her for political reasons. as long as they don,t keep constantly reminding us that she is a woman and they refrain from male bashing every chance they get, i,m ok with it, but i don,t trust the BBC to do the right thing

They picked Jodie because Chibnall has worked with her and knows what an exceptional actress she is. Nothing to do with 'political correctness'

@felixgotrek whats the problem with it, it hasn't even been released yet.
This episode reminds us that The Mandalorian is a Disney product.
The Mandalorian for no reason became soft and sentimental. The only reason possible for this change is the "cute factor" shown more to the audience than the character, just like a Disney show would do. For someone who is supposed to be on this sort of job for a while, breaking a guild code just for some random child is a stupid thing to do - especially for someone who is supposed to uphold honor. The hostiles - supposedly trained soldiers and mercenaries - are nothing but incompetent mooks. Other Mandalorians show up as deus ex machina, almost feels like they are there just so Disney can sell more toys.
There is no build up. Everything in this episode is self-contained. From the appearances of other Mandalorian to the whistling bird, it's all used vulgarly in this episode.
This episode is such a huge let down. And we're still on the third episode.

Do you really got a so straight and narrow interpretation of the main character choices? Did he took the kid only out of empathy or sentimentalism? Maybe he didn't liked the idea of the Empire toying with that unknown power like the ones he saw? Didn't that scene in the Mandalorian foundry hint at some strong code to honor in the Mandalorian hlture that goes beyond the simple mercenary work? Didn't that flashback of Mando childhood memories, suggest that he may feel a personal connection with a lonely kid being victim of the empire conflicts, even with that last image of child Mando hiding in a box to match the baby Yoda cradle image?
Is just Disney. Wow. That's it? I mean sure it is, is just a sci-fi action show not trascendental philosophy. But man... such oversimplifications make me wonder what's the point in trying to build more complex characters, when even the average audience got so monodimensional and just keeps seeing only what they want to see..even when they do not like it..
I finally figured out the writing style of the show. Lots of good stuff at start of an episode. Big action scene at end of episode. And middle filled with useless & boring stuff.
loading replies
@d0ndada middle is boring? Was some great character building in this one!
To some extent, the makers of Doctor Who could foresee today's problems with the coronavirus, of course there are important differences but at the beginning of the episode it felt like they predicted exactly what is happening nowadays, later on in the ep, the differences became more pronounced. I did not like the gay romance thing, it was too much of the LGBT ideology's intrusion in the show. For some time, Doctor Who has been too soaked in the LGBT propaganda, which worsened the quality of the writing. I know representation is important but it is usually limited to the more left-wing beliefs and ideas, to the exclusion of more conservative world-view. I believe representation could include all varieties and diversities, not only the left-wing ones.

@ladysherlockian "LGBT ideology" ah yes, the big scary set of rules that all of us gays adhere to. I'm still waiting for the bigots who are always going on about it to tell me what exactly this mysterious "ideology" comprises. Is going grocery shopping with my girlfriend a part of it? Are we somehow destroying the heterosexual agenda by holding hands in public?
Also sorry to break it to you sweetie but the left didn't magically invent gay people and there are in fact - horrified gasp - conservative gays as well, idk how that fits into your bullshit :/

I miss this type of episodes in Star Trek, I'm glad to see it brought back. Not only that, this was a good way to end the arc of the doctor and his daughter, neatly tied to the book too.
I hope this is not the end of the his daughter's story and they'll revisit her in the next seasons. There are questions to be answered and possibilities to explore regarding the nebula. Was it something like the Prophets in DS9? Time is irrelevant? But they're stuck in one place?
Who knows. But I for one would like to know more about it.
Thank you. I love this episode.

@youronlyone "Here Here!". I thought exactly the same thing. Anyone that is complaining that this was a lame episode, is definitely not a fan of TOS or TNG or even DS9. This episode finally gave me the sense of this series being capable of some good old fashioned Trek goodness. This is my favorite episode of all 8 so far. Hands Down. :vulcan:
I gave this series a 10/10 for the first 3 seasons, but could only watch 20 minutes of episode 1, season 4 before being completely disinterested and bored. Even the "previously" on.." didn't bring me up to speed on what was going on from season 3. It's only been a couple of months since I watched season 3. Something to be said for binge-watching a series after its ended.

@speeddemon how the fuck is this a valid reason to drop and rate it 2?! the other seasons were also slow to unravel the story, how the hell did you survived through those and still rate it a 10/10?!...this is surely the most pathetic and moronic comment I've seen on this platform... if you were truly invested in this show you would've given it a fair chance by finishing at least the first 2 or 3 episodes...
Thankfully that's over!
... And the whole Spock eyebrow thing, how forced was That! I don't think that I can remember seeing him do that before.
And the whole finale thing... really, is that what's happening? There are people that will like this show, I don't understand how, but it's up to them. Taste is a personal matter, and subjective, but if there is any hope for this show, they have to get some writers that have some actual sci-fi passion and comprehension.
If there's a season two I hope y'all enjoy it.

@kanootcha Wait what? And what's next? Are you gonna tell me that Hitler was not killed of by River Song? Or that winston churchill never used Daleks? That Vincent Van Goghs Sunflower Picture is not "for Amy" or his cause of madness was not the end of the tardis by the end of times? Well. Guess you are in fact new to television and the way of directional freedom and writers liberty. Just a hint: this is NOT a Noor Inayat Khan Biography or something with the goal to get things shown as they were. This Show NEVER was - except for the concept prior to the first season... ditched over 50 years ago. Glad this finally reaches you.... now have fun, just a mild spoiler: Hitler might not have been killed of in a france Cinema, even though Inglourious Bastards showed it, and a Fridge might not help against a nuclear bomb... but who am I to tell you this, you might up ending up downwoting and correcting those movies next...

I'm bored with all these alien planets that mimic Earth. The first time, this was maybe fun. This time they put more effort into the world since it merges modern and ancient elements of Earth history. Thus it's not an exact copy but it still feels very repetitive. Parallels don't end here. Again we encounter a Starfleet captain gone rogue; again they are incarcerated; again they need to escape; again they are forced to fight in an arena; again Spock and his fellow comrades haggle 'cause Spock remains calm in incarceration; again the crew back on the Enterprise is supposed to not interfere and this again squanders valuable time while the shore party needs help; again Scotty does the right thing and ignores the order not to interfere; again we encounter a half-naked (slave) girl entertaining Kirk (Kirk refrains from exploiting her for once though - that's a first). As an action episode it's okay; overall it's very mediocre.
Rhodes Reason is great though.
PS: In the cold-open, why is the Captain wearing his Start Trek badge 90° rotated slightly above his belt? Is that new or did I miss that before?

@vortilion if you don't like what I write, then don't read it . What are you saying? You can't know whether you disagree with my comment before you have read it? See? I rest my case. Hard to tell what episode I like before watching it. And some of them are actually quite good.
I only have one question, how does Kirk justifies the whereabout of the Commissioner to the Federation?
loading replies
@qstar-inc the last line of this episode completely sums up how ridiculous this story is. Kirk should've been fired immediately.
Villanelle's facial expressions at the toy store with all that children are the same ones I make when I'm surrounded by little kids lol :joy:
This episode was pure gold. The scene in the bus caught me unprepared, at first I thought Eve was hallucinating, but the fighting reassured me and then everything happened so fast. Villanelle's "smell me" had me burst into laughter and the next second there's pure shock. I honestly didn't expect the kiss to happen so early in the season or in this season at all. And then that head-butt, so much was going on at once  Clearly Eve is way more obsessed with V than I thought.
The waiting for the next episode is killing me. :)loading replies
@ana993 Same here. I thought it was a dream or hallucination until Eve actually walked into the office. I was very surprised and like "wow...so that happened" right afterwards. I didn't even expect them to meet that early! Let's see where this season takes us
