It’s a strange one, certainly original. I didn’t think it started well, it even seemed a bit silly. But, I’m glad I’ve kept watching, as it’s growing on me and I find the concept interesting.
It’s thought provoking in a way, considering the basics of the story and how the world would be in such a situation. It’s something I’ve never given thought too.
I don’t particularly understand the sexual scenes or the relevance to why it’s part of the story, it just seems stupid to think they’d use sexual pleasure as a way to pray or communicate to god. It’s weird and unnecessary.
I’ve watched 3 and as much as I’ve enjoyed it, I think the storyline maybe predictable. However, I do still love the basic concept and the thought in to how the world would adapt and progress under those circumstances.
Looking forward to watching more and hope my initial thoughts of being predictable are proven wrong; it’s still early days.
very good show, I hope we get season 2 with more than 6 episodes.
I wish I could give it a 10 (which I very very rarely do) -Season one is excellent in every aspect but one:
The timeline is blurry and confusing as f***.
Events taking place decades apart are only put into their place by a character dropping that something happened three decades ago in passing.
Normally that wouldn't be an issue, but most characters don't age!
I am still a bit confused as to why the bard doesn't age, since he seems to be human (I'm at Episode 6, so I hope they do explain it in one of the last episodes, but I doubt it)
That combinations makes it really hard to keep track of what happened before, what happened after and what happens at the same time.
P.S.: I don't know the books, so I have no idea if they had the same problems.
I took a look at the descriptions for the books though and some elements seem to coincide with the first prequel book. So I assume they are meshing prequel and original books together somehow.
Nope. Just nope.
First, too soon. We're still in a middle of a pandemic.
Acting sucks, editing sucks.
As a Stephen King fanatic, this is just offensive. The mini-series with Gary Sinise was awesome, but this is just surfing the pandemic/heard hype.
The plot is not good; it's cheap and uses very offensive stereotypes, but is some of the best military porn I have ever seen.
I found the main actress very weak, like she didn't belong in there, the immersion wasn't present. And the clichés about white people doing stupid things in thriller/horrors movies are true in the show, it's disappointing
I enjoyed it. In contrast to some other series the changes from the book worked really well. It’s not often that these kind of political correctness works without damaging the spirit.
Hopefully they will make a second season (from the ending it might be 20.000 leagues under the sea).
I actually liked it?? It’s super silly and not at all a “mature” comedy but it’s great for those days you want to watch something light and not to think at all, lol. I’m currently on ep 5 and will probably finish the season. It’s not an elaborate show, but its kinda fun???
I saw the original series, not sure how to take this series!
Well well, what an easy liking tv show. Light and passionate. Beautiful picture and pretty good actors. It's like a movie you watch on the weekend when it's raining lol. Really enjoying this show
I honestly didn't think this show was going to be any good....but damn was I proven wrong. Absolutely love the storyline, characters, and dynamics of the show. Seriously folks, do not pass this one up. Super entertaining and funny with plenty of action!
Should have been a mini series. Never goes anywhere, really. It's a show where it's all about the way not the goal.
But that way became monotone and repetitious, you were able to fast forward many parts of the later episodes without losing any context or progress. It was dragging on for far too long around the middle. Cut this short to 4-5 episodes and it could have told the same story without much lost.
It does have an end that is being build up to where we all knew it would go even if we had a sliver of "hope" for Strauss still. But there's really no surprise either, even with the "growth" of the killer.
The Auschwitz parts felt out of place and were weird in the context they were used. It's too minimalistic, incredibly slow, too monotone, too predictable. Even with a great performance by Carell this was really not worth its time.
Be patient b4 writing off this show! I almost stopped watching after three eps, and it has at least three levels of humour:
1. the very obvious, almost slapstick style.
2. darker, more British, slow burn style, that it took me a few episodes to tune into, underneath #1
3. more in your face, a combination of the above two, still kind of subtle, almost ironic commentary on small town life & discrimination- sexism, racism, classism, homophobia, heteronormality and probably more;...
cos I was busy writing it off for the level 1 humour, which is in itself perhaps a fourth level of humour - In small town Aussie life it is the crazy larger than life characters and attitudes that take up all the space.
Perhaps it tries to be too many things. work at too many levels, but it is rewarding at different levels too, if you give it a chance
I had reservations to watch this but it got interesting half way through. The main story line is good.
I swear I tried but I can't!
Weak characters and performances, almost caricatures!
S4 - Weak, I cant watch this show anymore. the storyline moves so slow and Rebecca is annoying, they all are. same demons, same problems, different episode number. this drama has fizzled imo.
I tried to watch it early on and quit without remorse, but heard it got better around season 3; so I tried to start watching again, and it turns out you can fool me twice. Very surprised the show has survived so long.
Totally fucking hilarious!
This show is full of horrible people with severe daddy issues. Fitz is a putz, thinking his penis is a flagpole and anywhere he sticks it he's claimed as his for the glory of the republic.
OMG this writing on this show is superb best story telling in a long time to come along. It will make you laugh and cry and that was only the first episode. I am not even going to spoil this because you have to watch the story and you will be amazed how this story is told.
I disagree about the series going nowhere because it is a crime drama. I believe it develops slowly through the episodes and, by the end of the season, you'll realize its plot has gone very far. Each season ends in a very turbulent place and the next one starts with the emotional consequences of the previous. Character growth is brilliant.
I shouldn't have watched the entire season in one day but I regret nothing
