“Teach me to tap dance, Beverly Crusher!”
Another winner! Lower Decks continues to impress.
It's always great to hear familiar voices, and Rom (Max Grodènchik) and Leeta (Chase Masterson) were two of my favourites from DS9. The baseball references, the grand nagus staff, the trip to Ferenginar, Quark's name in lights... yeah, this episode was extra special. I like this Staff Writer Ben Waller guy. :)
Once again, Lower Decks takes a DEEP DIVE into Past Trek shows, and pulls out another winner.
I am starting to think that, unlike "Star Trek Picard", we are going to see Trek Reunions in animation, more than in live action. Which is fine - the actors are starting to look like Kirk' crew, circa the early 90s, but with animation, it means they can look like they've aged only a few years. Plus, we can get characters from the past (Like what they did with Prodigy) return and get updated storylines.
Not to mention, if SNW ever is cancelled (perish the thought), we know that animated can come in to the rescue.
As usual, fun as hell to get legacy characters (DS9 in this case) involved with our Lower Deckers.
Honestly, boring - nothing we haven't seen dozens of time before... why I'm still watching? Because every once in a while there's an outstanding episode. But the last one of those has been quite a while ago.
Classic "I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him scene" in the beginning. It's a Western after all.
Most of the time, this episode has nothing to do with the Fett story, but that's a good thing I presume. I don't really understand how all that Mandalorian and his foster child story could be related to the main story. But man, I could watch that little thing exercise all day. The Grogu part is just beautiful. As a stand alone episode it's actually wicked enjoyable.
OMG OMG OMG that was some of the best star wars since return of the jedi. PURE AMAZING. PERIOD.
I've been thinking for 30 minutes how to review this without spoilers but I'm as giddy as a 10 year old right now. Simply shell shocked. This was pure pleasure for any Star Wars fan, just go watch it (again)
“Well they’re all back together. I hope I survive long enough to see the outcome.” Best line. Love DT
Christopher Lloyd AND Jack Black in Star Wars? I didn't realize it was my birthday already.
What a beautiful planet. I expect it to get absolutely fucked up by Gideon/Thrawn before this is over.
Wonderful culmination of a whole host of spin-offs.
The bit at the end leaves hope for something more.
In case anyone is interested allow me to complete the limerick that data started and never finished.
There once was a lady from Venus
Who's body was shaped like a penis
When First Contact was made
The crew were dismayed
When she told them her species and genus
Live long and prosper.
Pushing at boundaries, always. Greys Anatomy has always been good at this. This episode calls attention to the horrible things happening to women in the US when it comes to obstetrics/gynaecology. When people believe it’s not a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her own body, it’s wrong. So wrong. When women are targeted with violence because they choose to have an abortion or because they are a doctor or nurse who helps women with an abortion, it’s evil.
You want to tell a woman she had to have a child, yet don’t help her if she does go through with if she needs it. It’s all disgusting.
A damned near perfect pilot that sets up the characters and dynamic beautifully while telling a great self-contained story.
I hate how I still watch this shit show
I found it comical in the beginning when they were about to start searching door to door for who might have lost a hand, and the start of the song that they start playing first says, "I can make your hands clap".
Im not against gay people but this is getting ridiculous! Every show im watching this year is very gay
Does anybody really care about Zola's issues? Now we've chewed on Meredith's issues ad nauseam we get treated to her daughter's issues?
The best thing about this episode? Leia!Bailey.
The idea to add a sign language musical number was both very creative and a really lovely gesture. It made me curious about deaf-people ways of experiencing music. The girl was certainly very emotive during her rendition of Fight Song, she really portrayed what I feel when I listen to the song, and for me, the melody is a big part of that, not only the lyrics.
Regarding the love triangle, I'm torn. On on side, I'm team Max, but even though I want him to get what he wants, I'm very much not convinced Zoey is the right girl for him. I don't think the reciprocity is there. On the other side, there's Simon. They do have a very profound emotional connection, but I can't help but wonder if they're confusing that closeness and comfort for something it isn't. After all, not all love is romantic love. I think she very much loves both guys, I'm just not sure she's in love with either of them.
And this, dear writers of contemporary Star Trek, is how you handle a topic like that.
I'm, sadly, not surprised about the rating (68 % at the time of writing) and some comments in regards to this episode. To each his own but I thouroghly enjoyed it.
It was past overdue that Klyden left the ship. I never liked him but there was no way after this he could have stayed. Don't think we've seen the last of him.
Bortus still hasn't performed "My Heart Will Go On"
I am still thoroughly enjoying the subtitles.
Wet squelch.
Ominous music.
Wet popping.
Discomforting audio distortion.
Intense synth music continues.
they're right... blip is a funny word
I really had to stop and write a comment about my favourite 3 lettered word, WTF , does it really mean Wireless Telecommunications Facility? :P That cracked the hell out of me laughing XDD
On the other hand, I really feel bad about Gordan, he is so lonely.
Damn that guy can sing hella good.
[Keyali] This has to be the most insane thing that's ever happened on this ship
[LaMarr] One time I almost died 'cause I humped a statue.
[Malloy] Isaac once cut my leg off.
[LaMarr] The captain and commander, they got put in a zoo.
[Malloy] And Bortus almost crashed the ship 'cause of porn.
[Keyali] I see.
The thing I'm gonna miss most about this show is watching Julia Garner as Ruth. One of the most phenomenal performances ever.
