Holy shit. This is officially one of my favorite episodes of the show ever.
That whole thing with one of the Inhumans being infected was exceptionally well played. Elena seemed to be an obvious choice because of her injury, then Lincoln totally made sense too because of his previous encounter with Hive. I think my heart stopped for a second when it turned out to be Daisy. I really, really did not see that coming, which I suppose was the whole point. Next week we'll see her working with Hive and you can practically hear the SkyeWard shippers rising from the shadows. They don't even care that he's a creepy ancient parasite occupying a dead body and she's possessed by him. It freaks me out that there are people out there who still root for these two.
Fitzsimmons were in the same room together! And they didn't argue! And neither one of them cried! They were actually, genuinely happy for a few minutes before everything went to hell again! When was the last time we heard Jemma laugh? When did Fitz last make a joke? That entire scene was perfect and I'm pretty sure that it extended my life expectancy by several years.
Wow, they can't have 5 minutes of peace and quiet, can they?
Kara's speech gave me chills. This is the kind of thing that I watch Supergirl for. Messages of hope, positvity, courage, kindness and love. I often think that I would've loved Supergirl if it had been on TV when I was a kid. Sure, I love it now too, but 10-year-old me would have been thrilled with a role model like Kara or Alex.
Kara and Winn are adorable, my God. I don't ship them, but I kind of understand people who do.
KARA AND CAT! * screams for 1000 years * I love them! And Kara's got her own office now! I feel strangely proud. It's like watching a baby bird fly for the first time.
Kara and Alex break my heart. Familial relationships are often neglected in favor of romantic ones, but these two are, thankfully, not the case. They had some great scenes in this episode and I could just watch them forever. There's so much love between them.
Kara and J'onn, a.k.a. Alien Puppy and Space Dad kicking ass together was great to watch. J'onn literally ripping Indigo in half was freaking hardcore. The scene with Kara and Non shooting heat vision at each other must have been awkward to film: two people staring very intensely at each other and screaming.
I just want them to announce season 2. I can't handle not knowing. I need more Supergirl in my life! I had no idea how attached I'd get to the characters when I started watching the show, but here we are.
Probably one of my favourite episodes this season. Partly because James was only there for 5 seconds and he wasn't even himself. Why, oh, why did Kara save him?
Maxwell Lord is annoying as hell. Another villain with a tragic backstory that ultimately doesn't justify all the shit he's done. I still haven't forgotten that you created Red Kryptonite, dude. You made Kara cry. I don't like you.
Cat Grant talking about Harrison Ford was one of the best moments in this episode. I liked her speech on the balcony - yes, it was cheesy, as is the whole show, but it was a good kind of cheesiness. Family-friendly, heartwarming cheesiness. But if the writers are really trying to convince me that this brilliant journalist doesn't know that Kara and Supergirl are the same person, then I don't believe them for a second. It makes no sense for Cat not to know. She's too smart for that.
Kara and Alex fighting? Jesus Christ, my heart. I think I might actually die next week. Their relationship is definitely my favourite on the show and watching them trying to kill each other will be super painful. I'm not ready.
Why does Non have a British accent? All the other Kryptonians we've seen so far sound very much American. Why does the bad guy always have to be British?
It seems that Supergirl has figured out how to balance all aspects of a superhero TV show. Action, drama, humor, suspense - this episode had it all and I'm really excited about the season finale. It's hard to believe how much the show has changed and improved since the Pilot. Now I'll have to build a shrine and offer a sacrifice to the Dark Lord and his minions in hell because I really want a second season and CBS is taking its sweet time announcing the renewal, which makes me extremely nervous.
My two favorite TV superheroes teaming up and kicking ass? What's not to love?
I really enjoyed Kara and Barry's interactions. They work well together and have easy, natural chemistry that makes them delightful to watch. Also, they are ridiculously adorable and funny. I couldn't help but grin like a maniac the whole episode.
Siobhan and Leslie were just big enough of a threat to make the action scenes interesing. Never mind that it apparently took Siobhan about 2 seconds to master her new abilities of which she'd been unaware all her life. Her makeup and hair were pretty ridiculous, but they were probably based on her comic book look, so I won't complain.
Cat Grant is flawless. I feel like I'm repeating myself, but she is just amazing. Her one-liners are hilarious ("You look like the attractive, yet non-threatening, racially diverse cast of a CW show"). It was nice to see her more vulnerable, motherly side during the park scene. And at this point I'm 99.9% certain that she knows about Kara. If she doesn't, the writers are just insulting her intelligence.
Kara earning the city's forgiveness was actually quite touching, even though it was a pretty cheesy moment. Still, I can handle some cheesiness as long as this golden retriever of a person is happy.
Can James just go away, please? Or, like, I don't know, die? Sacrifice himself Eddie-style in the season finale? I honestly don't care. Just make him disappear. He's useless, his only purpose this episode was to be jealous of Barry, he can't even move his face. Why can't Kara just be single? And if they really insist on putting her in a romantic relatioship, there are a billion better options than goddamn James. Get your shit together, writers. This episode would've been a perfect 10 for me had it not been for that awful forced romance. At least stop pretending that they have chemistry. Seriously, even if they had any, how could Barry possibly have noticed it? He spent like 10 seconds with James. I don't think I've ever been so frustrated with a pairing.
A lot of intense stuff in this episode. I loved it.
I very much enjoyed the flashbacks and all the little pieces of backstory: J'onn becoming Hank and Jeremiah's involvement, Alex's wild days, Kara and Alex's difficult start (I'd love to see how their relationship progressed from there and how they eventually grew so close together) and Kara's beginnings at CatCo.
We also got Kara Danvers, a precious ray of sunshine who may or may not be a puppy in disguise, riding a motorcycle, clad in black. Unexpected, but very, very cool.
Lucy's finally in the loop, thank God. Also, she's back. I half-expected them to get rid of her now that her role as a third wheel in James and Kara's 'love story' has ended, but it's nice to see her again, without her dull boyfriend stuck to her side at all times.
Siobhan's a bitch (and she apparently has the most annoying superpower ever), Cat's flawless and Alex's a badass and the best human being on the face of this planet, but what else is new?
Overall, it was a solid episode, character-focused, which is what Supergirl does best. I'm very excited about the crossover with The Flash next week.
Melissa Benoist is just unbelievable. It seems that whatever the writers throw at her, she pulls it off with ease.
This show has definitely improved since the pilot and this episode was great. Right now, Supergirl is probably my favorite superhero TV show, next to The Flash and Agents of SHIELD, mostly because of the characters and some great character dynamics. Kara/Alex, Alex/J'onn and Kara/Cat are all wonderful relationships and there were some nice emotional scenes in this episode for each one of them. Kara's speech at the end of the episode was super touching and beautiful.
The only thing I really dislike about this show is the awkward trainwreck of a relationship between Kara and James. No matter what the writers do to convince me that these two are crazy in love with each other, there's just nothing there. No spark, no chemistry, no romantic tension, no genuine affection. Even their friendship seems forced. Maybe it's because James is the most boring character on the show. He's dull, he has zero personality and the fact that he's being reduced to a love interest doesn't help him at all. Sometimes I think that he could be replaced by a lifeless piece of wood and I honestly wouldn't notice. Every other character brings something to the table. James is just... there.
