On one hand i liked the movie. It created great atmosphere, the story and world are simple yet interesting. I love the play by Lena Headey (Ma-Ma), i think that she is the strong point of the movie. Conceptually, I really enjoyed the implementation of telepathy and the use of it by Cassandra Anderson (played by Olivia Thirlby). The scene where is goes to into Kay's head (Wood Harris) and messes with him just made me love her :).
On other hand, what i really did not like, were the costumes (e.i. Judge Dredd was comical with his helmet, or the Judge's motorcycles). I think that for a movie in made in 2012 they looked like from cheap sfi-fi movies in 80's or 90's. Finally, what made the movie, for me, to go down several points, was the scene with two (or three?) Gatling gun's and Judge Dredd running from their fire like for 5 minutes, and they firing thousands and thousands of rounds, destroying half of Megablock floor, killing a lot of civilians around Dredd, but never hitting him. That was just ludicrousness and i hate scenes like that.
This might be just for me, otherwise i would bump the rating to 7 and if you are a fan of Dredd comis (I have never read it) add another point to it.
I liked the movie. While it has some issue the homage to the previous DC movies worked for me very well
Finally a good episode. Focused, close to the books. We have character work. Thumbs up
The VFX was bad especially the second fight scene, seems like someone from production told them, we need action towards end and they went a made ot extra. Bleh (stupid deviation from book again)
Show's quality goes down. Similarly as episode 2 this has been highly engaging. The story, the execution.
For the god's sake, if you have shootouts make them believable and not that they shoot thousands of round just into a car and they just continue and continue.
If you come to the movie with lower expectations or get after 10 minutes of the movie that the similarities with Excalibur legends etc, or only vague inspiration for a fantasy movie, this movie will positively surprise you.
I found myself enjoying funny dialog, nontraditional editing/cutting, changes in pace and narrative style. Sometimes the movie has been on the border of isn't this too much? Little bit maybe, but overall I found it refreshing and good.
There has been several down-points of the movie (mainly in narrative, consistency and making sense) but those were sporadic.
Final word: don't expect traditional tale or even story telling. Come with low expectation in regards to what you know about King Arthur legends from the past. I bet the director and crow had hell of a fun time creating this movie :)
The movie was good. There are good parts for me and bad parts.
Plot: Nothing spectacular. OK-ish
Actors:
+ Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
- Jared Leto as Joker
Camera: Good
Effects: OK-ish, nothing spectacular
Costumes: really like Enchanters (Cara Delevingne), when she is the crouched dark creature. On other hand, i did not like her as the "clean" Enchantress
Could have been good movie without those supernatural fantasy stuff.
The whole movie made me think how can anyone believe in any religion that takes this seriously.
Ramses character was pretty cool :) I really like the acting, and he was refreshing take on any powerful ruler, with those his nonverbal and even verbal communication.
At places the story was really boring, without much leading into and jumping to conclusion.
Incredible boring :(
Plus: much more people that can sing (Depp is there like for 5minutes)
Minus: boring, long, boring, not fun, yet again remash of classic fairy tales.
Bad
I had to force myself to watch the movies, but i am glad i did.
First, the use of colors, and some scenes that i saw here and there repulsed me. Basically i watched it only because it got oscars :-).
At the end the movies is not that "weird" as it looks like from posters. What shines is the story telling. Which is great! Combined with very good acting, that combines well with the camera and at the end you have very great movies.
So if your gut tells you, you don't want to see this movie, but you like great stories, make yourself watch it and you will be surprised
Hah bad movie.
Why bad? I have put some thought into it: it not because of the story, it could be a good story. I think there are two reasons.
1. Incredible amount of cliches. Some of them are foreseable, some are terrible, some are painful.
I had some great laughs during the movie, but i think that was result of my mind trying to find some change in the movie stale that is otherwise so boring
Interesting movie, acting, idea, the character development of off-screen characters. All is great, but for the ending. There is no ending!! There are lot of promises, lot of unresolved issue that are raised, but are left completely unresolved. And it dissapointed me a lot.
It could have been briliant movie, but beacuse of the "lack" of ending it is below average.
Great movie that i really enjoyed. Angelina played very well even though at start i was little worried as the "good" form of Maleficent did not suit her well, but after her change - Oh my! :D I strongly enjoyed the plot and especially the resolution, that was pleasant and satisfying.
Just great movie. Plot, characters, acting, effects. Refreshing sci-fi in times of many sequels, and more sequels
This was Thrilling! :)i loved the movie, the concept/idea was great.
I think lot of people are unaware of the physics in space and i think that the creators focused a lot on realism. (Spoiler: i love that in the end there was the hint of body being unused to earth gravity and that it is hard to getting used to it even after brief period of time in space)
The movie is not perfect on the physics part, but i think that there is a lot to be learned for a lot of people :) e.g. fire in zero gravity? = sphere of fire :)
The minus for me in the movie was: Spoiler: slowness of Sandra's character in midst of a problem solving situation. I was screaming in my head "just move your ***! Don't look at him floating, just move!".
Anyways, I greatly recommend the movie based on Story, Thrill, Learning potential, Concept
For me a great movie. I have not read the book (on purpose hold it back to read it after the movie).
I could feel the standard sci-fi feel of 80's or 90's, the story is very firm. Of course in the movie you cannot portray the same things as in the book, it's just different medium. Nevertheless i think they did great job in portraying the important thinks as movie should.
The ending was quiet refreshing! (speaking about the realization of the "games") not buildup to next books/movie. It's not like almost 99% of other sci-fi movies. Even though there is a win, it is laced with many other emotions/thoughts/implication :)
I really enjoyed the movie
Great list :), going way way back in time :) thanks and keep it up! :)
