Wait. A hurricane induced wave capsized a 75,000 ton cruise ship :passenger_ship: but the lifeboats that had all just been launched were unaffected. What sorcery is this?
Great episode! Unfortunately some of the lines were cheesy, but we get even-keeled coverage of both of the main plots, and Cap's story in particular is a bit moving, if concluded a little too quickly considering the slow burn we've been getting for the entire season so far. Hopefully we get some equally interesting stories from the other characters moving forward, it'd be a pleasant change of pace.
Ever so often 9-1-1 nails it, this one really got me good. 8.5/10
The actress playing Gabriella and the one playing her mom are five years of age apart. Come on. You have to do better than that. Vince was dead. His heart stopped. Then he went to the ball and put out a fire. He needs a cape because he is a superhero.
Liked Bobby and Athena as the dynamic crime-fighting duo. Wished they would have played that segment out a little more.
Is it mind-blowing? Not at all. Is it memorable? Probably not. But it's that type of feel good movie you have to watch once in a while.
So the series is becoming a combination of crime solving series with a pinch of paramedic/firefighter cases? I don't know how I feel about that..
What a beautiful use of “Keep Me in Your Heart” by Warren Zevon when they performed the send off at the hospital. That song gets me every time.
Ugh. I enjoy the series for the most part, but Dee is my least favourite character. I wouldn't be upset if she goes off to Military school and rarely (never) makes further appearances.
Jennifer Love Hewitt deserves all the awards for this episode!
Alright this was a pretty damn good episode.
What an episode! Jennifer Love Hewitt was amazing.
Oof. Now that the episode's over I can finally breath and relax. That was tense. More than tense. More tense that I initially expected. It was a roller-coaster of emotions. I probably didn't realize how tense I was until the credits kicked in and I felt somewhat of a relief.
What an amazing episode! Stellar performances. Damn, Oliver Stark was unbelievably good. I feel sad for the gas station guy. I knew he was gonna die, but it was still sad to watch.
I want to point something out. Someone give Jennifer Love Hewitt an award! She deserves anything good that happens to her. What a brilliant performance! I'm gonna rematch the episode again just for her stellar performance. I wasn't sure about her coming this season to replace Abby, but I wasn't expecting to love her as much. She and Chimney deserve some happiness together. I'm sure Maddie's Doug PTSD is gonna kick in when she's with Chimney. I just hope it doesn't interfere itheir relationship.
I know they're all actors and that what happens on a show is not real and all that stuff, but the fact that it was Jennifer Love Hewitt's real husband who played Doug makes me somehow awkward. I know it's all role-play and that they're professionals but if that were me, I'd need a stranger and not someone who I live with. Just a thought. But either way, kudos for them for playing it that way. It was a really stellar performance, probably the best one we've seen in the show so far.
The story was convoluted and disjointed. But the Jess leaving part. Why? First Hawaii canceled, they keep Sydney and now this. Strange decision making.
About hatches. What pressure is a partially filled space going to exert on the airlock handwheel? Answer: 0 pounds. Plus—if the pressure is underneath the hatch, wouldn’t that HELP it open?
NCIS Sydney gets renewed and they cancel Hawaii? What a horrible decision. Terrible.
That cliffhanger has me intrigued. But nevermind. It is all a waste. Do they send LL Cool J down under?
Very touching ending, the song they picked couldn't be better. This show just gets better and better!
Holy mother of... So much tension. The episode was insanely crazy, and it was only episode 2! In any other show this would've been a series finale.
What a cliffhanger! I got seriously mad when the episode ended. I was at the edge of my seat! The episode really looked outstanding and impressive. What's the budget these guys have? It really caught me off guard.
"Is it a little girl?"
"No, a young African-American kid"
Seriously, I don't even know why I laughed so much at that quote.
That dispatcher guy was awesome. Two minutes of screen time and I already love him. "You would think after 14 seasons of Grey's Anatomy thatpeople would know this stuff". Gotta love the guy.
Watching Eddie worried about his adorable kid and Buck trying to tell him everything will be ok was sweet.
Next week can't come any sooner.
Great finale. Incredible series.
This episode was particularly gory but remained heartfelt and warm.
I wasn't expecting Bobby to throw away his book!
I can't wait to see what else this show has to offer in the next season!!
I've just finished watching the show and I can't believe how good it was. I actually didn't expect it to be this good. The pilot got me hooked like no other show has and as I continued watching the characters grew on me. Abby and Buck are so damn cute together and I'm so deeply sorry for Abby's loss. I loved how, despite saving lives day in day out, they still got problems at home and how the characters were developed. Everyone has their story, and despite what they have seen, they go home and be another person. Angela Basset is just the best thing that there is. She's great and I love Athena. However, I don't feel comfortable with her date with Bobby. I rather watch them with another people, or Athena with the handcuffed guy (can't remember his name).
At the beginning of the show, the emergencies seemed a bit disconnected, but now they've found their pace and they're related, thus making it easier and believable for the viewer. I'm so glad this show got renewed 'cause it's damn fine.
The scene with the guy talking on the phone with his son after getting split in half was really hard to watch. It was really emotional and heartbreaking.
So glad I gave this show a go. otherwise, I would've regretted it
This episode was probably my favorite after the pilot. I appreciated the fact that all the emergencies were held by a common and solid theme, I wish the writers could pull this off more often.
I could have only hope for a little Abby and Buck for it to be perfect, however luckily they have had plenty of screen time and this episode was necessary so we could see Athena and Bobby's stories moving forward.
I won't even mention Hen's cheating with Eva because that whole plot is a mess.
Extra points for Bobby and Howie's friendship!
Probably the writers take mushrooms themselves and what we see is the result of their trip
This series just gets better and better with each episode. It has everything: drama, action, love, heartbreak. This episode was particularly harrowing. I love how layered the characters are and how they all have their own heartbreaks going on outside of their work. Very true to life!
Athena was so badass this episode, I love her. I absolutely love how varied and complex the characters are and at the same time how they're all just people interlinked through their respective jobs, dedicating their lives to saving others.
Another wickedly weird day in Riverdale. So this episode raised new questions for me... Is Chic alive? I mean, Betty threw a kitchen knife at him but all we hear is that Charles and Glen are going to be okay. I can't even begin to explain how I watched the whole 'pincushion Man scene... it was a whole new level of crazy even by Riverdale standards. It went from wedding to extending the family trauma in 0,3 seconds. Next question: Why would Tabitha leave Jughead chained to a desk in a bunker full of candles ALONE? Next up: Did Veronica actually think Chad was going to let her go just like that? The guy is a literal copy of her father in terms of shadiness, hello daddy issues. And lastly, did Penelope, Cheryl and Nana really want to sacrifice Minerva and did they actually just pray for WIND?
I can't wait to see what kind of craziness comes next. I solely watch this show as an escape to reality nowadays... thinking 'well, we might have a global pandemic but at least we don't have a massive prison escape orchestrated by the town mobster/ex-mayor that causes my serial killer brother plus his fiancé to come to my doorstep to get wed and lowkey also play a very murderous game in front of children'.
The acting. I need to start at the acting before anything. Every single person on that screen was every inch of believable. Even that dog, the dog, amazed me with its acting skills.
Next up is the cinematography, it was filmed almost like a documentary and I think that's what makes this different from most movies for sure. I loved feeling like these characters were real.
The story and the dialogue are both top-notch, and the ending is very controversial, I'd say. Also, the soundtrack is both soothing and chaotic. I love it.
The only reason I'm not giving it a higher level is because I didn't feel connected enough to any of the characters to care enough. The case itself is interesting, but the answers are too thin.
They got me. I knew it was coming. I knew she was leaving the show. I assumed it was a between seasons decision. But when she walked right by her brother it instantly clicked. And I have to say it was very well done. I never thought they used her character enough. She just minded the store while Melinda ran around in her ghost world. But I think she will be missed.
Nooo Andrea! I mean I knew this would happen, as I have seen some newer eps on TV before, but this feels so unfair. Andrea was a genuinely great character with a sweet connection to Melinda, and Aisha is an amazing actress. I will deeply miss her. Excited to see how season 2 plays out.
Tony. Quite the diversion from his long established character profile. In this episode he doesn’t know the movie Shane and even more aberrantly was unfamiliar with The Maltese Falcon.
Finally Andrea gets a main storyline. Maybe too little too late as the actress will leave the show after six more episodes. I liked the twist with the cardiac resuscitation. I didn’t have it figured out.
Abigail Breslin, Anne Archer, and a Cusack. Quite the guest star list. A lot of backstory here too on Melinda. Great episode.
