What a ride! Hail the Black Queen!
Honour, allegiances, and common sense still become clear in the rising tide of war. The intentional overcome by the accidental rage which more than often starts most wars.
Excellent writing, direction, performances. Every aspect of this show drips high fantasy for adults and for those that don't need everything to be spelt out to them as an audience.
Now this sudden recall of the realisation of the long anticipation between the early seasons of GoT is overshadowing the brilliance of this finale. No matter, I'll just rewatch it!
Thanks cast and crew for this splendid Season 1. And restoring the hope there can still be in Quality entertainment coming to an expecting audience and that all is not lost. 10
Ah, I love it when I genuinely have fun when watching a murder mystery! I hope they'll manage to write another extravagantly entertaining adventure for Benoit Blanc's third screen exploit!
Oh, by the way, with everything that's been going on with Twitter, was anyone else eerily reminded of the mercurial "Chief Twit"'s antics when witnessing Miles Bron's chaotic decisionmaking? I don't think this was originally intended, but that character now definitely feels like a parody of Elon Musk lol
This is not a movie about dragons and the world of Kumandra. This is about Earth, this is the real world. We are divided, groups of people completely hating each other inside the same nation.
Unfortunately we are facing our own Druun, our plague. But as in the movie, this isn't our biggest problem. The real enemy is our inability to work together as a community, to put aside political views and really trust each other, working together for the best of everybody.
Beyond the important and necessary message, the movie is a fun adventure, the world building is great and the technical aspect is what you would expect of a Disney movie.
Like a big mouth putting his foot in it, this didn't know when to shut up.
The first Songbirds and Snakes movie is better than what I remember of the Hunger Games, but then they tack on another half movie at the end and it all unraveled for me.
I was 6 stars deep through the second half of this Cornholeanus Snow origin story, but then realized there was a third half coming and I had to witness the pacing and story-telling get sacrificed on the altar of setting up a sequel.
Plus, Rachel Zegler is an amazing young woman, but her excess of talent in everything she takes on does not justify turning the movie into a near-musical for her... Just sayin'.
Horrible live-action remake. I tried my honest hardest to like this movie but it's terrible.
Fragile relationships between flawed and frightened people in an era of authoritarian social pressure before instant judgment and shame became ubiquitous on social media. One of the year's best. Tune out the noise of the critics and watch it alone if you have to.
I’m not sure why people are saying this is a solid start, it’s stumbling at best. Not saying it cant get there, maybe that’s why they released two episodes to start, will see where it goes
Like live octopus soup, there was too much I couldn't swallow for me to really enjoy this.
The science of a shark living in a freshwater river capable of having babies without mating and evolving into a new species in a couple years was so bad I had the runs as if I'd drunk from the Seine. That said, I did enjoy the views of Paris, and the ending FAR exceeded my expectations.
So, I'm up for a sequel is what I'm saying.
"No one's giving us orders, man. Someone's trying to kill us. We're trying to kill them."
Quite literally the scariest movie I've ever seen.
I feel like you can always recognize a writer-director. Alex Garland's vision is so confidently realized here. Masterfully constructed all around, from the cinematography to the sound design to the outstanding performances.
I was struck by the way Garland advances his story and lends it weight using tiny, understated moments that hit me like a punch to the gut:
- "300 Canadian."
- "Florida. Central America."
- The two star flag of the WF
- Lee deleting the photo of Sammy
I never call a movie important, but I think this one might be.
This movie is a prequel to The Handmaid's Tale.
If you watch it thinking so, it makes much more sense.
A fitting send off for Jack McCoy. “It’s been a hell of a ride.”
This movie is like the last Thor.. A bunch of friends (and A Heard) gathered to have fun and in the process trying to make a movie. The story is weak, the acting is questionable, it's shot badly and there is no colors what so ever for a movie in the sea. Jason is "playing" himself in the suit of Aquaman, Amber and Nicole Kidman are barely there (i am not complaining about Heard but the way they "handle" it is comical), There is no budget for William Dafoe, jokes are not landing. The villain is the worst in the history of the villains in the first movie, but here is just sad. SPOILER Arthur beats him up every time he sees him. Manta is always running from him (barely escaping) and I am suppose to be scared from him or for Aquaman? Really? Really? He has to die in the first 20 minutes when he discovered the forgotten kingdom and leave a space for a new villain that the movie hyped for us for 2h and kill after literally one breath of air been alive. The dumbest thing ever END OF SPOILERS
The soundtrack in this season is something beyond normal. Loved every piece of it.
This is really just a parody of everything that exists until it's not even possible. It's unbelievable how far this brand has come. Not only does it defy all logic and especially the laws of physics, but everything looks insanely fake. Both the scenes and the people. It's like some weird cartoon mixed with an old generation console action game. It's X separate scenes that are somehow spliced together by bad music.
I swear to god, we're going to see Dom and his family hook CERN up to wires and spin it so hard it throws the planet into another dimension.
And then Brian really arrives for the barbecue and we learn that the whole Paul Walker death was just completely insane marketing.
I completely agree with Sopherian van Ettinger's review, on all points, so won't repeat them here. Additionally, I think Alexander Moloney's acting was very poor (or maybe it was just the script and direction he had to work with) but he came across as wooden and lifeless, with no real emotion most of the time. He certainly didn't make Peter Pan in any way a likeable or identifiable character. Jeremy Sumpter did far better in the 2003 film - which was altogether a far superior production. Forget this weak woke travesty and watch the 2003 film instead if you want a far higher quality Peter Pan film to watch with your children.
Disney is worthless anymore, everything is put out there to propagandize and they have done their level best to destroy the beloved story of Peter Pan! This movie is total garbage.
Wow what a ride. So much to process. Good laughs and also some tears. Will need to watch it again. Thank you James Gunn for the Guardians of the Galaxy
This is one of the first times I've seen an unnecessary documentary. The reporter that discovered the "hitchhiker" is so wildly memorized by the most mundane facts about this guy it's kinda embarrassing. If I wanted to sum this up with no spoilers
Don't meet your heroes and it's okay to be cautious when it comes to anyone who doesn't have an address.
This film is not the bloated body of a drowned rich person washed up on the beach. This movie is not the coroner cutting into the cold, colorless corpse of a wealthy man now destitute in death. Rather, Triangle of Sadness is the sharp scalpel mocking the polished skin it slices into as it peels away wealth of blubber to expose the absurdity that lies rotting beneath.
This satire of the affluent may not be the most accessible or the most subtle takedown of the rich (oligarchs and influencers included), but it is far and away the most skillful and entertaining.
I haven't seen all of the films competing at Cannes in 2022, but I don't need to for me to say this is clearly the winner. (And for those who will complain about the vulgarity of the dinner scene, let me just say, "Exactly!")
It is clear that the production team for this film worked hard to honor Charlie's perfect book. I love the animated watercolor look. Just as the book should be read every few months—certainly each year—this film should be watched over and over. What a treasure!
The Fabelmans is a great movie. While Sam Fabelman is the main character, this is still an autobiographical story of Spielberg's childhood, his family, discovering movies, and his growth in making films. Spielberg wrote, produced, and directed the film, and it is a masterpiece of direction, sound design, and editing. While I'm not a huge Michelle Williams fan, she was amazing as Sam/Steven's mom, giving an amazing performance in a very physically and emotionally wrought role. Plus she shows off her real piano playing skills.
John Williams did the music, so the sound design and editing of the music with the scenes in the movie, and in Sam's films is beautifully done.
Well worth the watch just as a movie, but all the more for anyone who is a fan of Steven Spielberg's and would appreciate how he came to love making movies.
The most cinematographic episode so far, with great photography and music, which made it very intense and powerful in some parts; but unfortunately it has some quite unrealistic elements, like Sir Criston murdering a guest and just walking away...
That’s the worst thing I’ve ever seen.
No plot, no likeable characters (besides Rebe), it’s literally :corn: and just the worsts dialogues.
I wanna give u an accurate impression of one “story line” of season 5:
Pat loves Ivan.
Ivan likes Pat as a friend and is 200% straight.
Ivan wants to cuddle with Pat.
Ivan sleeps with Pat’s sister.
Pat kisses Ivan’s dad.
Ivan sleeps with Pat.
Ivan’s dad tells Ivan to focus on girls.
Ivan sleeps again with Pat’s sister.
Ivan’s dad sleeps with Pat.
Ivan is mad.
Pat is sad.
:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:WHAT THE HELL:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:
You just can’t tell me the screenwriter wasn’t on dr:asterisk_symbol:gs
I mean I'll struggle with my review cuz most of what I've felt is hard for me to express with text
This documentary was so pure, so loving so emotional and very inspiring
I got super attached to the octopus that I felt this sense of being protective over her.. Also every time Craig (the diver) exists water I find myself saying go back go back and check on her
This documentary is highly recommended, it's so peaceful and stressful at the same time
This is probably a good documentary but I was so distracted by how incredibly stupid she is. She knows he’s messing her but still went along with it. I try to psychoanalyse this but she didn’t seem to have a destructive upbringing or anything, had friends and family and staff who loved her, maybe she was suffering from depression from the first divorce? No idea but I think she is literally and simply stupid. It is SO frustrating. I kept shouting at the tv with my own narrative calling the guy a c:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol: too many times to actually enjoy the show. She gives both vegans and women a bad name……
Quite boring as a musical. The way it is represented is way too modern, and the songs seem often out of place, with recitatives a bit too long that break the pace.
Tremendous film. If you're the type of person who gets annoyed at migrants arriving at your country in boats or over walls - you should be made to watch this film. And if you're still annoyed after watching it, chances are, you're an absolute c**t.
Gosh... I love Anya Taylor Joy but couldn't for the life of me care about this story. It's visually stunning and all but ugh... unapologetically boring.
High production values with the costumes and sets but I didn't care for the plot or characters and didn't find it funny.
It would be a shame to sleep on this. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier subverts expectations and roles established by the Captain America films, primarily at how we look at American Exceptionalism. Duplicity and duality finally seem to be at the core and it's refreshing and interesting to know that basically the only thing keeping Sam and Bucky positive on governmental oversight was Steve himself.
John Walker's character is fascinating because of how it plays into and against Steve's traits. No longer is Captain America some altruistic force; now he functions even further as an arm of the military. Although Walker would have you believe he's doing everything for the greater good, the greater good is frequently challenged within Steve's arc. By setting up Walker as more of a stereotypical, arrogant military man combined with Sam and Bucky's distrust, the cynicism is not only pushed onto Walker as a Cap replacement but also towards American foreign policy as a whole.
This is something MCU detractors have been citing as fault in the franchise for years, the lack of any critical eye towards the American war machine. I am utterly enraptured.
