"- Well, we'll need some stopping power. Too much?
- Not unless you're going grocery shopping in Texas."
What an ending! They seriously need to stop arresting Jessica. It seems that she ends up in handcuffs every damn season. It's becoming a weird tradition.
I love that even in the middle of a blazing hot summer, Jessica still wears heavy boots and her leather jacket everywhere. Hey, I get it. She needs to maintain that dark aesthetic. I just think it's super funny.
Vido is such a cute kid, and I enjoy his dynamic with Jessica so much. I'm pretty meh about Oscar for now. We'll see what they do with his character.
Jeri's storyline is breaking my heart. And giving me major anxiety because I can imagine doing exactly the same if I were in her situation.
Can Pryce just fuck off already? I despise the guy.
This show is filled with heavy themes and storylines, but Jessica's fear of becoming the monster that this other lady is hit me especially hard. I was almost in tears when she kept saying "That's not me". That's what Oscar got wrong about her: she's not a misanthrope. She may not have the patience to deal with other people's bullshit, and she may not be a particularly nice person, but she wants to protect people. That's what led to her brief stint as a superhero. And after all the shit she's been through, her first instinct is still to save others. I just have a lot of feelings about Jessica Jones, okay? She deserves the world.
I have to say, mad props to the writers for never dancing around what Kilgrave did to Jess and calling it what it was: rape. Remember, kids, sex without explicit consent is always rape. It shouldn't even need to be said in goddamn 2018, but looking at what's happening in the world and everything that went down in Hollywood in the last few months, some people just still don't get it.
Like someone mentioned elsewhere around here, things were rather enjoyable until his sister showed up. I feel that she drags the show down... Hopefully, she'll have her brains blown to bits in the season finale.
That scene with Kovacs sharing a toast with himself was technically impressive. At least I don't recall ever watching such a "fake twin" scene being shot from that angle and with such proximity between characters. Well done!
Also, that Iridium Experience is some gruesome nasty shit. I really hope they'll manage to bring the whole place down.
That shot circling Tak after the shuttle exploded was one of the most beautiful I've seen in a while
God I loved the scene in the rain outside the hospital - the internal struggle, the dialouge, the imagery the music... Perfect in every way.
Also... That end fight scene!! Intense!
I'm not prepared for Dichen Lachman's badass entrance but hot damn
Excellent parallel between Kovacs' torture and Ortega's family reunion. Both show how technology is utilized in the staples of our lives (an interrogation in Kovacs' case and a holiday celebration in Ortega's). Both also has similar theme of treading between life and death.
Kovacs' torture sequence can be done a bit better (especially the "going to next screen" moment, as it seems to be a bit rushed) but it does the job well enough. The most interesting part in this episode for me is Ortega's family reunion, tackling back the question asked since the first episode, "if you can prolong life by simply changing your bodies, would you still do it?" Also, grandma resleeving in a muscular white punk is just too funny. Props to the actor.
Each episode gets better and better. Love the pink backpack :-)
Poe Is the best character of this series.
'Mute' is a beautiful disjointed mess, especially in tone. Netflix movies are like airplane food when it come to cinema. I'm disappointed.
I know it's been rough for Duncan Jones in the last couple of years with his wife (Rodene Ronquillo) diagnosed with cancer and the passing of his father (David Bowie), and now this. It's incredibly sad that Duncan passion project couldn't live up to his vision. The ideas were there, but nothing panned out. I still look forward for what he makes in the future and hoping things work out for him.
Needs more Sam Rockwell thou.
DAMN! What an ending. Yay Charlotte (even though that was very unrealistic, she would've been brain dead).
Wow @ the train being gold.
And Anno reunited, lawd.
The last two eps, I WAS GLUED!
Can't wait for more.
This ep was super intense, wtf. GRETA YOU ARE SO DUMB.
And nooo, Charlotte ;_;
Top quality series: First of its kind in German TV history. Intense dramatic story about the roaring and challenging years around 1929 time in Berlin. A clear „must see“ recommendation.
We can witness a classical Bonnie and Clyde story supported with bit of a Natural Born Killers vibe, two splendid main characters and killer music.
I usually hate to say this, but it totally feels like a movie just split into 8 episodes, so no surprise the whole season has been released at once to binge-watch.
Unfortunately, the uniqeness has lessened after the fifth episode and became a comfort food, also the cliffhanger seemed a bit off, but aside from these little drawbacks, you should definitely check out.
Can't believe all of the negative comments. This was a beautifully shot, well thought out story. Everything in it had a purpose. And that final shot was the clincher. This was a story about the human spirit.
There's so much chemistry between Georgina Campbell (Amy) and Joe Cole (Frank) it cracks the screen.
Talk about shit getting out of hand.
"Mummy? Are you my mummy?"
yay, First appearance of Jack harkness!
That was fucking amazing. I'd be all in for a spin off with Karin and Blue, although the ending might make that a bit difficult. I could listen to that Scottish accent of Kelly Macdonald forever. All the way to the middle of the episode I kept thinking how familiar Blue seemed, so I checked who the actress was. Can't believe she's The Waif from Game of Thrones! Freakin' crazy how different she looked. I'm even more surprised that she's 30! She seemed way younger in GoT, but I guess that was because of Arya.
Anyway, what an episode!
The funny thing is that after the episode ended, I came here to give it some stars.
After reading a rave review by a friend, I started binging this new Netflix series today. The English dubbing is horrible so do yourself a favour and set the audio to German and the subtitles to English. The acting is very good and shouldn't be ruined by poor dubbing performances. This series is darkly mysterious, more like the original TWIN PEAKS (without the bizarre humour), although it is being compared to STRANGER THINGS (although I don't see many similarities in the three episodes I've watched so far). The mystery is compelling - take in all the up front hints given before the pilot's opening credits - they set you thinking in the right direction. I got bogged down in episode 3 and had to make a chart of family relationships, but once I'd conquered the who's who I was back into the mystery. Looks promising. I'll come back with a final rating but so far I give it an 8 (great) out of 10 with the potential for a 9 (superb). [Who-done-it, What-really-happened Mystery]. A good work out for those little grey cells (I wonder how many calories will that work out burn in my LaZboy chair?) **Just finished season 1 (yes, it doesn't resolve but catapults us into a further plain) WOW, my brain is tired. So many threads, so many resolves, so many themes (determinism, free will, religion, science, time, space, interdependent relationships, cause and effect). It goes down every lane. Complex, great storytelling. Great acting. Can't wait for another season. It well deserves at least a 9 (superb) out of 10, maybe even a 9.5.*
curiouser and curiouser...what's really in the barrels?
and that Hannah sure is something else...
I have to say the last minutes of this episodes shook me to my core
Okay, that was really cool. Wonderful twist!
What an epic season finale! Geez, Jon Bernthal is The Punisher just like Robert Downey Jr. is Iron Man. This season was really amazing, and not only Bernthal's acting was great, but the rest of the cast too. Just loved it. Ready for season 2.
That shot of Frank walking of the dark wearing the skull outfit was goddamn glorious.
This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is how you do horror!
