Impel Down (8/10): A lot of fun, and brought back many characters for more development. It got a bit slow for me at times, but I still enjoyed it
It would appear that most people hate this film because they are unable to grasp the inner concepts that this film was built around while appealing to a braindead audience who are easily amused - most people just see the stupidity. Let's attempt to break it down, though.
Our heroes in the film are Emojis, but it really doesn't matter what they are, but rather, what they represent. Like Inside Out, Toy Story, Winnie the Pooh, or virtually any other kids film, the main characters are simply personifications. Their outward expressions and the world's expectations for them to keep those expressions is social commentary on how people are supposed to act in public, or in their professions. The Meh emoji represents inner turmoil at believing there's more out there than the safe expectations of society, he is an explorer, and societies differences give him depression.
People have also complained about the plot about needing to reach Dropbox. Dropbox is yet another metaphor, just masked in something relevant to the setting. Exactly like Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings. It's an adventure story with plenty of heartfelt, meaningful messages and diverse, colorful characters
This is Man vs self, man vs. faith, man vs destiny, man vs society, and man vs industry, depending on which character is focused on. The characters are well-rounded, as they all have individual character goals, motivations, and growth, all of which aren't without healthy flaws that act as obstacles to get them where they need to be right away.
Hate for this movie makes no sense to me. It's relevant, the visuals and animation is pretty great, and a lot of thought was put into making it smart all around
Just when you think you hit rock bottom with Black Adam and Wonder Woman 84, DC find a way to disappoint you even more. This was awful. I'm heartbroken at how terribly these characters have been portrayed. Terrible writing. Terrible direction. Terrible acting. Terrible VFX. Everyone phoned it in on this movie.
great anime to watch, one of the best
The series plays like one of those ero videogames that are popular in Japan. The first 4 chapters are the set up, then from there various story arcs that take place involving the main male character with each of the different girls but taking place during the same time period which would be confusing if you weren't aware it was playing out like a videogame where you have different routes. I don't see this as ecchi since there are no fan service like panty shots, there's a lot worse series in that department. I also didn't agree with the male lead joining the pervert photography club, but he ended up screwing up their plans whenever he found out about them targeting anyone
Liked it. Simple good fun and more mature than other animated movies. Could see young kids hating it but older ones prob would and adults prob would enjoy it too
3 Thoughts After Watching ‘The Little Mermaid’:
Halle Bailey IS Ariel. She was absolute perfection. From voice to vibe, she captured her essence impeccably. I believe a star has officially been born.
Melissa McCarthy had veryyy gargantuan tentacles to fill. And I think Pat Carroll would’ve been incredibly pleased with what she did with her sea witch.
I thought they built upon the original film’s story in all the right ways. Fleshing it out to make a little more sense. Providing more substance. While not everything was picture perfect, it worked and gave fresh magic to a beloved story.
Bonus Thought: I thought it was a fantastic movie to look at, especially under the sea. Gorgeous colors and visuals. Eye candy all around. And that includes Jonah Hauer-King. :pound_symbol:snack
12/10 Stars!
I watched this series now the 8th time, and I can't stop watching it again and again. This is the best series I ever watched!
Way better than Jurassic World Dominion for sure. 65 doesn't reinvent anything in the dinosaur blockbuster genre but it was fun and entertaining nonetheless. Some parts drag a lot, the story is extremely simple and it leaves a lot of questions unanswered (ex: Why were they on this mission? Why was a little girl on the mission? Why would they put people who don't even talk the same language together? Who are they, an advanced species or time-travelers? among other things...) and because they don't address these questions it creates plot holes and makes for lazy writing. It's by no means a cerebral journey but the action is thrilling, the special effects look great, I like the sci-fi technology and so many cool-looking dinosaurs. My favorite part was the cave in complete darkness.
Adam Driver isn't given a lot to work with but he was good as the stereotypical action hero. The backstory with his daughter was heartwarming even though some of the flashbacks were strangely placed. I have to say I was incredibly annoyed with Koa for the first half she was slowing the story and the humor parts with Mills ruined the mood a few times. But then they redeemed her around halfway through, making her usefull and less comedic. I was ok with her then and the relationship between the two is perhaps what gives 65 it's charm.
Don't know what everyone is complaining about,I enjoyed every minute of this film.It is what it is.7 out of 10.
This was such a good movie that I'll probably watch it again when it gets closer to Christmas. Feels like an instant Christmas classic!
Never read the manga for this, but WOW!! Cannot believe the stuff that goes down in season one. Shocking moments, heart wrenching scenes, and so much ghoulish awesomeness. In love with this anime atm. Why have I not heard of this one before? Glad I happened to come across it.
Gratuitous nudity and GCI gore, terrible acting, and cheap sets, Cheerleader Massacre 2 has all the makings of a “so-bad-it’s-good” B-horror film. However, it doesn’t quite make it around that bend. The plot’s ridiculous bad; a series of top secret weaponized drones are unleashed on a remote cheerleader camp. But the more bizarre and idiotic, the better for this type of slasher. Yet as atrociously awful as Cheerleader Massacre 2 is, it’s just not cheesy or campy enough to be enjoyed.
You hear about movies this bad, but rarely do you get an opportunity to actually see one. Cheerleader Massacre is beyond low-budget horror; there’s virtually no production value and the “acting” isn’t even up to the standards of a used car commercial. This abomination isn’t worthy of being called a movie, let alone worth watching.
one of my favorite shonens from recent times
One of the greatest Anime series of the universe! ❤️
I suspect Gabi would still be annoying as fuck, even if she wasn't a brainwashed fanatic.
It breaks my heart knowing how this story ended in the manga but PLEASE change the ending in this anime series I begging youuuu.
I was planned to binge rewatch this whole series once it ended cuz I am totally in love with the characters, the stories of each of them and etc but after knowing how it will actually ended kinda makes me devastated and part of me wants to avoid watching the final episode cuz I'm still in denial. If the end will be the same as in manga, I don't think I will ever watch this series again anymore.
Please don't ruined my fav anime. I hope you see this, Mr Director.
