This episode is one of the reasons why SVU continues to be so popular. There is nuance in the story telling and the characters are not always black and white. Even though Darius was at fault, the show did explore the reasons for his insecurity about Avery and also showed the contrasting economic conditions they both grew up in.
"Not everything done in the dark is shameful"
I love Barba. He never lets the bullies keep him from doing what needs to be done.
Sixteen seasons and I am still not bored with the show. It's sad that they never run out of awful stories to tell, though, given how most of their cases are based on actual events. But I really love the way this show makes you think -- there are always the obvious bad guys, but reality is that everything isn't always black and white. I do not envy the people who have to enforce the law; nor do I envy those whose experiences are what led those laws to be created.
