Wow! Totally surprised by it.
They have studied "Dark" really good, the show was truly fantastic. An exception story crafted throught out all the periodes, a very tight script, really they managed to close and give answers to almost everything. This for a Netflix show is a must see for all the timer-traveller fans.
It also managed to do a proper "destroy the loop" and what happens to the characters as perfect as Dark Did. Charles was my favorite, the little girl those only 10 minutes of appearance stole the spotlight. The music was great and the direction was also good.
Of course lets all pray that Netflix will not salvage on the show and realize that this was a mini-series and not give a second season.
So yes about the last 2 minutes, you can skip them so it will not ruin you the story. There are only there in case of netflix's greedy, read it below:
From an article:
It’s a door left open, according to Bodies showrunner Paul Tomalin, simply there to give the story somewhere to go in a potential second series. Should Netflix decide to renew Bodies, then that mini-cliffhanger would be the first step on that journey. in short – they’d finished the story but wanted to justify a potential return if Netflix commissioned one, so it was tacked on
This was okay - a typical action flick, but there were some poor choices made by everyone involved with this movie.
Namely, the ending. Now wtf was that?
Anyone interested in watching a movie about finding treasure wants them to find treasure and make it big time at the end - whoever decided it was a good idea to go with this nonsensical ending should be fired.
If they just waited until Jo left the island before going to the actual hiding place she never would have seen them and they never would have given the actual location away. They could have gotten away with all of their treasure instead of CRASHING THE BOATS AND SINKING IT INTO THE OCEAN. It made no sense at all - especially since both characters wanted to find the treasure and Sully had been looking for it for a long time.
I just can't wrap my head around the decision to take that route. This could have been a great show.
This was the first film I saw in theaters since like.. 2019 so the excitement of the big screen still made the movie enjoyable, but if I watched this at home I probably would have turned it off.
Everyone has mountain in their heart ; put it down and watch Jirisan with an open-mind.
With a stellar cast and beautiful camera work this should have been a walkway hit ... but becomes an impressive collection of talent badly underutilized by a troublesome script & production misfires
Even though it's neither as enthralling as the premise may sound nor as sparkly as the A-list cast portraying the characters, it does have something that make it stand out from other k-dramas, maybe it's the unique setting or the realistic tone, cannot point it out.
Jirisan has a linear story telling (despite its constant time jumping, which some may find confusing), as in there is progress in the story with each episode giving away clues and bringing you one step closer to the truth about the ongoing crime-mystery surrounding the mountain. The thing about that mystery-thriller genre however is that even though that's the theme of the drama it's not its focus. I'm sure many might have felt that this show seems more like some "Mountain Playlist" in line with Hospital Playlist or Prison Playbook, except for less humor and more realness. I actually enjoyed the mix of mystic thriller and daily log of rangers' tasks and duties and also the insight into the lives of the villagers, people visiting the mountain and for sure enjoyed the beautiful backdrop of Mount Jiri.
The seasoned actors delivered. There is nothing more to add, as there was no one in particular who stood out from the rest. I think that's mainly because all characters seemed "pretty normal" as if they were real people with real stories, no stereotypes, no exaggerations, no overly dramatic FL, no unbearably badass ML - just well written characters mirroring real people. It was nice to see Jun Ji Hyun again after her long break and Ju Ji Hoon as Hyun-Joo with his charmingly calm demeanor. They kept hinting at a relationship and neither confirmed nor ended it by bringing Hyun-Joo back from dead .. they did this unnecessarily At-least we had a couple in Oh Jung-see and Joo Min Kyung ; its very unlikely they act together as couple but if they do I really want an happy ending for them
What I enjoyed most about this drama is that every episode felt like one chapter from an encyclopedia on Jirisan National Parks, showcasing not only the beauty of the mountain but also nature's unpredictable cruelty. Also, some scenes were surprisingly touching and emotional, I sometimes found myself struggling with holding back the tears.
The camaraderie shared by the rangers is another strength of the show; again, it was neither over the top nor too bland, just perfectly balanced and fun to watch.
Some Minor flaws are - little spoiler - there are a lot of deaths and revivals in the show and some felt really unnecessary and were hardly dealt with. Also I would have loved to see more interaction between the main characters, especially in the last episodes, but that is just my preference.
The main lesson I take from the show is how tough physically demanding jobs are, which makes me appreciate emergency rescuers, police officers and rangers among others even more. This show is a song of praise to all heros with no capes. I will remember this quote for life
A Mountain is a mountain ; some people climb to live and some people climb to die but all we (rangers) do is to protect them
