Fantastic plot involving these two fresh out of police academy/school guys that out of nowhere are engaged into a radical altering live event witnessing a kidnapping, situation that will test both of their abilities in this exciting action, comedy and serious undertone movie.
Very simple premise but yet, a very nice enjoyable comedic action film that sure will make you laugh and enjoy the one hour run of it.
This movie has everything going right. It has a funny, yet a heartwarming themes and sequence that fallows troughout the movie without it being too much nor too fake. It's a movie that makes you feel joyful and emotional from time to time while laughing out loud fallowing with tears going down your face because of how well it's inclusion of this sprinkled heartfelt dramatic moments that continues to be presented in the movie without inturupting the main comedic factor of it. Another great aspect this movie has is that, non of the themes showcase in this movie overpower one over the other. Amazing heartfelt joyful comedy.
This movie is a debute by Yoon Dan Bi, also known as an actress with small roles in dramas like: "Life", "Criminal Minds" and the hit Kdrama "The World of the Married". Which was a quite the drama if I add.
This movie opens up in midst of a move out with a delicate and sour music by Shin Joong Hyun but sang by Lim Ah Young titled 미련 / "lingering regret" / "regret" which encapsulates the movie and their characters captivating the first minutes of the movie. And so by the end of the movie credits, the same song is sang by Kim Choo Ja as it gives the movie a different tone and feeling. Everything in this movie flows very methodical and slow, as it's intended with this type of written scripts. Which doesn't take away the importance of the movie more so for viwers that appreciate a movie such as this, particularly when a movie like this represents the normal life of a family that moves out of a place that once was called home.
If you are one of these potential viewers that in your life you've experience moving out a place to another while figuring how your life will turn out while growing up. This movie will make you feel relatable but nostalgic to the core. Feeling familiarities while watching how these ordinary family goes with their life while moving on and moving in has been portrayed, will make you think when you wheren in similar situation. Will feel personal. This movie opened up many memories when I was a kid, experiences and moments in my life while I was always moving from place to place and never settling into anywhere way after I've grown up.
The movie sure is an experience, that will be cherished more for those who have gone trough this somewhat similar process, in some personal way while watching this movie. Knowing that being in the early stages of life, not having a permanent place, creates character trough this typical process of life. This movie perhaps will not be for everyone, but atleast if you care to see it, give yourself a change to appreciate this simplistic and humbled work from what Yoon Dan Bi did here. Because is worth the mention and recommendation.
This movie was all laughter and joy. These two had one of the most wholesome and crazy chemestry I have seen.
Outstanding movie all the way through. It fascinates me the type of job and the requirements this martial arts officers have to go through in order to keep the streets safe and the amount of pressures they must carry only God knows. This type of job is truly commendable. Roles of motivators, martial arts combat and also, mentoring are quite the task. The story really lived up to its potential until the end, and it has it all that a good written script can offer.
Not every movie needs action or overrated subplot and complexity to be amazing to deliver a fantastic well design driven plot scene to scene. Few movies maintain a proper time consistency all trough out, this one was made exceptionally. Most movies rely on action, set pieces, or overrated narratives to fallow along. This one did not need it all of that. There is so few movies that rely on one of the most important aspects of a movie, which is a well made dialog exposition and those who do, do not maintain the proper nuance to maintain the course.
This one did it all the way and more so when the actors and actresses that play their parts became the story themselves. Ending in an incredible dramatic thriller, where the characters are the story, and so, we get to see and understand their situations while it is unwrapping to see their final conclusions and where each fall at the end. Fewer movies are made like this nowadays. Seung-uk Ho made another great movie.
This movie has a great atmosphere and intrigue all around it. The plot ensues mystery and questions that develops in time with no over complications to the premise and the following of its conclusion. More so when it is accompanied by an incredible piece of music helping the theme of what was written on paper to the interpretation on the screen. Everything was well put together.
What a wild movie. Very raw in its message with what most people go through by this sad downside of what social media has come to. Thinking that being well known has no specific downfall when we do not take this as seriously as we should, hurting others with what we define as our own right or world view and ideas. This movie showcased it with a simple comment that spirals into a catastrophe with one of the most horrendous acts one can come up with and seems harmful enough until life says otherwise.
This goes both ways, of course, from each side, from the perspective of that famous person or the commentarist behind a keyboard. This movie really showcase a great topic in which even tough, the premise is around this streaming idealism of enchantment that is as bland when the lights are turned off, likewise when we interact with each other in this world we call home.
Even though things we don't see happening might not be true, does not mean they can happen or did. Even though it is not happening to us, it does not mean it is happening to others. I think the best route to take and be as human beings is to be careful how we treat and talk to others. And be mindful of this idea of entitlements and positions that can construed what it is not meant to be, in the way when we act upon with a bad behavior. Incredible movie, outstanding thriller with an impactful message, and a twist at the end that makes this a must watch which makes you reflect.
This movie opens with one of the most wholesome introductions I've seen in family movies. It is a beautiful movie where peoples lifestyles intertwined with one another in due time as paths cross together. Laughters, smiles, giggles, and moments of sunking feelings are the menu of this movie where simple life moments interpreted felt very real. Simple premise but a great movie with characters that have great story development for each of their stories and conclusions.
This trilogy continues to be an amazing experience in the way the history of this battle continued where the first left of a couple of years ahead. It's amazing how these three installments, while being years apart of production, feel like it was film back to back. Not losing the value of its production. Outstanding tales in visual format.
At first glance, I was expecting a different outcome in regards to how the movie managed to be so direct with the message of outoritarisim when dictatorship becomes the rule of the land once things come crumbling down. In this case, in a literal sense. The movie explored the obvious tropes that has been truth even in our life time when outority wants to keep ruling as a facade of progress, while, little by little reveals it's true colors of power and control mascarade as your neighbor.
The many direct social issue queues are very present in this movie and in our face with a tremendous role from one of the characters who the represents this dilemma our word face even today and in this movie, Kim Yeong-tak. A character that embodied the world perfectly and the reprecutions of those who were impacted by that ideology.
While this is a topic that by all means, is not new, the way it deliver these points across, was very impactful when you experience the journey trough the eyes of Min-seong's wife instead of partaking as an expectator and putting yourself in the shoes of one of these unfortunated characters which one of them was seong's wife, atleast for me. Making her and us understand the finale through her last scenes that exposed those who were in her position, as she finds herself in, is what made the ending of this movie and what represents, was quite the moment.
The movie was fun to watch, seeing how a diplomat got embroiled into saving one of his own, with beutiful scenarios and a duo that made for the formulaic passing as to how everyone end up saving each other in the process, was most of the take away for the movie rather than the premise of it.
Even though it had different moments that interpreted tension and action here and there, the use of what could be intriguing and interesting was nothing to write home about when you get used to this types of dramatic interpretations by knowing how things will unfold.
Making one wonder how different and more dangerous these types of real situations are really done. Ending up feel more like a popcorn watch rather than an impacting experience, but still a great watch.
What a phenomenal film, looking like a classic, with outstanding grades of black and whites that, by being as such, the entiered experience feels more engaging to keep watching. This artistic approach to black and white to a movie that could have been in color gave a whole meaning and feeling to the story being told.
Good script. One of the things I found interesting on this basic premise is that it was able to maintain the intriguing aspect of the whole ordeal the Korean Filipino kid was going through. I felt like I was on the same page as oblivious to what was happening. Because actually the structure of the movie was managed very well. As things went along, things started to make more sense.
I feel like this movie captured a few themes that elevated the scenes that utilized pretty well, comedic moments, serious and trilling moments, and this lingering mafia-esq mood the movie went with from the story side by one of the family members but, such mood felt short after a while and maintain only the action comedy aspect of it.
Madonna is such an incredible small film. Even though filmography is not much to gush about, outside of that elemental surface of what the film does. That simplicity does help the story since it holds a great script in which is more what meets the eye with a topic such as the one it explored. Carefully introducing this harsh topic into a gasp of hope.
Another historically bombastic thrilling filmic interpretation of what has been written. These horrorific years to what came after South Korea. It is astonishing. One of the things I was wondering as I have never thought when I read about this, was, how unstable the regime had to be back then to allow this in the way it happened. But again, that is why it was a coup d'état after all.
As to the film itself, it was another phenomenal opportunity to understand and re-educate oneself from the history of these tumultuous years ahead. From previous movies like "The President's last Bang", "A Taxi Driver", "The Attorney" and "1987: When the Day Comes" are all a great compendium of this particular events of South Korea history. Phenomenal movie with a gripping bitterness efect due to its repercussions.
A movie that could be taken as satirical or the embodiment of filmaking. Were a director is set to go against all odds and tribulations to finalize his dream movie despite what was set for him to do. The plot is very basic, with hectic and exciting development because it is wrapped and elevated thanks to all the cast and their respective played characteristics.
Giving such a rich environment to be around in camera and of the camera, truly feeling like a theatrical play while making a movie at the same time. Such was how methodically this developing momentum to a reveal that is some what open ended in regards of him and what he did to accomplish his vision.
Here is when his character arc comes to fascinate me. His reason behind it all and his uncontrollable desire throughout the movie. Finally, the end gave a clear picture of what, for me, was his reason for that unfortunate previous developments that made him the director. Clearly, it is a good thing or perhaps oportunistic in regards to well, again, that particular unfortunate event.
There is a saying that even you might be oblivious to it or don't know that these things happen at a moment notice. Doesn't mean whether knowing still, one can fall into the scam.
This movie managed to mystified this horrible idea into a thrilling cat and mouse chase. Making us feel that what we watch is more scary and realistic. Even though it was showcased dramatically for shock value, knowing how very formulaic the structure of the plot went on.
But despite knowing the beat of this dramatic thrilling drum, that this plot beats onwards; the movie did not fall short of shocking value in this horrific presentation. By being in the shoes of this woman's desperation to report the scam, survive it while continuing to live by trying with her normal life. Again, a real dilemma that most people falling into scamming tries to do while surviving the loss of money.
Here is where the protagonists did a tremendous job on her delivered characteristic. Being chased through this awfully unfortunate events while watching the notion of this reality is in your thoughts constantly. We see the life changing reprecutions being played and portrait as real as possible can be interpreted in this movie.
Even though the movie feels over dramatized, in the very obvious ways of how movies develop plots, it does whole weight due to those realistic true events occurring facts alone. As such, this movie managed to interpret something with truth in it feeling like a sign of warnings to be mindful and careful in real life when it comes to this.
A movie with a masterful story depicting greed, love, and lies. As such, seeing how these ordeals torn the course of these characters in this film was very fascinating in this plot full of bittersweetness. Enhanced by a thread developed by its story with impacting emotional entanglement to the viewer, making you part of a journey that will stay with you as equally like one of the protagonists at the very end.
There are so many beautiful aspects of this movie, delivered in such romantic manner, which is not to say; "is because the movie is based on romance." Rather how it felt so enduring and heart pumping through the development of each character and how their life's are became increasingly connected to one another. Feeling very personal. All this is because how this movie managed to explain in visual ways, each characters growth and change with a mesmerizing set pieces evoking authenticity, feeling like a true story in the way was exposed. I am mesmerized by the beauty of this movie.
This movie has a crazy premise, utilizing several themes in one plot. From the comedic factor, complementing well with nice used of it in specific moments but in others feeling quite errie giving the situation and what the movie presents from the ilemma the main protagonist is in.
This great suspenseful thrilling crescendo enters into play from the perspective of the detectives and what comes from it, creating its intended atmospheric sense with the supernatural. Making it the comedy factor that was part of the takeaway in regards to how the main protagonists felt dealing with his mental state as to how long he has been doing these crimes.
The world building was there and I would have liked to see more of it in regards of what was presented, but the main focus was streamlined into just this main protagonist and his accomplice which created a great dynamic duo.
While going along with the movie, I saw that A Gu expresses her likness for this contract killer like he is the preferred person of hers, but never in the movie was shown any others. It gave a sense that there were more but never exposed.
The most outstanding aspect of the movie was the presentation of each set used for each scene. The lighting was super and very attractive and vibrant. This movie took me by surprise non the less.
Wow, what a sequel.
Not only did most of the original casts were back. I am here thinking why, after all these years, this movie had to be made, let along from Netflix itself, and choosing a different director and the writers. What was the motive? While it seems like what this sequel explored was a more in-depth understanding of the in betweens of who this Mr. Lee was, we get to know and travel trough time and decades even, to know a wide arrange of characters and each of their plots which extended this story exposing a quite different take from what the first movie gave and so expanding it.
Here is where the ending comes in, I really find quite taken out from how they dismissed an ending detailed that in the first movie was clearly different and apparent from the perspective of the mute siblings. This made the sequel very bold in its changes and a true suckered punch with how it tied it all together, making the first movie and the ending quite the plot twist and perhaps "true closure" to this story.
In World War two there were many moving pieces from so many countries in every single way. This movie is an addition to the significance of how things developed from the side of politics and its diplomacy through the eyes of the east and how these actions conquered and failed. The movie is so rich in its elegant way of presenting this cinematography equally with how such story composition was presented.
Raw, cut, and realistic interpretation of how a whole decision could end your life by unfortunate events that took place. This movie follows two families with an unknown past. One on the road scaping but living an uncertainty every day, while the other stagnated into past memories dying every day. The stories are very realistic as each interpreted plot by these actors and actresses gave it a more than just an ordinary movie. More so, when, the purpose that got each of these families to where they are now is exposed in due time without over exposing too much making this movie feel very down to earth and a must watch.
This movie was quite alright with a decent plot, leaving much to be desired as to how it was interpreted. But the takeaway of what the movie did represent was clear.
This movie has such a big heart, full of a dulcet and delicated interpretation of the harmonies these couples share and go through. With such a great but short paced that makes you want this to be a bit more of run time.
I have been very pleasantly surprised as to how the movie delivered a great story with a method no longer used in movies. Which was a pretty great and elegant riddle crime drama, driven by a full-on dialog exposition between the main protagonists. Here is where, exploring the plot trough their dialog felt very compelling as intriguing while it continues to develop itself, with this classical crime narrative exposing to the viewers a catalyst narratives of guessing and interpretations of the truth. Ultimately, it ended with a great twist that was well served, as the movie was closing to conclude its story.
This is a movie which showcased an already issue that has been made constant occurrences in real life and more so with how accessible technology tends to be as how fast it's becoming compromising to those who used it. Although the movie interpretation is showcased in this dramatic thrilling format, it does not mean it can not be close to a real scenario. Which is not something that is not even encouraging or appealing to add, giving the subject matter and how it does present itself.
Well, by the merits of film and written script, it was a good film regardless. Even though its generic plotline is not nothing new, more so when Korean movies tend to showcased these themes quite often. But still, sometimes, in this case, this movie managed to maintain its thrilling and captivating scenarios alive and more so when the score lift up scenes to expand key moments to maintain the dramatic thrills with this mystery that is this unfortunate events that do happen.
This leaved me perplexed on how rooted this psychological characteristics on analysis the movie is towards a much troubleling social psicological scars turn into problems people deal with. Wrapped in a horror, supernatural, mystery themed movie which the subject matter is delivered in a slow phased time in order to delivered a compelling tale.
This is an action packed movie were the premise of what motivated its purpose, aim and consequences has a deep rooted effect on what happen before, not holding hands. Starting out without questions, back story or any revealing intent until further down the main actors path to see the most awaited reveal, here is when reasoning since the beginning starts to pay off, while I continue to puzzled the motivations behind the actions of these characters. A movie that subvert my expectation when, since the beginning I was still questioning and figuring out. Giving a reason to be very impressed by the delivery of it all. Very 2010s Korean movie, were the end pays off by revealing the most unimaginable thing to tied all together.
What a moving story, with a fascinating captivating message. I like how the movie gave us a glimpse of hope at the end exactly when the screen goes to black. Which the before credit scene was a clear indicator of what Park Young Ho actions reflected in the whole movie, which tied-up to let us know they might have after all. A movie about coming of age story indeed, were a love story is present as a though, but not only a love story between two peoples, love story of growth, maturing, understanding life process and the deep rooted yearning for a better inspiration trough time which is what life was and is all along. Which continuously will bear fruit at the end.
