So far most of the comments I've seen here have been pretty negative. Personally I very much enjoyed the movie taking it as a fun action ride. Yes, there's been plenty of time loop based movies, but the combination of the good fight scenes, little comical points and nods to other movies combined with the time travel aspects made it to me highly enjoyable. Overall I thought the acting was pretty good for this type of movie from the Grillo, Gibson and Watts and on the whole it was an enjoyable watch.
Let's remember, we never watched the old 80s movies with the classic action stars because they were going to win oscars, they were about having a bit of over the top mindless fun. And this for me fit the bill well
This movie goes back to basics and really recaptures the classic spirit of man (or woman in this case) vs Predator.
Amber does a great turn as Naru, a Comanche trying to show that she CAN hunt and ends up in a battle against the almighty predator. The evolution of the story is a well paced and the combat encounters are well planned and satisfying.
Aesthetically the predator is a more raw tribal type than we've seen before but is well put out.
There's a few CGI moments that could have done with a little longer is post but on the whole it's pretty good.
Fun, exciting and a classic Predator tale without all the fluff, much better than what we've seen in recent years.
Also the addition of a dog companion is fun :-) Although we are in a world where every movie likes to show strong women I think this movie framed it very well and the Comanche and time frame were a great choice.
8/10
I watched all the first season and being a sci fi fan would love to enjoy it there's just a few problems.
All in all, it seem interesting and I watched it but I wasn't gripped at all. It was pretty meh.
I personally found this show awful. It just seemed slow and lacklustre. I have absolutely no caring about the main characters, Odin is okay but Shadow is really boring as hell. The episode diverge in to random really boring back stories and the finale was terrible....I will not be watching season 2
Terrible.
Update to my original 2021 review with new 2022 content. Will Smith's slap was more thrilling than this movie!
A hitman sent to kill Santa, on paper this idea sounds like something that could be so good. Especially if you've seen the Christmas episodes of American Dad which is exactly what I was thinking of with this movie. Sadly up until the last 20 minutes nothing happens, it's all pretty boring and the finale is pretty rubbish. I had high hopes but was left feeling like this movie had missed everything that should of been great.
So far it seems very good. The Chucky animation is very good and they've built a solid character foundation.
Having it follow on from the main movies with Charles Lee Ray and Brad Dourif is excellent! If it continues on how good episode 1 was it'll be enjoyable
The movie jumped from incoherent plot point to the next with a super idiotic big villian and a super obvious ending. A random series of unevents just designed to be whacky. I tried to like this but it was hot trash
As a HUGE trek fan who's also not up my own arse I gave it a go as I'll always watch anything Trek. It started off rocky but I've found the in jokes, the things shown/talked about they you never see in normal trek and the nods to everything trek to be highly amusing. If you take this more as a rick and morty meets star trek it's pretty enjoyable you just had to take it for what it is rather than a classic trek.
As an update to this after 2 seasons and very much looking forward to the third. Season 1 was good but Season 2 really brought the A game, the writing, the guests, the easter eggs and biggest of all CETACEAN OPERATIONS was excellent. This is easy one of my favourite feel good shows now
First 1.5 and a half of movie is build up with barely anything wonder woman esque (super hero wise) in, then after a few scenes she's losing her powers. Due the absolute cheese fest of a story about every wish comes with a price and redemption for all the bad guys. And what's worse, the end boss fight is with a CGI cheetah girl. And let's also not forget the side story, innocent man had his soul pushed out for Steve Trevor to body steal while Diana has sex with said mans body (sort of a body snatching rape) only to when he goes meet the guy and flirt with a little smile. I remember around 2 hours in thinking should I just turn this off. NOT A FAN!
Jesus Christ, this movie was trying to be meta but talk about how meta it is. Uggggh. Fucking terrible
The comments on this movie make me think those people were clearly not fans of the first movie.
To me this was an amazing follow up and much better than I was expecting. The build up, the lessons, the allowing the toons to do toon, the sacrifice at the end and such a great WB nostalia trip akin to ready player one.
As someone who as a kid LOVED the original I absolutely loved it!!!
I usually love Statham movies but this fell flat for me. Too much story build up trying to be something better than it is and very little actual action. Compared to other Statham movies the fight scenes were lacking and the big finale was pretty pants. It just felt like it stumbled from scene to scene and while I was mostly bored I held out hope for a decent ending that didn't come. I guess this is to be expected from Guy Ritchie.... Disappointed. Finally what story there was, was just same old and uninspired. Nothing of interested to see here
Being a massive fan on the TV show Banshee and both these shows coming from Cinemax I gave this show a shot and I'm glad I did. The actors and fight scenes in the show are excellent and for any fan of martial arts they are a must, also actor wise we all get Hoon Lee who played Job from Bansee which is a treat. But the strength of this show is not just the excellent martial arts often provided by Ah Sahm (Andrew Koji), it has a complex social story focused around not only waring gangs but also the police with some excellent side characters and the frustrated American Irish. The key actors for each of these groups such as Jagger, Bew and Weston-Jones provide some great acting chops. On the female side Joanna Vanderham also adds a great turn as a gorgeous strong love interest for Ah Sahm and Dianne Doan provides the heart of Ah Sahm's sister. All in all a great TV show that gets better and better, season 2 so far has brought some great characters that really compliment and some fun and challenging stories. Love it!
Utterly boring. I disliked Aquaman but at least Mamoa has some charisma, this just had more bland underwater sequences with Namor being dull, boring and lifeless. And the rest of the movie was mostly people just talking and being miserable
I love Dune and have enjoyed all incarnations of this (including the PC game from 30 years ago) and while I enjoyed this I think maybe knowing the story back to back made it less enjoyable for me. Villeneuve's style of directing for me I don't think is quite my style in the pacing and shot style so it doesn't quite click.
Visually it's stunning, cast is great but it's not one I'd rush to watch again myself. 6/10
Lowered my rating as I was so bored on S2E1 I turned it off.
Despite the synopsis of this movie sounding good sadly the first hour of this movie batman, superman and wonder woman are playing other characters in a number of scenarios with no real tie in to the justice league. It felt a very strange movie as you'll have no connection to the characters or know what's going on, however the last 30 is better and more classic.
Animation isn't that great, voice acting is good from Jensen but Stata felt like she was phoning it in.
Some enjoyment can be had with this if you stick through it but it's on the very low end of quality compared to the other movies
Crazy but epic show, really really odd and really just mental but it's really enjoyable if you're a twisted mental case :p
Bored suburban housewife starting a counterfeiting operation??? Wasn't Good Girls cancelled?
Turned it off after 45 minutes. Biggest pile of trash I've seen in a long long time! Bleh!
First I've not played the games so this review is purely on the movie!
Throughout watching this I thought I was just watching a copy of Willy's Wonderland!! However the key difference is that while I enjoyed Josh in Future Man I don't find him very charismatic and in this movie he was always just low key miserable and seemed like he was barely interested to be there, maybe that's the character but I didn't find the performance great. Then when you put this against Willy's Wonderland with a VERY similar plot but has Nic Cage brutally fighting possessed animatronic robot creatures this just falls flat.
Elizabeth Lail was also equally quite flat and boring so combined these characters were just not fun for me. I had a lot more fun watching Matthew Lillard in the movie who gave a great performance but other than that no so much. I just found this slow and boring and while willy's wonderland isn't a masterpiece and Nic being a mute was strange it's better to me in pretty much every way. Strange movie!
Started with some okayish action although using some blurry camera tricks to hide that is wasn't that well choreograped.
Then a slow middling journey of Denzel eating fish, drinking tea for 45 minutes then 1/2 of random gangster action.
I was never the biggest fan of these as they are you show and drawn out but at least they are over now
Wow, didn't know a lot going in but Jesus this was good. Horror survival alien crazy with some increasingly escalating weird shit. Excellent, gripping and crazy!!! :ok_hand::ok_hand:
This was so so terrible I turned it off. No plot, crap acting and poorly filmed horror plus the masks looks absolutely idiotic. Crap!
I had no idea what this movie was about so assumed it would be something bland and drama based around eating.
BOY was I wrong.
This similar to a fine dining experience was well presented with a good build up and introduction to the characters and the location. However more like a succulent cheeseburger this had some real meat in it, each course was presented with shock and intrigue as the master plan was realised, as cheese topping the acting was outstanding with ralph fiennes giving one hell of an amazing turn as chef. But all the characters were great, and extra props to Hong Chau as his assistant, she was superb.
For dessert the ending wrapped everything up in a clever and satisfying way that was very smart and popped the cherry on top of the whole experience.
9/10 easily especially if you know nothing going in!!! Excellent!
I watched it due to the popular reviewed on here being positive. Jesus, what a waste of time from actors I like. The plot was just random and didn't really show anything on the characters at all. All of the place and the horror aspects weren't even scary. Literally just the first walking down the stairs that was remotely chilling at least for a bit before they killed off the best actor. And the police, why didn't you give your name and ask them to look you up, there would be records to show you're not a crack head lol dumb af
For those people coming to this movie expecting another MCU or Nolan action fest you'll be disappointed. This movie is supposed to be a dark, raw, gritty representation of Batman where he's new and inexperienced and still finding his way. The source material such as the Long Halloween was exactly like this (there was event a 2 part animated movie last year).
You have to approach this movie more as an art house movie with a dark cinematic tone that walks you through the story. I mean there were also a lot of great action scenes woven in such as the car chase, the end fights and such to make it fairly strong on the action but that's not what THIS representation is supposed to be.
If you're an American with in inability to be away from your phone for 5 minutes or you have the attention span of a Gnat this isn't for you. If you want a Batman experienced and confident, this isn't for you. If you want Nolan style large, bright visuals.....this isn't for you.
If you want something raw, dark and gritty with a focus more on Batman coming to terms with things and batman learning to be "The greatest detective" then you might enjoy it.
For a lot of people saturated in the MCU blanket who can't enjoy a more drawn out noir film then skip this movie.
Mostly fairly boring and predictable. I was hoping for much better :-(
Good first season I think. I wasn't sure about the dual timeframe but I really like how it's playing out between both periods. Both sets of actors are very good, both the young and the older and some famous faces in there. Interested to see how the mystical / tribal elements play out next season. On the whole, keeps the attention and some interesting themes.
