God, I hated Becky so much. I couldn't enjoy the fact she was a little psycho who kicked the ass of 4 grown, criminal men. I can't tell if it's the actor or the development of the character. Either way, it ruined a kinda cool, very scary premise. Nice to see Kevin James doing something different, though. Also, this story leads fucking nowhere, and I hate that.
Deserved Oscar Winner. Definitely not the best movie of all time, not even the best korean movie, but it has a powerful story with a nice ending. Just one thing that is not logical: how in the hell nobody knows about the room under the house, I mean the rich daughter was there at the end with Kevin laying in front of it, now way she didn't see this
Stellar cast with some great acting, but the plot was weak
First off, great movie ! Not that overdrawn Hollywood stuff. Much more realistic. Really pulled me in and the fighting felt very tense.
As for the story I have to admit I hadn't known it before. Doesn't surprise me one bit though. But it's good to see that those things come to light at last and the soldiers get the recognition they deserve. One of the sad truth of life. Too many things have happened, and are still happening, we don't know about.
Fu**ing politicians always come out on top. Always have been, Always will be.
Julianne Moore is very good. I liked watched her dance. The movie as a whole is ok. I thought it did end well.
I rated this movie super high, almost exclusively for the ride it took me on. I agree with what many others have said about the movie, but that never stopped me from being thoroughly entertained, start to finish. Martyrs has its share of problems, but it was a hell of a fun ride!
One word to describe this movie: Sublime
It amuses me how full of shit people are. How exactly is this such a quality film? Don't get me wrong, it's a fun time-waster, but how is this good but then other movies of its ilk are completely ragged on...? It does nothing unique, everything in it has been seen a hundred times before, and it's soo over-the-top. It feels like watching a video game; why didn't they just go all the way and call it Wolfenstein? It was when scarface injects himself with the secret serum and goes Super Saiyan that I realized I was watching a Resident Evil movie. It's a fun, ridiculous B-Movie for sure, but let's not hold it up as great cinema...
Ok so, this show is basically a Death Note inspired trashy teen horror. It has nothing really to offer a viewer or fan of horror. It is cheesy, horrifically voice acted and the plot is just so nonsensical, that there really is no point in watching this. Death Note will always be one of the greats in anime horror and having fun and also playing it smart at the same time. But this series is just a cash-grab on the dark gorey tropes that this genre has sadly spiralled into. After finishing the whole season and seeing those dreaded words after a bad show: "to be continued", just makes me even more depressed than the show wanted me to feel for these unlikeable characters. So yes, this show has confirmed for a second season and I shall be watching it to please my OCD.
One of the more disturbing movies i have ever seen. That scene where those guys go underground to find someone and keep running into these gay sex scenes between guys was too horrific to watch. Also that rape scene with Monica Bellucci was just too real. It looked like they planted a hidden camera and waited for an actual rape to happen, it looked that real.
The movie is filmed in the same way as Memento was filmed, we see a few minutes of the movie and than it goes back to a few minutes before that.
This is certainly not a movie for the weak minded. If you are looking for something full with entertainment and fun than keep looking. This movie is not meant for you.
Pirates of the Caribbean meets Indiana Jones.
Nice try, just entertaining, not a masterpiece.
Like a forgettable Thanksgiving dinner, there was a lot going on but not as much drama as you expected.
This is basically a soundtrack album because there are a lot of decent songs but there isn't really any conflict. In the absence of a 'bad guy', the film lacks grandeur and stakes. Each problem that pops up is resolved in a couple of minutes so there is little here to hold the interest of anyone who's successfully graduated puberty.
Guns, a lot of guns
A truely unique documentary. Not only does the director talk to some of the people responsible for mass murders of commies in Indonesia but he also enlists them in a project to make a movie about their experiences. They then go on and even mix together diffrent genres (musicals, ganster film, etc.) for their story. This gives it a rather surreal vibe but it underlines the thinking of the perpetrators. The way they openly - without regret - talk about their past actions is disturbing. Needless to say there is a climax to the movie and it's all captured with just the camera rolling. I now might also know how "sick to the stomach" sounds like. Well worth for some astonishing scenes and it only occasionally drags on.
As of now, there seem to be three different versions: a 115 minute cut for the festival release, a directors cut of 159 minutes (the one I watched and belive is really the real one (matches RT)) and another one that is unfinished and apperantly is shared in Indonesia (official screenings are not permitted there). The last one has some credits/scenes in it which were removed for the "proper" release for security reasons (many credits have been listed as anon).
One of the worst horror movies I've seen in a while.
Being a Colombian I can tell you that it was set in a perfect way.
The colors, the cultural diversity, the music that represents us, the typical foods, the personalities, everything. You could even say that the background on the violence is very well done. In Colombia we have a big problem that is forced internal displacement, so much so that we are the number one country in this. The fact that they gave a few little moments about this conflict ... brought me to tears, but I really appreciate it.
It is the perfect tribute to my beautiful land. I loved it.
In addition, I feel that it is very easy to connect with the characters and give each one a little development, considering that there are so many.
I have a little criticism for the movie though. I feel like a little more explanation was needed as to why Mirabel could not receive the miracle when she was a child and the specific reason why Casita was cracking. Maybe they could make it a bit longer to explain this, but overall I liked it.
Pd: Lin Manuel Miranda never disappoints, I'm his fan 4eveeeeer
Better action movie than Endgame. Fite me.
I wish they had done a mini series with this IP. It has a lot of potential but the movie felt a bit rushed. Still really liked the movie, well done, good story even though it is quite predictable, but the world is great and I wish we could have seen more of it.
How much did the Trump administration pay Spike Lee to have that stupid make America great again cap all over the movie?
after 30min: what the heck i am watching here ?
after 60min: ok, i got the story. So what now ?
after 90min: what?! Are you serious. That makes no sense. What a s****y movie.
after 120min: wow! just, wow!
after 147min: what a totally great movie. Typical Lynch, but it make much MUCH more sense than "Lost Highway".
Totally liked it. Rating: 8/10
i just watched this movie for the second time and it's still fantastic
From a certain aspect it is a fable about every coin has two sides or in other words nothing is fully black or white. The members of this family make dubious things in order to be able to eat, drink, wash themselves etc. or shortly to survive.
The perfect example which embodies this theory is the stoyline of Yuri. On the one hand, we can look at this like they kidnapped a child and later on taught her how to steal. On the other hand, they took a little girl in who was neglected by her parents. They looked after her, nurtured and cared for her and she became a member of this family who has nothing much but thenselves and they appreciate that little what they got. As Yuri was got back to her birth parents by the authorities she is treated like a pain in the ass by her mother. So, I ask the question: which family made her bad example exactly?
They give each other home, love and eventually an opportunity to the children to break out from that poor life situation.
Nostalgia is a strange thing.. I remember loving this as a child. Because it must have been up to 20 years since I last saw this movie, I thought it's about time to revisit Fantasia.. and I deeply regret it.
The characters are dull, the child actors are emotionless (looking scared with open mouths, wide eyes and fake tears) and either whispering, screaming or thinking out loud to explain what's going on, the soundtrack is unbearably cheesy and the story_telling_ is basically non-existent; it jumps from one scene to another until it all ends in a ride on the fluffy white (dog) dragon.
The only thing I still liked were those handmade, mechanical creatures, including the (dog) dragon.
Dutch Christmas classic, several tv-networks run it
Great movie if you want to waste your time properly.
it’s a good movie although i expected more of it. baymax is so adorable that makes everything better.
also i didn’t like the way they deal with the other characters, they are not well developed as we can’t even remember their names.
