Nolan is a masterful filmmaker and aspects of Oppenheimer deserve tremendous praise. However, sometimes Nolans creativity with timelines can hinder storytelling. Oppenheimer is a example of this. I also find it strange that Nolan devoted so much time to politics when the scientific and psychological aspects of the story are much more interesting.
3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Oppenheimer’:
Much of the film, particularly in the beginning, felt more like a montage than a movie. The scattered-ness of the scenes created a disconnect that made it difficult to absorb what exactly was going on.
Why the black and white? What purpose did that serve? I’ll probably find out at some point, but it’d be nice to know in real time.
I certainly didn’t expect Nolan to give us Oppenheimer for Dummies, but I really wish he would have. Performances were clearly impressive (I’m looking at you, Cillian), but they’re hard to fully appreciate when everyone is having rapid-fire conversations about fairly complex situations — and you’re too busy trying to keep up. This being my biggest qualm.
"I'm not sure I can negotiate with a man named after a breakfast pastry."
3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Talk to Me’:
It peaked with that brutal scene, when the game took a violent turn (I straight-up gasped), which was fairly early on, and the rest of the film never really reached that level of shock again.
Was it just me, or was the audio pretty awful? So many conversations were unclear. I couldn’t understand how the mom died. She took too many pills, on accident, and then clawed at the door? How does that work?
I really liked the concept of the hand (albeit somewhat confusing). And I think it’s interesting to see it used as some sort of party game. But when characters are dumb enough to revel in something so awful, it’s difficult to care about their fate. I wasn’t fully invested in them.
Why deliver half of a season, this cliffhanger is to much.
So far this season is not really my cup of tea. It's heavy on the politics (yes I know that's true to the source material) and I miss the monster hunts and the more intimate scenes between Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri.
It's the art style and animation for me. Different from all the other Pixar inspired animated movies from the triple A productions out there. It's like this one has it's own identity, its own brand and feel.
In terms of the movie itself, its pretty different from the first one, but at the same time, tries to follow the rhythm the first movie set. The multiverse concept is picture perfect, the characters just class. 9.
Surprise! It's a 2 parter. Can't wait for part 2- "Beyond The Spiderverse" soon enough
Great episode, but it didn't feel like Black Mirror. It's missing the sci-fi element, the dystopian topic, the futuristic technology aspect.
the one eyed boy aged like +10years while the Rhaenyra's kids looked like they aged only 3years. the passage of time is so wildly different between characters, makes it feel so inconsistent
I watched it at 1.25x and yet it felt slow like the previous 2. It looks like theories about Marion was right.
Finally last episode is coming, hope it can redeem itself after 3 filling episodes.
Am I the only one who is not liking this con story line thing? I don't know what it is but it just lost me..... It started out so so strong but this story line...
Despite being a very long movie Avatar: The Way of the Water at times is a superior sequel. That is more beautiful to look at “especially in IMAX 3D.” With some better action and adventure.
The movie might even manage to make the Avatar haters fans. Even if James Cameron doesn’t have something so good on his hands. That he can drag it out to seven movies.
What I hoped for: descent cyberpunk tech noir detective with megacorporation and government conspiracy
What I got instead: another religious centered bullshit trivia

Me: Yeah, because people randomly breaking into song in other musicals is totally realistic.
Annette is like an album that has awesome cover art and no good tunes.
Seriously, a modern opera without any decent songs? Not for me, thanks.
I give it an A for Ambition (and also for Adam Driver, who looked and acted amazing), but the rest of the film flounders like a gorgeous yacht in a storm of awkward.
The first Pixar movie that I ever cried for, maybe it was the beautiful art, the compelling story or the fact that I was being represented on tv, no I'm not a sea monster, but if you replace all of the times that "sea monster" was said in this film and instead use "gay" you'll get what I mean. Hat's off to the writers, I could go on and on about how perfect the parallels are but I'll just have to silenzio bruno!!
The scene with June throwing the line DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME back at Serena was EVERYTHING.
How does bad ideas like this even make through the studios? I tried to watch it, made it to 7 mins and then I just couldn’t bare to watch anymore. Time to drop this show. This animation was beyond garbage.
Why did they think that we couldn't live without this show? The animation sucks. Not worth watching.
So.. the director lost a bet right? Cuz this show is now the adult version of my kid's barbie movies..
what a waste of my bloody time.
Ford: “Here let me tell you what is happening”
Me right now: what the fuck is happening?
I loved all of the references to the original works and past episodes. I think that the implementation, however, was a little rough. It didn't focus on telling one thing, but many fractured things, which took away from the storytelling. In fact, it was like the episode itself was suffering from a drug induced state, not just one of the characters. While it was still a good episode, but it wasn't the same quality as the normal season's episodes.
What the flying fuck just happened?
"It's just a flying saucer, Ed. We gotta go." lol, Peggy kills me.
