It's predictable and unfortunately mediocre :(
for me it's a weak starter episode. but we'll see. it's anthology so everything can happen.
kinda a shame to finish the season (possibly?) with a rerun...
It feels like the producers want to annoy the Trekkie as much as they can with Voyager-era beeping sounds, trials without a lawyer (Starfleet ISN'T military!!!), a completely different Sarek...
Besides from the canon errors, which I have finally been able to overlook since episode two, the main character herself isn't one that "fits" into Star Trek. I only talk about the role, not the actress.
I just don't like Michael. She is self-righteous, calls daddy when her ship is in danger, she isn't loyal... In short, she misses any part of personality a Starfleet officer should have.
She's got a problem with herself and it is absolutely unrealistic she would be an officer anywhere.
Update time!

Aaaand: I was right: She wasn't welcomed on the Discovery because she's a great Officer, she just accidentally happened to be this universe's counterpart of someone Mirror Lorca needed to become Emperor.
So it's official: We've got Star Trek with an incapable main character.
Oh yeah, as presumed, she's messed up like 97% of her tasks in the meantime.
MacFarlane dialed back the juvenile humor to a near-perfect level and the show's fondness for vintage Trek was evident throughout. I was pleasantly surprised and will be back for more.
"The Last Man on Earth" has been an absolute riot so far through the first 3 episodes, adding its own unique comedic twist on a classic premise, and looks like it will continue to go strong throughout its first season. Will Forte is back taking on a slightly different persona from his usual MacGruber and channeling a bit of his own Tom Hanks in "Castaway".
While the first episode takes on a more serious tone, the second episode is where things REALLY take off and the show comes into its own comedically. Give this show a few episodes to see what it is really about.
Will Forte and Kristen Schaal have an instant chemistry that leaves me cringing and smiling at the same like classic "The Office" episodes featuring Michael Scott's best escapades. I can't wait until more of the rumored cast members show up and add even more wrinkles.
One last word. Fox, if you dare go "Firefly" on this show and cancel it early, I will not be pleased. That is all. Go watch this show now!!
