I did not expect this movie to be as entertaining as it was. I had always thought Chris Pratt and the rest of the Guardians actors were the only reason those movies were so good but man was I wrong! Gunn has now taken two superhero groups that were not expected to produce blockbuster movies like the Avengers, Justice League, Fantastic Four or X-Men because of their lack of popularity and knocked them out of the park! I'd like to see what he could do with a premiere superhero team like X-Men or Fantastic Four. They both need a reboot and he would be a great choice to take one of them over!
For someone who hasn't read the books, I was disappointed with the lack of closure about the entities and protomolecule. If they weren't going to answer any of the questions viewers already had about them, why create more at the beginning of every episode? It didn't seem like a final season to me and I'm really disappointed because the writers knew this was the last season. If they were only allowed 6 episodes then Inaros should have been dead by episode 2 or 3 leaving the rest to focus on the real antagonist of the show that most viewers wanted answers about. Hopefully, they knew about a plan to make a movie or something down the road because it's not fair to the fans of the show to play with our curiosity and interest like that. Overall though I thought it was great if you take away the first 5 to 10 minutes of each episode of this season. Having Alex die at the end of last season really helped increase the drama of each battle scene. It felt like anyone could die if he did. I'm really gonna miss the Roci crew, Drummer, and everything else on this incredible show. I really hope there will be a movie or another season on another streaming service someday soon! If not at least there is always the book series to get some closure from.
If "Jacob had a thing for numbers" is all the explanation they give us about the numbers being everywhere. I have a feeling that all the other mystery explanations to come will be very disappointing as well. It's starting to seem like the writers just threw any weird mystery they could think of in the scripts with no idea how to explain them.
Overall Show Ranking - 8.8/10
I wish all these shows would stop ending seasons with massive cliffhangers. People will watch the next season either way if they like the show. And the ones who didn't or are still on the fence about it don't care enough to wait a year or two to see what happens!
After watching Loki's inaugural season finale I can say it's definitely one of my favorite tv series of 2021. It was way better than The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Wandavision IMO. It started out very strong with the first 3 episodes making it my #1 show of 2021 up to that point. It had great character chemistry with Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston's type of humor creating something great to watch. The introduction of the TVA was also done perfectly. It made the TVA very interesting which made the mystery of the story that much better. But the last half of the show brought it down the rankings for me. It was still good high-quality tv, just not my #1 show anymore. [spoilers] Loki and Mobius didn't have a lot of screen time together and something about the two Loki variants falling for each other felt wrong; like incest or something, I guess. And I kept waiting for them to say the whole "using Infinity Stones as paperweights" was just a ruse to get Loki's respect because that part of the story doesn't fit at all! It makes the Avengers, Thanos, and everything else in the MCU look small and meaningless! Those and some of the humor towards the different variants, like the alligator Loki, were my only gripes. The explanations and answers to the TVA mysteries were pretty good IMO. Shout out to Jonathan Majors too! He did a great job showing the insanity of "He Who Remains"; which stemmed from so many years of solitude and timeline pruning. It was a fun performance to watch. [/spoilers] Overall it is a very good show that every MCU fan should watch along with the ones who aren't!
I knew that's why they never showed his or I guess it's now her face! This has a chance to be the top show of 2021 out of ALL networks/streaming sites IMO. A great mix of mystery, humor, setting, and most important the characters/actors. Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston fit perfectly together. Both have that subtle smart-ass kind of humor that they throw right back at each other as Wilson did with Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers. Really looking forward to watching the next episode!
Wow! I'm glad I don't have to wait a year for the next season to start. Talk about a cliffhanger... fans would have stormed ABC like the capital if they canceled the show after that season finale. Finding out that Locke wasn't brought back to life is pretty sad if he really did die for good. His story will be so depressing and sad outside of the few months he had on the island. But even there he was always fighting people who didn't believe him. Hopefully his story isn't over and he gets things going his way for a change.
