Life is like a box of chocolates, but Forrest Gump is more like a steak dinner. I say that because you are very likely going to fit into one of two camps: "I Love Steak!" or "I'm a Vegan." Forrest Gump is virtually the story of a guy who doesn't strive to be the center of attention but life just happens that way for him. Is it convoluted, yes quite but that's the point. With all that happens to Forrest, he is still unphased and unchanged by it and perhaps that's why these events continue to occur around him. I love the performances in this completely but I do understand that Hanks' role in particular could be seen as not aging too well or even a bit controversial. My only issue with it is the length. Two and a half hours for any movie becomes a commitment and luckily it does deliver a story that's worthy of my time.

Hey guys, you ready to let the dogs out? Comedies are always set up to fail being arguably the most subjective genre of film. The Hangover in its premise isn't the greatest thing in the world, it's drunk Memento. But what makes Hangover work so well are the actors involved, primarily the main three; Cooper, Helms & Galifianakis. They embody those characters perfectly, feeling like extensions of their own natural dispositions and the contrast between them makes for a fun watch. Director Todd Phillips also knows how to juggle a group of characters on the screen virtually an entire movie and not lose anybody in the shuffle. Definitely deserving of at least a single watch.

Well if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go home and have a heart attack. Tarantino's second outing as a movie director is Pulp Fiction, just think about that for a minute. This is the one that cemented his name in Hollywood as a powerhouse director. Much like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp's use of non-linear story-telling for reasons I still do not fully understand works wonderfully and I'm not so sure that the movie would've if it was told in chronological order. Grade A performances by the majority of the cast which a film filled to the brim with monologues and long-running conversations required to maintain the audience's focus. I believe that's why I enjoy Tarantino movies so much, I'm a dialogue guy and when a script is well-written it doesn't need the safety net of anything visually over the top. That's not to say though this doesn't have its share of eye candy. Vintage Tarantino blood, shock, & violence infused with a great story equates to a fun time for most all who watch.

I was hoping this movie would be better than the first, but it's more of the same. I'm less critical than most so I can truthfully say I enjoyed watching it and I can truthfully say I hope Venom's future interactions with Spider-Man will fix this franchise so I can love watching Venom. Not enough action for a movie with two characters who eat people, more like a rom-com honestly. It is nice and short, not the typical 2 hours we're accustomed to. Lastly killing Carnage after a single movie is a mistake in my opinion.

Not a horror movie, thriller movie sure but the only horrific thing about FD are the deaths which seems to be all you need to make this movie or any of the others. Much like Saw does later on, if someone can think of new unique ways to kill a group of people individually, then a movie can be made. Good movie, good enough to continue with the sequels.

Not too much diminishing returns for the third film. I do appreciate the genre label of 'Mystery' in addition to 'Horror', as I do find these Scream movies to be more of a 'Who dunnit?' movie than your typical hack-n-slash. As others have mentioned after (re)watching this post #metoo is a bit unnerving now. The meta-callout of shall we say the 'Weinstein Treatment' of actors, most being women, is a tad disturbing for two reasons: One, with Dimension Films at that time a label under a Weinstein-controlled Miramax, Harvey had to have watched this before it was released and rather than seeing the scene about the producer trading sexual favors for work as hideous, it may have normalized it for him giving him some gross justification. Two, the fact that Wes Craven chose to keep this in likely knowing Harvey would see it and the giving insight to the public of how show biz was and no one bats an eye about it, is just sad. Aside from that bit that makes me wince for its implication, the Scream franchise continues to entertain me.

Fun movie and a unique twist to a classic fairy tale. Not being from a big animation studio is evident visually. The animation's not bad, just needs fine tuning that I imagine the low budget didn't allow.

A pillar in '80s family cinema, a pillar in the career of Elisabeth Shue, and a must-see film for those dabbling in decade essentials. Now granted there are quite a few things that are said and done in this flick that just would not fly today nor should it. While I know this film could've been just as good without it's, at times, problematic dialogue and visual gags, I do not condone nor condemn past movies of moral or ethic mistakes of it's time. Looking beyond that, it is a good adventure comedy.

A fun movie. As a kid I never understood the bad sales of the Gorgonite figures, as I gravitated towards those as opposed to the G.I. Joe knockoffs, The Commando Elite. Regardless, I wanted them all because this movie entertained me then and can still entertain me now. I wouldn't claim this to be better than it's spiritual Joe Dante predecessor, Gremlins, but it is definitely a "if you like one then you'll like the other scenario".

Before Disney+ gifted us with the entire series, this was the only piece of Recess, via Netflix, I had available to scratch that itch. Now after going down Nostalgia Lane and watching the series, I need to revisit this to see if said nostalgia didn't affect my score to haphazardly. Still though, the animation is on par with the show, the voice acting is great and even having some of the actor slightly change their voice to empathize the progression of adolescence. It's fun, a fan of Recess need not bat an eye for this Series Finale of sorts.

What's worse is this was his last special before passing away. This did prove though, Ralphie has always been able to make me laugh, even a weak set such as this. Even though I would steer anyone to watch Girth of a Nation or Austintatious first as opposed to Unruly, if you like Ralphie this will suffice.

Three scary stories told by Shrek & the crew a la 'Are You Afraid of the Dark?' in the abandoned Duloc Kingdom. the premise is great and the lead up to the stories I enjoyed. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the stories. Shrek's parody story of 'The Exorcist' is the best one. Gingy's 'Bride of Frankenstein' story is okay, but Puss & Donkey's 'Psycho' spoof is just not good. A kid who likes Shrek will no doubt like this short special and that is who these are made for, but it is a pass for me.

Hmmm, what's Blue Collar Comedy divided by 2? Not worth the time. Jeff's sets have always been fairly enjoyable for me, with the 'You might be a Redneck' stuff being my least favorite. With Larry, I'm not sure if I 'outgrew' his humor, overexposure to him caused burnout, his comedy not evolving subjectively, or a combination of the three. If you're a fan of both of them, it's worth a try but fair warning, it may disappoint.

A hidden gem for Disney fans and a viewing requirement for John Candy fans. Very loosely based on the debut Jamaican bobsleigh team in the '88 Olympics. The humor is a bit cheeky and somewhat cliche at times but Candy seemed to be able to make me look over that. Simply put it's a fun time.

I watched this doc without ever seeing Man on the Moon. But I did go into this knowing the careers of both Jim Carrey and Andy Kaufman. Seeing the behind the scenes of a movie with a method actor in progress shows the true ups and downs of said approach. On one hand, making many of the cast & crew go through hell the entire shoot for the sake of staying in character seems entirely unnecessary. Yet, by the same token, could anybody pull off Kaufman without staying Kaufman from start to finish. Maybe, that answer is somewhere in the middle, Andy wasn't always plugged into bizarre at 11 and seeing Jim be that way all the time makes one wonder. Nevertheless, a lovely insight into the minds of two unique people, tethered together from two planes of existence by a single movie.

I love mythologies, folklores, & legends. I daresay that the story of Heracles, or Hercules as its been romanized to be, is easily one of my favorites. I did go into this believing it to be a adaptation of the story of the 12 labors, with the poster and the trailers showing off the battle with the Nemean Lion, the first labor. But instead what I watched was quite different. A modern retelling where stories of the legendary Hercules are just that, stories, inflation of reality. It's an interesting take, one that I don't disagree with. Frankly, I enjoyed this movie, but also recognizing it as a film that I'll likely never revisit.

That said I like Rodney but his new shtick, if you will, of fat single guy flat out doesn't work. I do applaud him for trying as no comedian should rest solely on what worked before at the risk of tarnishing what came before it. However, if this special cannot cater to a large, single Rodney Carrington fan, then who can it cater to?

It is very hard to deny the adorable, fun feel of this kid flick. It's not a good film and if you're watching it for the first time as an adult, you most likely will ask for your 82 minutes back. But I have a soft spot for movies that put a cast of kids in the driver's seat, they often bring a unique quality that can elevate an otherwise lackluster film. Little Rascals does just that for me, in addition to a nostalgic bump, these kids uplift a bad movie just enough to be on the good half of my scale.

Is this film a Halloween classic or a Christmas one? Maybe a November classic to meet somewhere in the middle. I love the songs, the score, & the animation. For some reason though I find this drags a bit for me at times especially in the second half and I shouldn't feel that way for a movie under 90 minutes. Again, I believe this is a really good movie but the Tim Burton pacing in this one just stops it from topping either of my holiday essentials.

The one when we say farewell. There are very few sitcoms that get to come to natural conclusion and a true ending. There are even fewer shows in general that manage to have a satisfying series finale, which is deceptively difficult to achieve. Friends manages to pull that very well and it was a very big deal when it happened, possibly the last big TV moment of it's kind. Every character seems to have made it to a good conclusion to leave on with the exception to Joey. That may have been the justification for his spin-off. An easier way would've been for him to be cast in a major motion picture and was soon to become big star beyond Days of Our Lives. But even still, it's a satisfying end to a satisfying show.
