Before I talk about the effects (which are without doubt amazing) I really want to say what a good job they did of expanding this series world, the changes they made from the movie really created a deeper depth to the story and characters. Explaining the law of the world, the inhabitants and how all the events/ characters are connected is what really sold me on this series (something I think the movie originally lacked in my opinion). Overall I highly enjoyed and was raring to play the next episode after the previous had finished, can't wait for season 2 to come (hopefully doesn't take to long to produce).
Honestly don't waste your time watching this documentary. The documentary only really looks at anime that Netflix has produced (this documentary is basically a 58 minute ad for Netflix anime) and doesn’t really give a proper prospective of anime or Japanese culture at all, so much of this documentary feels so awkward/ cringe with over the top music or unnecessary scenes.
Why is Season 02 marked as specials with wrong air dates? We have a Season 02 now which is airing but it's not properly listed on Trakt! Someone please fix this mistake.
"If God were a city planner, He would not put the playground next to a sewage system." - Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Honestly rather disappointing! Was hoping to find out Doctor Strange or the Wakandan princess had done something to the two infinity stones that give them the ability to undo the events but in the end they just use time travel. Felt like a cheap/ stupid solution with no backbone to it.
Season 3 is just a joke. Season 2 had worse animation than Season 1 but was still animated to a competent level whereas the newest season can't even do that. The terrible animation can be blamed on the anime having been given to a new studio (Studio Deen) who then outsourced to an even lower level studio (Marvy Jack), for a reasonably well known and popular anime this is just disgusting to watch. If you are reading this I would advise you to stop watching this mess of an anime and just read the manga which has far superior art and better storytelling. As a fan of series I wish that a newer season would have been delayed and given to studio that can produce a high level of animation for the series (BONES, MAPPA, etc. or go back to A1). One of the hypest fights in the series (Meliodas vs Escanor/ The One) just looked like a piece of shit, even the fan animation on YouTube did a better job.
Best comedy on TV! So idiotic it's genius!
Seems like they spent all the budget on Anthony Mackie.
Terrible plot, and abysmal execution.
They turned the show from a groundbreaking neo noir cyberpunk/cyber thriller to some generic bullshit.
Do yourself a favour and skip this one. (you won't miss much, but if you are still hesitant, just watch the first few episodes and you will understand what I am talking about. Play it at 10x if you still care and want an alternative to completing the show other than painfully watching every episode like I did.)
He's finally reached the end of the D.E.N.N.I.S. System and is trying to Separate Entirely...
Stunning. Mature. Intelligent.
The animation has sudden inorganic movements, which remind me of RWBY, and can be a bit disconcerting, yet somehow endearing, so I don't mind too much. I can't expect this to be this season's hit with younger audiences, but for mature viewers it hits a frequently unfulfilled craving. I am excited for more!
Stupid, insulting and a real stinker. The Baby Boss made me wish there was a Planned Parenthood for films.
The only good parts were the beginning and the ending, other than that it is filled with Useless CGI. Older Broly movies were far better than this one, and they have totally changed the story of Broly and the history of saiyans from the original one.
Even after watching the movie completely, it was not clear, Frieza was being Evil or just Amusing?.
Well, I hope they consider this movie as a canon and make Broly appear in the anime as well.
I honestly think this whole season was a waste of time because I can't even name three things that would make this season relevant. It just feels like pure filler with bad writing. I'm sure I could have skipped this whole thing and didn't miss out on anything.
- I can't believe Bear just suddenly remembered he had a camera installed. What an absolute lame "twist" to solve Kenny's death.
- Geraldine was just... pointless? I thought she might be involved with the Twelve or has some personal agenda, hidden secrets or something. But I guess the whole point of her was to have mommy issues?
- I was hoping for more infos about the Twelve when Villanelle becomes a keeper, but I neither know what a keeper even is nor do I have any more knowledge about the Twelve. Disappointing and feels like a wasted story that Villanelle tried to go up the ranks.
- The ending was okay. I wish I could be more emotionally involved, but the whole season was such a drag that I just feel... numb. It's nice they finally chose each other, but I hope that'll be relevant in the next season because the cat and mouse game gets a bit boring by now. And I hope they'll finish with season four.
Finally! Sunday morning routine is back again!
Season 1:
This show failed in my eyes. It lacked consistent, good writing. It had a great premise with a lot of potential... but many things that happened broke the suspension of disbelief in this viewer because they are fabricated for an unnecessary and pointless dramatic effect, break physical laws, or ignore obvious intelligent decisions. There are too many contrivances. Characters make the most irrational and illogical decisions for absolutely no reason whatsoever multiples times. Many main or likable character deaths are forced and pointless beyond being incredibly unbelievable and useless. The deaths serve next to no purpose and would be avoided by any human with even the most average intelligence. Examples can be found in my comments for each episode in spoiler tags.
Story way underperformed for the premise it started with at the beginning. Music and sound was great. Some amazing backdrops and still scenes. The art does a good job of showing how ugly human emotions can be at times.
I was waiting until Tower of God had finished to give my overall verdict on the show and what my thoughts were when watching it. Before I talk about anything my opinion is solely based on the anime alone and nothing from the Webtoon since I haven't read it at all.
To start off I really wasn't a fan of the art style (too minimalistic and lacking in depth & detail) but I know the art style was chosen to somewhat replicate the art from the source material which I can somewhat overlook and after a couple of episodes I got used to it. The thing I can't overlook was the terrible animation (I don't know if this was due to Crunchyroll's budget (highly doubtful since GOH looks a lot higher quality) for the show or the animation studio's (Telecom Animation) talent that handled TOG), all the fight scenes felt really flat and mediocre (except maybe the Yuri vs Yuga fight which didn't really have a lot of animation but felt more impactful and stronger than any of the other fights throughout the show).
Episodes 01 to 11 (and somewhat 12) feel very slow in terms of overall story development besides a few glimpses into side characters origins & scenes outside the tests. The show feels like it gives very limited information with only small little Easter eggs of information here and there to keep you hooked. Also while I got to better know certain characters and got the core logic/ dynamics of the series I still have tons of questions regarding a lot aspects of the series (I don't know if its better explained in the WebToon or in more expanded upon further down the line) such as how some characters seem like they originate from the world of the Tower (like Khun, Anaak, Endorsi etc.) where as characters like Bam, Shibisu, Serena feel like they were somewhat Isekaid into the world.
Episode 13 is definitely in my opinion the turning point of the show and really rewrites the shows character dynamics and what we presumed had actually happened. It is only until the story is flipped and seen from the perspective of Rachel that our main character had been chasing all this time that we have a true insight into the events that had unravelled and the kind of person she truly is (which I just loved). Also given the events of the final episode I now see what we have seen so far is the prologue to the main arc of the show (the actual climbing of the tower) and Bam getting his answers.
The best thing about TOG (the thing that got me interested & most excited about the show) was the OST composed by Kevin Penkin. Like Kevin's previous works (Shield Hero, Made in Abyss, Under the Dog etc.) the music is top notch and is the key element that really draws you into scenes and amplifies the show, to be honest if the anime didn't have his music I would of definitely rated the show lower since it feels like the shows really relies on the musical score to support it.
To conclude I do think the show was very overhyped from the start but despite having mixed feelings with the series I would like to see a Season 2 and continuation of the story (especially since I'm not a huge fan of manhwa/ webtoons for various reasons) and since the show was relatively popular I could definitely see that happening (there's enough content for another season looking at the WebToon). To be honest even at the end I still feel like Bam doesn't have much individuality as a character, he still feels very two dimensional and really only obsessing about Rachel was his main characteristic throughout the show (running around and being depressed like a dog who has lost their owner). Bam is also unfortunately yet another anime character that falls into the overpowered but doesn't know it trope which was rather a disappointing aspect of the show.
About as literary as modern sci-fi on TV gets. Digging the atheist vs. believers angle. Really enjoyed the pilot: thought provoking mixed with good action (esp. the second half) and can't wait to see where this series goes.
As a reader of the manga I've really enjoyed this light-hearted story about an alternate world where instead of hunting whales they hunt dragons. Personally the anime captures the same tone and atmosphere of the source material perfectly with a really complimentary OST that really pulls you into the scenes. I also really loved the watercolour style and diverse colour palette used on the clouds. Personally I think this has gone under the radar and probably still will due to how it was in the annoying Netflix jail.
Let's get the elephant out of the room now - Gina Carano needs to go. Her acting ability isn't exactly the best, sure, but combined with being the worst performer on the show she's also an awful person in a franchises whose modus operadi since 1977 has been one of inclusion and tolerance. And it's a shame too cause Cara Dune is a great character who has a ton of potential - a recast would do wonders.
Outside of that obvious, glaring frustration, this is another great episode, and one that showcases Carl Weathers' ability to direct action and puppetry extremely well. He treats his episode with a light touch, going along for the ride with a healthy dose of humor for good measure. All of the plot dumps and questions the episodes raise seem to indicate we are heading into Episode IX setup, which may divide some fans but I appreciate the sequel trilogy love (and other Legends love at the end of episode) just as much as original trilogy and prequel trilogy. Overall another solid entry in a much better season.
So the season starts with a 4 years time jump and we are seeing things from the other perspective. What we know so far:
The Curse of Ymir is 13 years.. When Eren spoke about it, he had 8 years left, and Armin had 13.. In the last episode of Season 3, we see a time jump but I don’t remember how much so I wonder how many years do they have left with the current time jump as well?
After the big reveal in the last season and the reality of titans, it was sad seeing all those titans being thrown out of the plane to meet their demise. It feels weird to root for Reiner and Zeke in this episode.
Not a big fan of the opening and closing sequences soundtrack.
god bless [pas]. always love myself some quality subs.
Watch out star wars, the korean are in the space now:thumbsup:.
Good plot with some nice twists :heavy_check_mark:
Great acting :heavy_check_mark:
Decent space CGI:heavy_check_mark:
This is THE anime that we've all been waiting and yearning for. Many of us hardcore Mushoku Tensei fans have been waiting years upon years for an anime adaptation to finally hit, and HIT it has. I was a little skeptical with a brand new studio undertaking this, but all the previews had looked great so I was cautiously optimistic. The source material is my absolute favorite isekai series (which says a lot) and the light/web novel will always hold a special place in my fandom. So how were the first two episodes so far (first has aired officially and the first two were previewed beforehand)?
AMAZING. I really don't know if it's just because the source material is that good, but this has been a SPOT ON adaptation so far. Right when I heard "Gintoki" as the NEET narrator, I knew shit was gonna be good. The sense of humor and pervertedness of Rudy is really well incorporated throughout the first two episodes, and makes this more than just a "another OP isekai". But even with that sense of humor, the anime has taken great depths to give solid (but not overwhelming) background info on the characters and highlighting particularly serious moments. This was especially evident in the second episode where the handling of Rudy's "fall into NEETness" and past trauma was interweaved perfectly into his current situation and setting.
I can't wait for the rest of the anime to air. It seems that a second cour has already been green-lighted so let's hope this can turn into one of those long-running anime series. If they can make it to the school arcs, I'll have lived a complete life...
I knew regardless of what this new version was people would hate! I’m so tired of people being so critical lol. Nothing is going to be as great as the classic and any version of this movie would be compared to the original. It wasn’t fantastic but I didn’t care because I loved seeing Eddie and the rest of the cast in this light. I didn’t go into watching this for any other reason except the nostalgia of it all, and you should to!
As a manga reader, I really don't mind if they change the plot. I just wanted an adaptation that stands by its own. Sadly, the patches show. It started with two chapters with little development and two montages of daily life in the same place, and now we have all the exposition crammed into one episode that makes this a bloated development. And even then the direction of this episode was really off: it didn't really picked up where the tension should arise, when a scene should change its focus, when a speech should be cut short and even left a void where some soundtrack was an obvious fit.
This show has nothing exceptional about it at all. It's pretty lame and cookie cutter. Disappointing.
Probably the first four-hour movie that I watched in one sitting. Not a perfect one, but the first fiction that caused me emotions since "Endgame". The plot is interesting. The characters are developed. The soundtrack is incredible. It could have been a beginning of something, but, you know what happened. Such a pity that a franchise with this potential has been lost.
Man....... I'm so excited for this one!
Reading the manga was far more enjoyable than watching this shitty CGI.
