The king deserved a better movie to be hot and evil in
The haters are going to hate this movie. Mostly because they just default to hating Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel. Come in just looking for things to hate. But this movie is a LOT of fun. Go in in a light hearted mood. Numerous things had me laughing out loud in the cinema.
The end could have been wrapped up a bit faster.
And OMFG THE MID-CREDITS SCENE!!! OMGOMGOMOGOD!!! (there is no post-credits scene).
Sweet and enjoyable, better and with more heart than your usual HS rom-com
Just as refreshing: the fact that it's a gay love story is normalized, as it should be. Meaning that there's not some sort of condemnation or stigma from some other characters (which usually happens with movies on this topic), bigotry, having to hide etc
And I know all those things are still unexplicably present in our world, but I also feel that while it's right and necessary to show what people are going through because of their orientation, the hate and discrimination, their suffering and pain - we're also at a point where it's important to show as well stories where the fact that it's a love story between two girls is not even a deal, not even news.
Cause I think that showing positive feedback, that it's ok - may help younger people who are struggling, to feel that it's ok being the way they are and loving whoever they love, and consider it normal
Not good or funny. It’s satire that becomes the stupidity it’s making fun of.
You have all the time in the world :hearts:
I laughed quite a lot.
This takes itself so goddamn seriously, it’s almost like it doesn’t know that it’s really fucking trashy.
How does a director look at this material and think: yeah, I can make a serious thriller out of this.
Besides being hilariously dumb, the dialogue and acting are truly on a whole other level.
If the director comes out and admits that they intentionally parodied Will Smith’s “what are we, some kind of Suicide Squad” line in this, I’ll reconsider my score.
Until then: 2/10
Started off as a half decent action movie till the truly horrible third act.
Why would the government not help kill them under the ice, they were quick enough to believe 'the future people'? Just so you can have your small group of outcasts save the world? Why go through more than half of the movie to help 'the future people' and then barely use what you fought for, the toxin? Terrible writing.
In terms of Pixar’s output to date this ranks as one of their lesser efforts. Of course, as they have never made a bad movie, this isn’t a negative. The animation is great, the story is fun, and there is a sprinkling of Pixar humour. For me, however, it was a little too simplistic, and it won’t last long in my memory.
When will Alicia Vikander pay for my hotel room as we travel across the country and pretending to be someone else as we try to ease our pain?
Brilliant movie - just brilliant!
And now I add this sentence, because it needs the be at least 5 words to be sent - way to ruin a comment...
I so love a happy ending. That was a happy ending, right?
Who would have though there's a world outside the US/UK?
Certainly not me during this mockumentary
Just entertaining enough, mostly worth it for Lisa Kudrow, Samuel L. Jackson and Hugh Grant. It starts way stronger than it ends
Though it's curious to see that when they get to May and the BLM they switch to documentary and patch it up with a couple of bad, evident jokes about a racist Karen, a black Boris Johnson and such, all traces of subtlety and acid humor gone for practically the rest of the film.
I mean it's December, we've already seen plenty of pieces about it months ago, and much better ones. It wasn't funny nor informative.
And I wasn't eager to hear all about the election for 25 minutes straight either just a mere month later.
Brilliant movie. I just don't give a '10' to this one because Joy was actually a bitch to Sadness on the beginning
Probably never seen that many proposals, marriages and pregnancies in one film, but I loved it!
Sorry.... total and utter crap.
It was ok, pretty entertaining. It was definitely no Hangover (the level of this genre has been defined) and Planes, Trains & Automobiles is of course far superior. It has it's dark moments (spitting on a dog and punching a kid - WTF?) - but it's worth a watch.
