The best part of the episode is undoubtedly Katara's opening description, in which she outlines the war and her and her brothers role in it. It's interesting that just when Katara had reached her boiling point with life in the South Pole, she found the Avatar as a direct affect. As the Guru says to Aang about Katara "your love for the airbenders has not left this world, it is still inside of your heart" so Katara's love for her mother was reborn in her hope that the avatar would return.
I cant wait for the comic coming out this June. I need Korsami.
Good ending.I like how the vines automatically take over the destruction.
"I need to understand what suffering was, so I could become more compassionate to others; even peopl like Kuvira."
So much like Star Wars, from the trumpets in the fight scene, to the way Kuv's troops look, and the famaliar infiltration of a giant mechanical entity.
Zaheer knows that accessing the spiritual world is a journey within.
Korra must willigly give herself over to save the air nation. Resembles Christ going to the cross.
First time we explicitly watch a murder in this series.
Iman killed a guy but we didn't see him die, he just got crushed by a bunch of wood. I'm not counting Tarlaq putting himself and his brother out of their misery because it was an explosion. That suffocation was brutal.
Zaheer can out of body project more effectively than anyone ever on this show.
"You are the son of Avatar Aang, I am the hope of future generations of airbenders" Being the new airbeder weighs heavy on him, but he is able to make it out of the fog of lost souls by confrontig himself, and acceting that he alone cannot move the wold toward a brighter future. Tenzin is not Avatar Aaangs legacy in a vaccum.
"Beggining of the New World Order" he wants to rule the whole world and become a "Dark Avatar" What kind of a fool would believe that he would be in control while Vato possessed him. Oh yeah, and Bumi is boss.
Iman and Tarlock should have just had their own movie... because it feels like their story overshadows the whole rest of the season and all the petty little drama of team avatar. Great story in and of itself, terrible timing for the series with so much already going on.
For the first episodes, they seem intent on impressing upon us how much of an egostist Korra is. When Mako and Korra investigate a missing Bolin, Mako says "We better be catious" but Korra kicks the door down without even checking if she could push it open first. I mean, I know you are the Avatar but at a certaib point you are going to meet a situation where strength and aggression need to give away to creativity, focus and meditation. Overall this story moves too fast; I dont like that we have already met the main bad guy of the season in episode 3, and because of that- Iman is not as memorable or scary as he would have been if he had remained a face on a poster and a voice over the radio until the climax of his arc.Firelord Ozi was much more effective because the details about him were slowly added up, first his voice in the throne room, the statues and pictures, and then we saw him in person. With Iman, you see the full capacity of his power in episode 3. Even if this event is essential to the development of humility into Korra's character arc, I feel like this story is rushing to get to season 3 and 4 instead of enjoying the ride.
The LION TURTLE!! The turtle is a symbol of wisdom and longevity. The lion of pride and strength. The Lion turtle in this show is eerily human, especially the hands.
The Play within the Play.
This entire season parallels the first in many ways. This episode is like episode 12 of season one because it is split between Aang and Zuko's perspective. This episode is even more interesting though, because they are both being involved directly to the same story by the perspective of the character they have a connection with(Sozin or Roku) Avatar Roku's Spirit seems to has his hands all over this episode- after all who knows how Iroh knows all of this, and furthermore how did he find the royal artifact- and furthermore have it in his jail cell? There is definately spirit activity helping him.
My guess is that he meditated into the spirit world and worked with Roku's spirit to bring Aang and Zuko together and restore balance. Roku did his part by showing Aang the story of the Avatar and the Firelord and helping him interpret the story in such a way that he said, "everyone, even the firelord and the fire nation need to be treated like they are worth giving a chance." which will be the principal that will lead Aang to accept Zuko and show mercy to the Firelord.
Earthbending is an unromantic element.
Iroh helps Zuko open his mind to the possibilities of bending, and the possibilities of not being closed off to the rest of the world by showing him a firebending techique he developed from waterbending forms.
Its nice to see the president forced to cooperate.
She be runnin from her Avatar destiny.
I really like Kuvira the Conqueror, and her evil theme music!
The spirit lands on the map because Zhiboahs Grove is in the Spirit World!
Now I see a side of Lin we don't like.
"Dont bend the elements, but energy within yourself", is the most easily applicable sentence in this story, and it has been said several times. The tree of time's roots connect spiritual world to the physical, just like the Avatar is the bridge.
Whether or not Vato wins ad there is a new dark Avatar, this is a new age because all the past avatars are destroyed!
Bolin is boss. Yeah, yeah.
Iroh knows all. Create your own reality at 15.40
Lame. They broke up way to fast for anybody to care.
Another banished prince. We all knew what Unalaq wanted to take over the world... Avatar Wan 21.15
Great transitions from one Avatar's face to another when Korra finally is forced to go within.
This should have been Iman's introduction.
