I really wish this movie was UNWRITTEN.
The setup is perfect: a lonely female scientist who has had questionable luck in the dating world is asked to try out a humanoid for three weeks. That humanoid is supposedly made just for her, although the film never really gets into what the means (the few times it is addressed the woman seemed surprised that an aspect of the bot was specific to her preference).
I think this movie is a fine entry into the "what is a relationship" genre. While my favorite movie in this area will always be Her I think this movie isn't too far behind. The struggle to show the areas where the humanoid filled and did not fill holes in the woman's life was extremely interesting. I think where they ultimately left the movie was perfect.

Americans saying that "original" was better than this one. Little do they know that "Alive" wasn't the first film about this accident. Actually, a mexican movie released in 1976 was the first one ever made and it wasn't bad at all.
Yes, this version is slow paced and with less action than previous movies, specially the american one, but technically and emotionally is way above the first two movies. J. A. Bayona goes deeper in the emotional part of each character, this time, using the real names of the survivors, besides, it was filmed in part in the same spot where the accident took place. Hey, we even have cameos of some of the survivors.
Sorry, but people saying this "remake" is bad, is just lazy people that don't like to read subtitles. This movie will be nominated for an Oscar, I can tell you that.
I did not expect to like this one as much as I did! While I would say that the bucket for vampire movies is getting too crowded, I will certainly not fault an entertaining one for this!
The characters are rather quirky and it's shot mockumentary style (like The Office) which might be off-putting for some but you have at least give them credit for going through a variety of jokes here! Oh, and let's not forget Stu! Everyone loves Stu!
i think of it like this: if youre going to eat a sandwich, you would just enjoy it more if you knew no one had fucked it.
A decent crime story with a detective thread that keeps secrets to itself until the very end.
Quite good idea but awful execution.
Another prime example of how a cleverly edited trailer with a big name attached can mislead you.
Probably the longest 104 minutes of my life.
A cliche romcom ,but i still enjoyed it..
I think it's enjoyable and fun to watch if you don't overanalyze it. Predictable ending, but overall it's funny. I bet there will be people who will be offended by the seemingly forced perspective to have a baby because there are people who won't want one. What's mind boggling for me is, the milk! It's the freakin fountain of youth! And not one person even thought of monetizing that shit. haha!
It's like they killed the book, buried it in jump scares, and this is what came back. Sometimes read is better.
I really struggled giving this an honest opinion. I think this focused more on special effects rather than the horror aspect. I loved the original It from 1990. And I also love the novel very much but this doesn't really do it for me. It was a good movie yes but too much computer special effects rather than just makeup spx. Anothing thing that annoyed me was Pennywise's death. It looked cheaply made. It could've been made sooo much better, but I understand how hard that would've been with their vision. One last thing that was awesome was Stephen King's cameo in the shop. It made me feel very comfortable to see him. Oh and let me add that the actors are perfect, they really succeeded with finding good actors that has a similar look as the children.
I loved the novel this film is based on - possibly my favourite of all King's works - and this closing chapter does his story justice. It's not perfect - it does tend to go from one setpiece to the next at too rapid a level - though as some of these setpieces come close to brilliance, this doesn't detract too much from the film. A genuine horror blockbuster with horror, comedy, and heart, this film will make you jump one second, laugh the next, and perhaps even shed a tear a moment later. An accomplished film, and it's just a pity that there is no Part 3 to look forward to. Will miss you losers!
They realllyyyy stepped it up with this one. In comparison to the original from 1990, this was much much better in my opinion. It was thrilling, some good jump scares but also funny. Characters like Richie and Eddie were much more developed this time. They had an obvious amount of budget to make everything come to live and cast excellent people.
One of the things that stood out for me was how well cast the adult versions were and how all the actors did an amazing job to stay close to the younger versions.
They explored more of the characters than the original which made deaths like Stan's and Eddie more emotional.
I'm glad that I saw it in a cinema, because it really is one of those movies you just need to see on a big screen so that Pennywise really feels awfully close. Bill Skarsgard nailed it, once again.
Brilliant casting, great writing and fantastic overall.
Wonderful. A fucking masterpiece. Bill Hader deserves a fucking Oscar.
if you really loved the 1 and the second part of this movie don't watch this one cause it's bullshit believe me.
I was just out of high school when this came out, pretty sure I saw this in the theater. It was funny seeing the kids go through some of the same logic I did seeing it the first time: "wait... isn't he her brother?" (yes, but not by blood... so still kinda problematic). Also, laughing about sagging and how HS boys still do it. Unfortunately this movie failed an important "does this hold up" test my kids have with older movies (god, this is an "older" movie): are the main love interests actually cute given style/taste changes... Paul Rudd: yup, but he's the brother (ew!). Christian and Elton? NO. Young Turk? YEAH! but not a love interest in the movie... SMH
Whew, Samuel sure knows how to ace the art of awkward tension. Talk about feeling uncomfortable 90% of the film. I wish I could just have an entire movie just of Chris and Lisa's lives together - they were too cute.
Patrick Wilson can fuck me sideways.
So much more than a love story in space (lazy critics), this is a visually beautiful space epic. Its Gravity meets Titanic meets Silent Running. Recommended.
I don't know how i feel about this movie... Tbh Alex was a total jerk at some moments.
I wished the story would have been about him discovering his bisexuality instead. Some parts seems to hint at that but then no? I think there's some inconsistance in the story-line about that
I totally wonder if this was written by someone straight because that whole thing about "why don't just come out? my cousin of 16 has come out" and other lines from that type are just... so straight. They really seems to think lgbt people not coming out is a matter of will...
But generally it's a cute movie as long as you can handle the awkwardness of the main character
Also the guy playing Elliot plays in The Gay and Wondrous life of Caleb Gallo, a queer serie on youtube that i totally recommend!
Charming movie but felt the ending was a little rushed. Would of loved to have seen the characters a little more developed and more of Elliot. But it's still a fun little movie that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I cannot unsee that Madeline resembles Gal Gadot a LOT in this movie, with that hairstyles.
Needed more scenes between Alex and Elliot. Elliot was so charming!
Glen Powell and the endlessly charming Zoey Deutch have great chemistry in a cute, funny but in the end fairly by-the-numbers romcom. Set it Up doesn't do anything particularly new or innovative, but it didn't need to.
It mainly works, it's comfortable, and it's a Netflix watch that you won't regret.
For a Romance/Comedy, it was unusually good!
Predictable as hell, but yet, I love it despite that.
The personal assistant characters are solid and work well together. The bosses are horrible caricatures, but they even have their moments.
Some really funny bits are worked in that don't feel like they take away from the story of the main characters.
It's funny to see bad reviews for this movie, and a lot of criticism towards JJ, but it's clear that all the choices made in this movie was to correct the choices made in The Last Jedi, the movie that was hated by all the fans till yesterday, but now people are praising.
The Rise of Skywalker is a great movie, specially for fans, it's a great way to end this saga, filled with fan service. I don't think I can say more than that without spoiling the experience for everyone.
All the critcs you see here, or on twitter, are coming from people who thinks star wars, a space opera, should be a deep and complex movie with fanfics about romances.
I enjoyed the tragic, heartbreaking fairytale of Ben Solo.
I would have preferred to see the film follow the more interesting thread The Last Jedi was sewing, rather than throwing in all this crash bang flashy flashy Emperor stuff. But I did have fun with all this crash bang flashy flashy Emperor stuff.
EDIT: After much more thought, I'm incredibly disappointed by many aspects of this film, and it's easy to see a million missed opportunities for the conclusion of the trilogy and the saga. But I see some people love this movie, and that inspires me to view it in a charitable light. There should be more kindness and desire for understanding in film discussion.
