An utterly delightful and absurd romp through "an occasionally true" story of Catherine The Great's rise to power. A powerhouse cast, great visual design and acerbic comedic writing all pull together for an entertaining ride that's short enough to not be tiresome.
As a fan of D&D this episode was heaps of fun to watch.
In which Meg Ryan is a stalker, emotionally cheating on her fiancee. Tom Hanks is a charming widower.
This movie has beautiful scenery. It takes all the really dumb, emo bits from Romeo & Juliet and makes a two hour teen movie about poor life decisions about them. I will concede that this film is a winner for all fans of shirtless dudes with rippling abs though.
I knew this was going to be a cheesy musical just from the casting. The music is fun and it is a silly enjoyable movie as long as you don't have high expectations and are just looking for dumb entertainment.
Holds up extraordinarily well for a 20 year old flick. The aesthetic is the ultimate 90s grunge teen movie but it manages to exploit tropes of the genre. Fairuza Balk is a show stealer.
The first three seasons were fresh, entertaining, and timely. Later seasons are lackluster or trying too hard.
Although this was a filler episode it was fun to see a hellish Lucifer and Maze again. The writers seem to have lost what made this show special recently and it was refreshing to revisit the tone of the pilot episode.
Bumped up the rating a notch for nostalgia but hoo boy the special effects did not age as well as I remembered. The acting is also less than you'd expect from such a cast, largely due to the silly accents. However it is a fun, over-the-top supernatural action/ comedy with some beautiful scenes.
The Fan Service Episode. Lost it when they played Lucifer by SHINee.
The paranormal love triangle is in full swing now. A cash register goes cha-ching for every scene where Jacob is contractually obliged to be shirtless. Every movie Edward becomes more controlling of Bella, which is frustrating. Victoria is played by a different actress, who is less likeable, despite Bryce Dallas Howards' acting prowress. Bella's makeup is better in this movie, she looks less dead though.
The new version of the intro song sucks.
A fairly formulaic chick flick saved by Isla Fisher's slightly whacky sense of comedy.
Let's just brush off the sexual assault of a bloke, a bit too casually, 2006
Best drag race maxi challenge we've had in a while.
A lot of tv shows reach a point where it's the perfect point to say goodbye instead of continuing the series. This is high point for glee and it's a perfect farewell for the show we've loved.
Forget what you know about the Japanese thriller manga series, once you do that this movie gets a lot better. Now turn the gore and profanity up a few notches and remember this was made for American audiences and at times plot points are spelled out for you. The theme of rules and in/justice feature throughout. It does irk me that this is not as clever a game of wits between L and Light as the original material. Visually it's good and the soundtrack is probably the best part of the movie. Recommended for fans of Twilight.
Damon has been stuck reading 50 shades of Grey for the last two episodes, hillarious.
I loathed this movie for so many years, I was never a fan of Doctor Seuss so I never understood the appeal, the designs, costumes and prosthetics were outrageous and monstrous. Now I'm an adult I can see this movie was not written for children, it is an adult tale (don't believe me, there is an orgy reference at 25:35). The Grinch doesn't hate Christmas, he hates people. I now realise this monstrosity is intentional, the Grinch isn't the monster the Who's are.
If the show has to end at least it does it with a bang that reminds us what was so good in the pilot.
Fantastic drama and superb acting. Was surprised by the number of familiar faces. Portman's Boleyn is charismatic and intensely unlikeable, her finale was amongst the best acting I've seen from her. Don't look for accurate historical details in this though, it's pure fluff.
The Good: Lots to look at. Beautiful people, beautiful clothes, beautiful scenery. The design in general. All these actors are good actors shame they didn't have much to work with.
The Bad: This was a pretty mediocre action film. Cinematography wasn't the best. Very superficial plot/ dialogue/ everything.
The Ugly: How much CGI do you think we can fit in a single scene?
It was alright, nothing spectacular. I did find the heavy handed use of CGI a bit much. The butchering of ancient mythology I overlooked by convincing myself this was more sci-fi than fantasy.
Absolutely representative of everything wrong with modern hollywood. I love it. It is a bad movie, the cgi looks like puppets in places the plot is thinly strung together video game cutscenes and all the major beats were included in the trailer. I'll watch it again, recommend keeping your expectations low and having a good time.
That was peculiar, fun, but peculiar.
Massive nostalgic attachment to this film which really is quite cheesy. Surprisingly, the special effects have held up well for a 25 year old movie and a quality villain makes up for the rather superficial and at times, nonsensical, plot.
The chef is a total larrikin who seems to have become a success through hard work and sheer force of personality.
Krestiva is such a scumbag, this is great television.
Really uninvested in new characters. Glad to see Unique become a regular. Kate Hudson's and Whoopi's cameos are the highlights. The formula where they kept following old characters outside of glee while simultaneously trying to replace the archetypes at McKinley is uncomfortable.
It's wonderful to see how well this movie has held up, the cast is charming and the jokes are still funny.
Fantastic episode, explores so many of the subtleties of identity and role within the palace.
