Soooo lame. Several poor script choices make this movie predictable, forgettable, and even bad. There is no chemistry between them. The plot is so idiotic. And to think it was based on a book is funny, like, you needed a book to create this? I mean, any literature undergrad could have made this and better, maybe.
Sae Bom & Yi Hyun's fight for Happiness and Humanity when stupidity is scarier than the vicious virus.
Zombie dramas are not uncommon but this ain't your run of the mill Zombie drama ; it is a mere reflection of covid pandemic/epidemic.
It is a zombie themed drama that pour slice of life scenarios into it. It has a great opening that is linked to our current pandemic situation. This drama started by how people overcome and get used to the virus and continued on their daily life.
The basic concept of Happiness (해피니스)is apocalypse and we are having more of it these days, no? But what makes this drama stand out is a different approach of showcasing human behaviour during crisis, more than the apocalyptic situation. Yes, that's how you have to perceive and watch the entire thing keeping that in your mind. Otherwise you gonna hate this drama if you have come here to see thrilling monster apocalyptic consequences, utter dystopia and plenty of gore elements or people smashing zombie brains left and right.
Infact the only headshot we love will be of the serial killer - andrew
Yoon Sae Bom (Han Hyo Joo), an SOU cop is highly decisive, righteous and straightforward as a person. She never tolerates injustice and always ready to counter any challenging situation. Jung Yi Hyun (Park Hyung Sik) is violent crime detective who never fails to get to the root of any incident and is good at dealing with any kind of unforseen event. Han Tae Seok (Jo Woo Jin) an ex-military agent has the topmost hand as a pharmaceutical company executive who is aware of the origins of the virus and constantly strive to defeat the virus.
We have got many actors in the drama who are more or less familiar and are good at acting. My favorites are the the little girl , shopping mart teller , Lieutenant Lee Ji Soo and Na brother-sister; rest of them go east shit; who started as selfish brother and sister but they mad me laugh without even trying to the way he hid his sister behind when infected comes and the way he resisted to bite ; in the end becoming pivotal to the cure ; which proves the point :
Humanity is the biggest cure for any disease ...
resist not to harm the people even after infected takes a lot of will power and which is what produced antibodies as the virus couldn't incubate enough to infect the brain.
The entire piece is thrilling and awes you with its suspense at several points but it might not feel compelling which is okay because it's more important that you understand the underlying messages which the show wanted to convey. Overall, Happiness is a good drama which experimentally shows the social science P.O.V of human behavior and the underlying psychology. Please keep in mind that it's 10% apocalypse and 90% about demeanor of so called social animals, namely human beings. It's definitely worth the one time watch and I would surely recommend to give this a go, at least for Park Hyung Sik ; many said he widened after military service but his action and fights were very much improved compared to Strong Bong-soon.
Good movie, i just don’t understand that they all just enter that room. I would have called the police and burned the place :joy:
Amazing,Unpredictable! Watching it was a roller coaster of emotions, sometimes the movie is a dark comedy , after that a romantic comedy, the next minute a revenge thriller, It's tonal shifts made me laught, cry, angry, fearful, happy and eventually made me think a lot about the ending , i think it's going to be devisive between people. But for me it worked and when i play the movie in my head and what this character has been dealing with in her life i think it fits perfectly.I felt satisfied
The subject matter we're dealing with here is very challenging to adress in a movie and Emerald Fennell(writer and first time director) is not afraid of exposing all the parties involved when something like that happen and how everyone involved could deal with it , she knocked it out of the park.
Carey Mulligan gives what i think migt be the best performance of her career , i really hope she could snag an Oscar nomination
She killed it as Cassandra this young woman with a tragic past who's on a journey of her own trying avenge what happened to her , perfectly casted here and i wouldn't imagine someone else taking that role.
You don't really know how to feel about her like sometimes she's likable and funny , the next minute she goes dark and very serious and frightening , those shift personnalities were well executed! The cast was great too , everyone nailed their part really !
The movie does not answer eveything that happened , there a times you wonder what happened to that guy and what happened to that woman because they don't show you so you make your own image of the events or you trust Cassandra's word's which i very much liked, it leaves you making you own assumption for some parts.
Overall, the movie is well directed , the writing is so strong here and a screenplay oscar nomination is very plausible and it's just very a beautiful movie to watch , the colours the cinematography, the sets, it's like you're in a candy world , the soundtarck is great and the use of music was on point .
This movie is ambitious and important and i don't think it will be forgotten by people , it just needs time to grow .
Looks promising at the start but then it turned into somethin that feels more like the "virus" plot is being forced on to us. The sex scenes felt very unnecessary or something they had to add on to one up other plague/zombie movies so that they would be different. Other than that, the plot is very predictable, kinda knew what was gonna happen to the male and female lead. The gore was overdone for me, it was alright at first until the train part where the fat dude was stabbed and blood spewed out from him like a fountain, i know that guy's big sized but i don't think blood's gonna spew out like that even if he was stabbed at the right spot. Overall, the show wasn't too great to me but it wasn't that bad either.
3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Nope’:
I kept waiting, and waiting, for this film to get good. For the moment when things kick into high gear and it earns that price of admission. For me, it never got there. It always teetered on the edge of something fun and edge-of-your-seat… but it remained uneventful despite its seemingly-momentous scenes.
The pacing was all sorts of wonky. It felt like there were a lot of disconnects here, a lot of questions. Scenes that went on too long. Unrealistic character reactions and decisions. My scalp is sore from all the head scratching. I just wish this were a more structured story with all the ideas it contained.
Great cast, but the character of OJ was incredibly bland and emotionally flat. A more compelling lead character may have risen this film above all its flaws.
Bonus Thought: What was the significance of the mysterious balancing shoe?
What's with the bad votes it didn't even come out yet-
Edit: Fair enough.
Secrets of Dumbledore improves on its weaker predessesor with a more nuanced Grindlewald performance from Mads Mikklesen, as well as a more focused narrative. There are some interesting set pieces here, as well as some surprisingly funny moments and some creative uses of magic that will entertain fans of the series. Unfortunately, it still suffers the faults of a directionless series that should never have extended beyond a single movie. Characters are left woefully undeveloped and plot developments from previous movies are brushed aside, although perhaps for the better. While it is a passable movie, it is unfortunately much too small a step in the right direction for a doomed series.
Definitely worth the wait.
The fight scenes, the story. Full of funny moments and emotional ones. All of it chef's kiss. Amazing!!
Quite creepy but not a great movie. Quite annoying with Amber Heard's character which was pointless and always with her bikini or underwear most of the time.
Not a high budget film, but it’s got a great and imaginative storyline.
Although we’ve seen things similar to this, it took a cool different approach.
Dubbed on Netflix and well done too.
Really enjoyed it.
this movie was worse than the first one
Chaotic bisexual "twins" from different universes is exactly the kind of time shenanigans I never knew I needed in my life.
What a mess of an episode. It was all over the place.
First half was gold, second half I'm not gonna lie has manny fillers and the plot wasn't as smooth as a tought it will be, I found myself laughing with Hyesun's acting but the rest of characters were kind of a meh, Byeong In was underrated and became relevant for the plot only to wrap up things wich was kinda off.
Still a good watch, by any means I could rate this with less than 8, technically was flawless, from sound to setting was the best of the best.
Imagine if Jang Bong Hwan wouldn't be on a vegetative state we could have a second season with the queen on his body in an actual time.
I'm completely hypnotized by and in love with this show.
In addition to being visually pleasing, with every detail, from costumes to scenery, carefully taken into consideration, it's also shaking us up on the inside. Its "between the lines" messages, and wonderful acting from the entire cast that delivers so many emotions in their facial expressions alone, are all sublime.
I find myself looking forward to weekends and waiting in anticipation for what is to come. Great job everyone, and much love. <3
What an amazing series and regarding the ending ...
Would I have preferred a happy ending with rainbows and a big bow? Probably, because I am sucker for happy endings. But I am not dissatisfied with the ending we got, because I felt it was earned and what the characters needed.
Sunny and Grim Reaper needed a clean slate, to fall in love and live happily together. All her life she was always waiting and her leaving because she couldn’t forgive him would have been pointless. Love is sometimes simply not enough. And he needed to forgive himself and just love her. Not remembering was a blessing.
Eun Tak time on earth was limited, so choosing to sacrifice herself in a heartbeat and overcome her sorrow in another life, to just be him with all her memovies intact, felt right to me. Kim Shin loosing her was heartbreaking. But this time he wasn’t waiting for his bride to end his life, he was waiting for her to live his life. I believe, that in the end he would be able to leave this life behind together with her. Be it at the end of her second life or fourth.
Hee Kyung stealing the show with only three scenes!
Buck definitely needed that closure and in some way Abby did too. That train wreck though was pretty gruesome, but at least none of the main characters died or anything.
I wonder what May talked with Maddie in the party, it seemed very important and Athena must have no idea. Maybe May is asking Maddie to talk to Athena about the assault and how to handle it as Maddie has gone through with something similar in the past.
So happy for soon to be parents, Maddie and Chimney!!
Can't wait for season 4, although this ending had some loose ends it definitely seemed like a series finale than a season finale.
Oh well, all is well that ends well.
Apparently, not knowing that a particular condition is more likely for some races than for others is racist.
I appreciate that the show wants to dramatize racial issues and how they come up in medicine. Racial biases and unconscious bias in particular are very serious issues each one of us needs to grapple with.
But this was forced, and logically, beyond even a stretch. It's so ridiculous that I think it undermines the goal: the people who most urgently need to be reached, as well as those on the fence and those still forming their views, will throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Not knowing things is a part of life. There is no such thing as omniscience. If, instead of being met with kindness and compassion, someone is condemned as a racist, I can easily imagine an internal monologue along the lines of Why bother? What's the point? There's no winning., and that is definitely not what we (or at least the show's writers) want.
Doctors miss things all the time. It's understandable. They're not omniscient. They're not infallible. If the reason a doctor missed something were based on racism or unconscious bias, that would be one thing. But merely not knowing a particular medical fact about how a particular medical condition is more or less likely an explanation for a particular symptom for a particular racial group? Calling that racism or attributing it to racism undermines the cause of fighting against actual racism.
Didn't grab me at all. The story was meh, the magical kingdom did not feel like a true Ghibli paradise, the overall visual styling was not that appealing to me. I think this is my least favorite Ghibli of all, sorry. But maybe that's because this movie seems more directed at a younger audience.
This was such a heart-wrenching story for the amount of time that it was on. I did not see the ending coming and it left me in tears. This short film doesn't have any dialogue but is instead told through the imagery and the music that accompanies it. This is extremely well put together.
This movie was painfully boring, and didn't contain a single likeable character. It was like watching a whiney CW teen drama. What wasn't boring, was borderline nonsensical.
Don't waste your time with this one, especially if you are a fan of the previous x-men movies.
I mean... Sort of wasted my time here but a bitch’s gotta watch at least some 2020 releases.. no, seriously, the performances are pretty good, but that’s about it. boring story with nothing but absolute misery.
Wow, that was really horrible! The title should have been "300: More 3D Blood... Lots more." Even glancing blows across plate armor produced gigantic torrents of blurry red goo, and not a single drop fell on the attacker. They would have been covered in gore from head to toe. Really silly and distracting.
Mulan mixes the original story with Kung-Fu fantasy and it works. Definitely beats Disney just making another live action scene for scene musical remake.
Which doesn’t leave you thinking you just watched the same exact movie again. Like the Lion King.
My favorite anime ever. I've watched it three times and it never disappoints
Side plots of characters I'm so not interested in...Also Teddy is bi? I just don't see it.
Of course he was right. Of course.
If you didn't see that coming from 10 miles away, you're not paying close enough attention. It was very clear from the very beginning the "crazy" guy was actually gonna turn out to be right about the human trafficking thing. So, so predictable. And predictable is boring. You need to try harder, writers.
After treating Karev like crap, now it’s the turn of DeLuca who’s getting completely destroyed. I can’t believe that Schmitt became the only somewhat interesting character in this show - despite the fact that all his “gay” storylines are stereotypical.
Can Grey’s Anatomy hires writers who do not despise male characters?
