Why is everybody complaining? It’s an awesome show. If you want to see some aliens, watch the countless shows about alien invasions - there are many.
But this one…is different. And that’s good. It’s about the people, not about the aliens.
I admit, it's more the anticipation of what this will become (in Dave we trust) as the sheer joy about what it is now. All the pieces are there and they are slowly moving into place.
Once again we learn that an Empire does not dissapear over night, that it's remnants are still working to bring it back. Which makes total sense. I know there will be discussions about and question like "how can this be, why haven't we seen that or heard that before" These shows can delve into details no movie has time to explore. It's more like reading a book where you have to go through a lot of build-up until you reach the conclusion and I like that. Sure, there is a lot of formulaic stuff (add in another lightsaber fight) but the characters all get there time.
I'm really beginning to like Baylan who shows signs of being more then just Morgans evil henchman. His regrets about the necessity to kil Ahsoka had me raise an eyebrow. I like it when those kind of characters get more depth.
Chucky's last death in this ep, including his final words, was an all timer Chucky death.
It wasn't that dark. This was one of the best Home Invasion scenes. Great actors/actresses/emotion.
Great episode. I love that Cavill and Layton are both highly intelligent people in their own domains and that comes with a level of mutual understanding and communication. He is a people reader through and through. That phonecall to 'Wilford' was the moment he realised the ruse and at the same time she clocked his realisation. Between that and their silent communication about LJ really highlighted the quality in this show.
And finally, despite the somewhat foreshadowing start, neither of the wlw characters died! That's gotta be a rare occurrence.
Well this is an interesting turn of events. I didn't see the show shifting this way.... but I should have since the show is Star Trek: Discovery. Now we finally meet the ship Discovery. And it's not what I had expected. First, Jason Isaacs is phenomenal. Continually shifting between good guy and potential villain. Keeping both the viewer and Michael on their feet, unsure of who he is.
This episode helps keep the mystery of the USS Discovery by keeping both Michael and the viewer in the dark about what is the Discovery's true intention, what is it's purpose in the grandscheme of the war against the Klingons, and how it fits into Star Fleet.
"Context is for Kings"
The way I recoiled when Patrick dropped the F bomb. Been a while since I've heard it used as a slur in earnest. Important interaction though and thankfully I think it was just a misstep.
