Let me remind you that Dumas was paid for the number of characters. The novel was not just a fascinating reading about the sword and honor, published in the newspaper. The author added details about politics and customs, clothes, life. Having created, what is already there, a masterpiece. Where everything is described in detail, the motivations of heroes, the intrigues of enemies, nobility and fencing fights, friendship and love. The film is like an adaptation for children, the new plot is absurdly remade and gallops, from a spectacular fight with the guards to an attempted coup and a sniper (!) With a musket, only a couple of dozen phrases are said. Why so? Perhaps I should praise the costumes and interiors. Not enough for an interesting spectacle.
Well, another complete bastardization of the commonly accepted Arthurian legends. Characters are mixed up, relationships are mixed up, roles are mixed up...
The production is done reasonably well but I cannot stomach the bastardized story line... At least not after watching S1E1... I'll not be watching more episodes especially if MGM requires me to pay above and beyond basic subscription.
This show's dialog is cheesy as f**k, not to mention so exposition heavy, and the protagonists' acting is wildly inconsistent too. I'm still gonna watch though.
I heavily disliked the whole main plot... that liquid thing, the citadel itself, it's all terrible.
The action is pretty good and the fighting scenes are well-choreographed at least.
This is going to flop so hard. Def should have just made a modern day version of this.
Looks like I was wrong about this one,by episode four it has become a joke of a show..terrible.
gonna watch this just to spite the angry white man in the comments who's upset about black people and gay shit being on tv
[Prime Video] The most interesting about this series is the reflection on the concept of identity without establishing limits, with a broad perspective that avoids identifying its characters in sexual categories, for whom their feelings are not delimited. It's a pansexual show that is comfortable in ambiguity, which is interesting in an Italy that is once again embracing the heteropatriarchy of the far-right party.
A very enjoyable film! The plot is simple and straightforward with no real twists but the great cast manage to elevate the movie from mediocre to good.
It delivers on the comedic part a lot better than most comedies lately.
It’s definitely worth the watch at the cinema and I actually can’t wait to see it again!
I've never played a halo game, so for me this is like watching a Sci-Fi original but with better vfx. The plot is interesting enough to keep me watching, but idk if that is because of the show or if I should actually be playing the game.
Honestly, UK Drama is so well done! It seems there is an increasing appetite for political Drama (not too long ago I watched and reviewed BORGEN, another excellent drama about the a moderate party leader suddenly thrust into the premiere government office of Denmark). Perhaps it is because people are so fatigued by politics having gone so wrong. This is an excellent imagining of the personal lives and challenges of those responsible for dealing with a national crisis. The script has depth. The story is compelling. The acting is exquisite. Even though Obama once said, the presidency was as exciting as men in suits talking in a room, these dramas are far from boring. I give this series an 8 (great) out of 10. [Political Drama]
Started off good with an interesting premise. After about 2 episodes got boring as shit. Ended horribly.
Basically it’s a season of backstory and introduction. Nothing really happens in the whole 8 episodes and it’s just a set up for the following
season.
I can imagine the following season might be finally good but this first season is terrible
Seems like they tried to be like 'The Boys' but ended up more like a CW show with their shit CGI and cliche stories/characters.
Netflix is really going for the quantity over quality method nowadays. And there is bound to be a few duds in there. Unfortunately this is one of them for me.
EDIT Just finished it. The flashback scenes are so much more interesting than the modern.
Billionaires...their lives are so much more complicated than those of the unwashed masses, aren’t they? At least that’s what show creators wants to convey to us, via shows like Succession & Yellowstone that show families at each others’ throats in order to get to the top of the money pile. Now, there’s a Mexican take on this genre, Monarca.
A family business where the siblings feud, collude and essentially fight for control of their Hotel and Tequila biz.
This is your typical "Dynasty" type series but done Telenovela style (not that I know what Telenovela style is since I'm not Spanish but have seen a bunch of stuff).
The show is essentially soap opera. There is so much drama in every episode.
I would say if you want Succession with over dramatization & soap opera taken to a whole new level, this is your show. If you are expecting a work of art that tells a great story, stay away.
A very beautiful movie and I think it’s wonderful really. All the angst and pain. Not as hitting as movies like Holding the Man but still significant.
This is a great throw-back to the old Karate films. It acknowledges the flaws of morality in the movie that Daniel is actually the instigator an gives us enough nostalgia to remember the awesomeness that was Karate Kid. I think the storyline mixes the old vs the new very well in many aspects and although you expect it to go wrong at every turn... it never does.
I can't wait for the second season. The only problem: who am I rooting for again?
Having a verdict on this show is tough. It's based on a comic book character, Alfred Pennyworth, yet doesn't feel anything like a show based on a character from a comic book. Each episode was enjoyable just enough, but I was never able to get invested. I don't know why. I'd probably watch a second season, though I'm not particularly looking forward to it. I hope it'll be in Gotham, maybe that'll make me more enthusiastic about watching it. The alternate universe setting in London wasn't that interesting or appealing.
Well-made but overly-labored documentary about the US response. It gives the facts and the time line without opining until the end.
The problems I have are that it is too long. It could have achieved the same within the hour. But also that the pandemic is raging harder than ever still in the US... Like Michael Moore during the 2007 economic crash, coming to the screen with a docu too early renders itself obsolete.
For anyone living on the moon this year, this is the best record of the pandemic from a US viewpoint.
7/10
Please don't let your little kids watch this! Despite what the rating says, it is NOT "All ages appropriate." The dinosaurs eat people, there is violence, VERY loud noises and explosions, and even though nothing is explicit, people DIE.
That being said, as an adult, I found this show really well done and very entertaining. Some of the main characters are a tad bit annoying at first, but they all come together in the end as a team. If you are a fan of Jurassic Park/Word, then I highly recommend it.
My 8 year old sister got scared the first few minutes into episode 1, this show isn't meant for little kids or those that don't do well with violent-ish scenes. The show also had a lot of very conveniently placed escapes for the camp-goers to get out of their tricky situations.
That being said, for me - as a 23 year old - this show was highly amusing. Me and my brother marathoned through this and will expect to to do the same when (and hopefully not if) the second season comes out. I wouldn't say season one was great, but it was pretty good.
Saw this last night at a screening and was an incredible film. Recommend NOT seeing 3D Imax if you are sensitive to 3D films - as the 3D is HEAVY. The acting was well done, the cinematography was incredible - definitely NOT for kids though even though half the theater was young kids (under 13). SUBTITLED!!!!! They do NOT speak English in this film and the language is 100% subtitled. I think having to read the subtitles and deal with the 3D element at the same time was what didn't work for me personally - but im highly sensitive to 3DNausea. I'd see this again NOT in 3D for sure though.
