Big old pile of "Meh." Another example of the throw everything against the wall to see what sticks storytelling. Except for a few pretty good moments, this was a pretty forgetable film.
That's certainly was a wild ride! It's going to take a while to unpack, but I have to give this a high recommendation. At times it was pretty surreal, almost like a David Lynch movie. Beautifully filmed and the performances were excellent.
Quirky, weird, absolutely no redeeming value whatsoever! I loved every minute.
I was very excited to see this movie because I'm a big fan of The Endless and Resolution. But I have to say that this film was a let down.
Just go watch it. It's on Amazon.
I went into it as cold as i could, only watching the trailer and was glad I did. Beautifully shot with a very clever plot and some of the most interesting characters, Border delivers many sublime moments that elevate it the cinematic heights, much like Let the Right One In (also based on a story by John Ajvide Lindqvist) was more than just a vampire movie.
Godzilla minus one is probably the best movie I’ve seen this year. Not only is it an action packed and exciting experience, but it also tells a deeply human story of rebuilding and redemption. And the action scenes are some of the most frightening kaiju scenes I’ve ever watched. Miss it on the big screen at your own peril!
I just came from watching this in the theater. I applauded at the end! I'm pretty sure it is the best movie I've seen so far this year.
I love horror movies but have to admit I was always confused by the love this particular movie has generated! While it is a feast for the eye and the soundtrack performed by Goblin is interesting, I never really felt like this was a very well-made film.
On the flip side, the remake is one of my favorite movies !
Probably the second best film I have seen this year.
Intuit-Canadian sci-fi film on Shudder. I have to say that I really like this movie! The story and script were very good - I was very invested in the characters and their story. You could definitely play this for your younger nieces and nephews at movie time during family gatherings this holiday season.
This isn't a perfect movie, but it is freaking scary!
A very lovely and touching tribute to one of the giants of the horror genre.
This was much better than I thought it would be! Luciana Paes is amazing!
Much better than I expected it to be!
What a perfect way to start a list of top movies of the year: A found footage film that takes place in real time via-Zoom meeting. So much could have gone wrong, but the film is perfect in its execution and nail-biting intensity.
After a slow start where Edwige is given nothing more to do then look scared, runaway, and be incredibly sexy, the movie abruptly veers into wild psychedelic visuals, some of the craziest music I've ever heard in a giallo and runs right into Satan!
After watching this movie, I needed to find a field of daisies to lie down in until my soul finished dry heaving.
I am certain this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I was left very dissatisfied with this movie! While visually stunning, even for an director known for a visually stunning and flamboyant style, I felt that the movie really lacked in several key elements, two of which were a plot that makes sense and relatable characters.
I understand that the Genesis of the movie was based on Argento's unsuccessful career as director for operas. The notion that he would like to tie up his harshest critics and force them to watch the slaughter of their loved ones does not make the film any more palatable to me.
Is like it is like a modern-day Hammer film. Christopher Lee even makes an appearance!
Stumbled slightly in the final act, but all in all it was a pretty good holiday horror.
Aside from a few rare creepy moments, this film seems more like bits and pieces of better movies tossed together.
This probably one of the best shows I have ever watched, right up there with shows like The Wire, Hannibal and Midnight Mass. It is bloody, violent and emotionally devastating yet incredibly warm and touching amidst all the chaos.
I watched this so you don't have to. I will never get those 94 minutes back, please don't follow my lead.
This was a fun vampire movie with a ton of callbacks to the source material.
An excellent example of a potent film with scathing, societal commentary that is definitely no fun to watch.
Certainly was a gory film!
It was a little bit incoherent but still a fun ride.
But for Bruce Campbell, there really was not much to keep me engaged. Caveat emptor.
Yes, it could have been a little shorter, but wow, what a twisted tale of obsession and jealousy. 10 out of 10
