Vastly underrated film. Like it or not, Ritchie imposes his style on the Arthurian legend in the same fashion Zack Snyder did in 300. A very entertaining spectacle (though not much more) the large vistas and lush cinematography should be appreciated on the big screen. Don't believe the shite, see this film and judge for yourself!
Very big surprise for me. I was pretty sure to give it an 8 score but after final battle I had to raise it to nine :) I really enjoyed this one and this is how legends should be told, oh sorry, filmed. And the soundtrack is amazing. I don't want to write more, you just have to watch it. And yes, I will definitely watch it again.
Came in with low expectations, and despite not being anything outstanding, the movie turned out as very enjoyable for me.
Yes, it is an imprecise take on the Arthurian Legend Since when Mordred is a mage and Arthur has an evil uncle? Is this Saruman meets Hamlet?. Yes, it is a superficial action movie. Yes, it is nothing special. However, I found that the pace of the movie was pretty spot-on, the characters were -although shallow- pretty charismatic, and the balance between fighting scenes, humor and dramatic tipping points very appropiate. The music (a mix of tribal noises, gaelic sounds and urban rhythms) was very solid and accompanied the images perfectly.
It is absolutely clear that this film will not set new standards, nor push the boundaries of a genre; but it will surely provide two hours of entertainment. Give it a shot if you're looking for an engaging fantasy action film -like Warcraft, for example-.
Really like this movie, have seen it a couple of times now. It´s good entertainment and I bet the conspiracy theorists were having a field day with this one.
On a side note: I wonder why most of the older movies on trakt have such low average ratings. They shouldn´t be compared to modern movies if that´s the case. Instead they should be view in the context of the time they we´re made.
I've read some bad comments about A View To A Kill but actually I think it very good and much better than Bond's previous film, Octopussy.
It's certain that Roger Moore was already old for the part but that didn't bothered me. He still can give what is required for being James Bond.
Christopher Walken was a great villian, very creepy and I always love to see the creepiness factor on a Bond villian. Grace Jones as May Day was also very creepy and together they formed a great evil duo.
Some scenes are memorable like the parachute scene on the Eiffel Tower or the fire truck scene on San Francisco. Overall, a very exciting adventure.
The theme song by Duran Duran is amazing, one of my favorite themes from all Bond films.
What an amazing movie...rest in peace bill paxton
The Queen was wonderful. Who would have thought a movie about the Royal Family could be so interesting? Helen Mirren's understated portrayal of the Queen managed to humanise her and paint her as a sympathetic figure, while Michael Sheen is likewise portrayed in a very flattering light. Tony Blair's wife and staff on the other hand, particularly the Director of Communications, definitely weren't, though in the former's case, that was apparently historically accurate. Great score by Desplat as always, and the whole movie was a handsomely-constructed delight. Getting rid of tradition and royal protocol for somebody who wasn't even HRH anymore was uncool though, and the press and public should feel bad (for something that happened 17 years ago).
Woah, splendid representation of what could happen if you sit down and actually talk to people and about yourself, show interest in a person. What a difference it could make and how people can be influenced. Glad I finally got around to seeing it.
What ruins this film is the end, why it is OK for <bender to stay the way he is, but Allison MUST change her looks and behaviour in order to "fit in"? I am no teenager and since I was a child in the 80's that issue has always bothered me.
The Breakfast Club was great, probably one of the best teen movies I've ever seen. Despite the stereotypes that all the characters are, they're still fun to watch and I particularly liked Allison. The only major problems I had with it were the really bland adults and the absolutely terrible ending.
The coupling up was completely unnecessary and Allison was way cooler pre-makeover; she basically changed everything that made her who she is because hurr gotta wear makeup and be pretty. I would have been perfectly happy if everybody had stayed the way they were and just been friendly with each other. Grrr...
