An incredibly wholesome Anime about life, loss, and being kind. A worthwhile show.
Edit: The third season started slow but wow was it incredible. It really made for a phenomenal story and a beautifully orchestrated closure.
Such an amazing adaptation that you can tell gives attention and care to the source material and animation. This was such a great watch considering I binged the entire thing, and it truly was a rollercoaster with the amount of twists and turns. Highly recommend this to anyone, even people who may not be fans of animation because this is really a classic.
Good show but it was WAY too short. This should have been 24 episodes at least in order to really flesh out the other characters and their backstories. Still, it's a great show.
The ping pong The animation anime team has done something truly amazing. They took a story that would be other wise boring and completely deviated from today's animation standard and made a complete masterpiece in 11 episodes. At first I was very skeptical of how good a sports anime would be with only 11 episodes, but they sure know how to tell a story.
That's the selling point of this anime; the storytelling and execution were incredible.
More than a anime about table tennis, this is a story about change, moving on, giving it your all, friendship, and the hardships that come with them.
Truly a beautiful piece of work.
Recommended to anyone who enjoys all kinds of anime, those people who can see a diamond before it is a diamond.
The first few episodes were simply boring, after that it became somewhat good. Plot was a bit complicated but it was interesting.
Best thing about the show was the character Holo, which made me watch it till the end. Some scenes were entirely for the fan service, but they were cute.
The ending of the show was the worst part though. They could have made another season as a lot of part of the story was still missing. But after all this time, it's probably not gonna happen. I heard a lot of praise for this show, so I was a bit disappointed after watching it.
Don't keep your hopes up, It was a decent anime. I gave it 8/10 only because of the wolf girl.
Steam through the first 11 or so episodes, cause simply put stuff gets real at that point, and somehow gets even more epic And it may be my favourite time travel story ever. Watch the damn show already
There are so many flaws in this series if you look at each episode closely. There are plot-holes, things that don't quite make sense, and things that just seem strange. But then you take a look back at the series and the way it weaves and turns like a crazy ball of string, you realize how masterfully done the story was. It felt like a crazy, disordered story because that's symbolic of the "weebly wobbly, timey wimey stuff". But despite all the timeline shenanigans, I followed the story without issue.
The first 10 episodes start very linearly and get you setup. Then I hope you were paying attention, because things start to get crazy.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one and I'd recommend it to pretty much everyone. This show has like 8 genres and it does a great job with each one of them.
The ultimate playing hard to get anime.
Gets better as it goes on. Live through the first two or three episodes, and it does pick up.
The source material for this must’ve been incredible. The plot, the allegory, the characters, and everything about the story was so perfectly orchestrated. Even when I could predict certain plot twists, it still felt as if the release was good. I started to truly empathize with the characters and the aftershock of each death or character development in the series felt truly important. Gesicht was incredible throughout, and I really loved Epsilon’s character too, although I would’ve loved more development for his character.
The animation and music here just tied the whole package together. There was a lot of slow burn and tension building throughout the series.
Even though this anime has those same old cliches, It was quite interesting. Character anime was good and some of the scenes were very cute. Action part was king of OKAY though.
Worst part was, they didn't adapted the entire Manga or Light Novel, have to read those to complete the story.
This was an adorable, funny and witty Anime that was so worth the watch. The dialogue and hilarity of the situations presented truly drives this Anime to rise to the top.
I was almost off-put from the series due to the overly cutesy animation at the start, but boy was I wrong with how the series would go. Made in Abyss starts off like it should be a rather family friendly spelunking adventure, but slowly descends into madness and nightmares. The Anime twisted the concepts of humanity and nature in a truly dark fashion, while remaining endlessly enticing to the viewer. Keep in mind as you descend into this Anime, your journey is made with no return.
A pretty chill, low-stress RPG anime. The graphics were nice and there were plenty of "cute anime girls doing cute things" to keep you entertained while there weren't any big battles. I personally found the second half of S1 to be a lot more fast paced with all the battling and events but "to each their own" with this one. And how maple manages to do so much damage without any MP or AD, that's totally beyond me, something something game design, I guess
I really liked this series. Considering that this was a random pick up and I had zero expectations, I was very pleasantly surprised. As a 4-koma series, comedy is the name of the game and what you get is a never ending stream of gags and silly situations and the vast majority worked for me. This is probably the funniest series I've seen since Daily Lives of High School Boys, another unexpectedly great and amusing series.
If you want a fun series with likeable characters that is relentlessly funny and makes some playful jabs at the Shoujo genre, I'd definitely recommend this one.
The Mandalorian is the most Star Wars thing to be released since Rogue One. The Tone is perfect. The world building is spot on. Mando fits perfectly into the world of Star Wars. Taking place on rim worlds with shambles of the Empire around. This is what I've wanted from the new movies.
What is amazing is in the first three episodes there might be 15 minutes of dialog total. Pedro Pascal is able to convey so much while wearing a helmet. It is also a big thumbs up for Filoni and Favreau who have been able to assemble a story without bogging everyone down with exposition. They simply trust their audience is smart enough to follow along.
I cant wait for more.
Tricked me into learning about economics
My absolute favourite anime. Watch it now if you haven't already.
The Greatest Piece Of Fiction Ever Written
I normally lose interest in a show very quickly once I finish it, but it's been over a year since I finished Steins;Gate and I still think about it daily. If you haven't watched it yet, you really should!
This anime was nothing but a masterpiece, I was looking forward to each and every episode. No fillers or dragging of the plot, just very thrilling from beginning to end. Probably one of my favorite animes, if not THE favorite.
Very solid Anime. The beginning is a little rough but it does get better. It provides a neat style of magic "dueling" and the magic of the world has some interesting variety.
Edit: Coming back to say that this has turned into one of my favorite Animes. The action rarely ceases up and when it does, I still find myself fairly engrossed in the episode. I wasn't the biggest fan of the characters at the beginning, but I really do root for them now that they have trained so hard to become stronger.
Second Edit: This show really was quite good at many points and the fast paced, magical action is awesome to watch. However, the pacing can be all over the place and 20% of the episodes are pointless recap/filler. I think this show could easily reach a 9/10 if they edited the series to remove all the pointless filler and focus on the action and main story. Because of the sheer number of derailing recap episodes my rating has dropped steadily.
Damn this show really hits me in the feels. Do not watch this unless you want to see the very things you love ripped away from your trembling fingers. The natural cycle of human life is both so immensely sad and wonderful at the same time. I do wonder though, why is naivety so easily lovable when it comes to people? I look forward to seeing what else they can do with this show.
It has been a week since I finished this, and I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending. The pacing really threw me off, but the ending itself was actually really good. But there is just something about it that I can't get into. Anyway, I would definitely recommend people to watch both anime adaptations !! Personally though, I love Edward's characterization and arc, the homunculi lore, and the Big Bad villain here better than their FMAB counterparts. Maybe Roy Mustang's and Scar's respective characterization and arcs too, but I feel like their FMAB "endings" were stronger. But if I really had to pick between the two, I would choose FMAB because Olivier Mira Armstrong is my favorite character. I would also like to mention that Fullmetal vs Flame is such an iconic episode!
I'd argue that this show has actually aged quite well. It has the world building and narrative power to hold its own against the other phenomenal series that are out there. However, the simple fact is I could tell where the series diverged from the Manga simply because it felt different and in a way that was not nearly as perfect as the start of the series.
In addition, the graphics are a little choppy and they do show their age, especially when compared to something like Demon Slayer that turns the visuals of an Anime into a beautiful art form. Don't get me wrong, for the time period the animation is quite good, I'm just spoiled by having seen the magical works of art that come from decades more experience.
For primarily these reasons, I think I'm going to move onto Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood in the hopes that it takes such an incredible work of narrative art and makes it better to withstand the passing of time. I don't regret watching this series first, but I just know that Brotherhood can be everything this show was and more.
If I had reviewed this series after just the first season, I would have said its quirky and mediocre. Towards the last couple episodes of Season 1 I had finally had some more enjoyable moments. From there, however, Season 2 only let the series get better and makes me excited for Season 3! This series is simply just fun to watch.
Edit: After watching season 3, it really seals the deal. This is one of the most entertaining and well orchestrated rom-com Animes I've had the pleasure of watching.
Wow this Anime took me by surprise! To be honest, it reminded a lot of an American show called Leverage. That series was what first made me love the tricks and twists that a good show about con artistry and grifting is really about. The first season was fantastic, light-hearted and hilarious right when it needed to be.
But right when I thought I had the show figured out, season 2 changed things up. Suddenly there were some deep and dramatic themes, the ideas of learning from your history and moving on from traumatic life experiences. There was so much behind each character's motivation, and all along, the viewer needs to decipher truth from fiction!
Despite the Netflix tag attached, this has easily become one of my favorites. I will say that it feels slightly less like the Anime you might be used to, but personally I think that is less because of the Netflix puppetry, and more because this show is truly designed for an international audience.
Amazing show, I would highly recommend it.
The anime isn't bad, but teases you to death. It includes economics, something which I've never seen used in any other anime. The main plot follows a merchant and his recently acquainted "wolf girl", their quarrels and quips, and their endless flirtation which is one of the biggest teases ever. It goes on for 2 seasons riding on that fence, they're friends and partners, but not lovers, yet the show makes them speak and behave in ways as if they were while pretending not to be, holding that carrot to an unsatisfactory ending in S2.
The show is heart warming in its best moments, but becomes repetitive very quick; using the same formula, ending with S2 was inevitable. Despite having been disappointed by the ending, I think they couldn't do better without deviating or compromising the source material. In essence, this is a akin to very loooong romcom.
This is the first anime I’ve watched in years, and now I feel like whatever anime I watch after this will pale in comparison lol. Took me a while to finish because I sorta gave up a couple episodes in (also I was busy...) but I’m really glad I finished it. If you’re having a tough time getting through the beginning, trust myself and every other commenter when we say keep watching til you get to episode 10/11, because you won’t want to stop after that.
I enjoyed this series a good deal but it was much too short. The premise was interesting despite a bit of a slow feeling start. It just took awhile for the characters to properly explain the mechanics of the world they were in.
The animations and music were well done, not jaw-dropping but good. The story itself had some good points and I didn’t expect the final twist in the last episode. However, the story still felt rushed and I think I would probably enjoy the story better if I read through Key’s visual novel of this story. If I had to guess, the story is probably more fleshed out and better paced.
This Anime is so beautiful and emotional, sad and happy, dark and bright. A good romance Anime can replicate similar feelings to the first season of Clannad. A boy and a girl meet, they slowly fall in love, and by the last episode, they admit their feelings. But the second season of Clannad is what all the fans always ask for: The "after story."
And I can't imagine a better after story than this one. I openly admit I cried in far more episodes than any other Anime. Both out of sadness and happiness. Because that's what makes this Anime so amazing. It is full of ups and downs and has themes of growing up, life, the changing world, and more.
If you are looking to take something out of this Anime, treasure the small things in life, but above all, treasure the gift of life, friendship, and family. There are rarely any do-overs and you only get one. And for the people who do treasure it, their hopes and dreams will lift them up.
Just beautiful. 10/10
I’ll preface by saying, I really wanted to enjoy this show. But the reality is that each episode was like a 50/50 chance of enjoyment. Some episodes my eyes were glued to the screen, but others I easily found myself distracted, doing something else, or flat out ignoring the show in the background.
The twists are probably the most powerful part of the show. You really can’t figure out what’s going to happen beforehand. Perhaps there’s something about the sheer chaotic nature of the series that made it hard for me to root for the characters. Or maybe it’s simply the fact that every character has a fairly high chance of death in any given episode.
While I can’t say the series is great, it wasn’t garbage as others may suggest. I just couldn’t stick with it since fairly few episodes kept me interested.
