That ending musical montage was brutal. Merciless. It had me ugly crying, wtf!
I realize that it’s not a popular opinion. I’ll say it anyway: I truly enjoy the Nicky episodes. And I like them even though the writers struggle to tie his character into the main plot lines.
My wife would slap me if she also heard me say I might even like Nicky more than Jack. Nicky is imperfect. He’s not a role model. He’s broken. Yet he continues pushing through anyway. At this point in the show, I see Jack as too perfect, unobtainable, unrelatable - unreal. Nicky gives me hope for change, being better. Jack is just a perpetually happy story that keeps getting happier and happier. (Till his death, obviously.)
This is one of those types of episodes that I couldn’t appreciate until after I was a parent.
On the one hand, I can’t think of any flaws in this episode. On the other hand, neither my wife nor I felt as touched as we thought we’d be as we watched it. What an odd dichotomy.
Yawn. This episode did not move me.
Surprise, surprise. NBC gave us another filler episode. Let's just jump to the wedding episode already and be done with this season.
This show has given us so many memorable arcs and poignant episodes over the years. Now its greatest challenge continues to be living up to its past successes.
I’ve said it before. I’ll say it again: You’re a star, Nicky. You steal each episode, whether it be happy or sad or light or tragic. Unapologetically you, you flawed wonderful old man.
Without spoiling anything, I’ll just say I thought this is the best episode of the season since the one where Nicky visited his old beaux. And this show badly needed a solid episode to rise out of the slump.
Watching this show is like watching The Bachelor for me. The people on it try so hard while I watch just to laugh at the absurdity of it all.

I resent how the writers waited until the last 150 seconds of the episode to provide a resolution to what was billed as the ultimate confrontation between Randall and Kevin.
The entire confrontation between Kevin and Randall lacked the depth and substance the show runners had hyped it to be.
It’s not so much that I wanted them to mend their relationship in the first 10 minutes. My disappointment is more that I felt the first 57.5 minutes of the show was just meaningless filler. Only the last 2.5 minutes had anything with meaningful substance, in my opinion.
Gd this f’n show. Time to go hug my kid and call my mom now. Thanks for that. Assholes.
At the risk of alienating myself, I’ll divulge that I did not enjoy this episode. Not a very satisfying backstory. Several plot holes in my mind. I dunno. Just wasn’t feeling it.
What an incredibly depressing and unsatisfying story. What’s the point of bothering to go back to Jupiter? So you can give birth to some child destined to live and die alone with no hope to escape? Is this some artsy take on the futility of life?
Why in the world the Russians gonna leave River just tied up in the air strip building instead of killing him like they did everyone else? Plot armor much? Ok after having watched the next episode: I get it now. :ok_hand:

I do not feel sorry for Kevin. Not an iota of sympathy for him from me. I do credit the writers who, after 6 seasons, stay true to his narcissism.
I do feel sorry for Toby and Kate. They both seem well-intentioned as they unknowingly careen forward to some sad ending. Both finally have dream jobs. Yippee. Now they need to pick 2: successful job, cohesive family, and happiness. Cuz this show has taught me you can’t have all 3! Something’s gotta give.
I liked the bit about there always being more time in the day to overwrite a bad memory with something good.
Now I have the urge to go sneak into my son’s room to cuddle him. Bye.
While I continue to enjoy this show, these episodes are getting weirder and more abstract with each one.

In my opinion, this is a wholly forgettable episode!
With Miguel next week, I have low expectations. But the wonderful thing about low expectations is that it’s easier to exceed them! Time will tell.
If Furio gets away before he gets a chance to plow Tony’s wife, I will be supremely disappointed. Both of them deserve it. Just once. For the road.
That brief scene with Meadow justifying the behavior of her family and father's associates - wow. Totally caught me by surprise. Bravo.
Solid episode. Really impressed by Stallone's performance. His conversations with Kate and Kevin came across as sincere and touching.
Does anyone else find it equally predictable and annoying that the writers keep teasing us, trying to make us believe that, "Great, Midge is finally going to catch her break?" Only for something bad to happen and for her to fall 3 steps backward.
It's been the same thing every season since season 2. Kinda over it by now.
I'll continue watching the show because it's something for the wife and me to do, but I'm not invested in the story. Too much predictable 1-step-forward then 2-steps-back plot charades.

After each episode of this show, I kept asking myself, "What the hell am I watching here?" After this 8th and final episode, I still have no idea.
Not digging the season so far. Selena's fall from the top only serves to emphasize her bad qualities without highlighting any of her good qualities. As a result, instead of being witty, charismatic, and hilariously cynical, she comes across as pathetic and ineffective. Need at least a dash of Selena's positive attributes to help balance this pending train wreck because I don't see her as a likable character in past few episodes.
Hopefully, the always brilliant Finnish PM will provide a helpful bump for the season in her guest visit.
They sure squeezed a lot into this episode. Wow. I found Deja’s retort to Randell about being mature for her age to be my personal favorite moment of the otherwise busy episode.
I do appreciate the twists the writers keep throwing our way. Sometimes they’re overt and annoying to the point of false advertising. Then other times, like in the final couple scenes of this episode, the twists are subtle and more palatable.
