Pretty good episode. I'm glad they put more focus on Brett, because Stonewall Prep is a good story arc. I see the cracks forming in the relationship between Betty and Jug which will set thing up nicely for what's coming.
What still amazes me is how teenagers like Cheryl and Veronica have time to run business, a shadow business, a social life, boy/girlfriends and get good grades in school. How? Also Hiram keeps picking fight with teenagers... why though? Why?
When you think Riverdale can't get more over the top...boom, here comes the tickling porn!
At this point I'm just waiting for aliens with anal probes.
Veronica still tries the same tactics when going up against her dad, every season. “Daddy, you may have kept me from doing this. But here are my plans to counter that.” Hiram: thank you for telling me everything because I will screw up those plans.
It’s still funny that her idea of being independent. Consists of her getting something handed down to her. The Speak Easy she is so proud of her is because she kidnapped someone for money. She calls that earning it.
Oh and the Cheerleader scenes are always so corny and unrealistic.
Betty's magic serial killer genes somehow allow her to identify serial killers from photos only - as if this is at all a probable exercise for the FBI. More and more this show is impossible to enjoy even in its absurdity.
Also I have no idea what's going on with Hermione's storyline and I really don't care anymore. Archie is back to his vigilantism and is still so boring.
All of these storylines kind of suck right now. There's nothing tying them together, there's no overarching plot except the anticipation that Jughead is supposedly going to die.
Charles, FBI, working with his teenage half sister to bring down a cult. Ridiculous.
Cheryl has her stuffed dead brother hidden in a weird dungeon part of the house but leaves him sitting there under a mere blanket while she throws a party upstairs. Ridiculous.
Archie and Veronica both know Reggie gets beaten by his dad and don't inform any adults or police about it. Ridiculous.
This show is so silly but somehow I can't quit. I'm too invested now.
The show is usually silly with annoying vain characters. But this one is just painful to watch. Because it’s a moving and sad tribute about Archie losing his father.
Which in a way is also a moving and sad tribute to the late Luke Perry who played the father.
I rarely can take Riverdale serious with how over the top ridiculous it tend to be, but I have nothing bad to say about this episode. They honored Luke Perry and his character well. It was sad, especially the ending clip with Archie got to me. Can’t have been easy for the cast to do it either, so props to them.
As someone who grew up watching Beverly Hills reruns religiously, I love that Shannen Doherty made an appearance in this episode too. I had hoped for more knowing she was going to be in it, like her character would have some kind of connection to Fred, but I still liked it and it was nice to see her in this.
R.I.P., Luke Perry.
every episode of this show is a rerun of vigilante!archie and veronica vs. hiram which is getting tired and boring. the dark betty storyline is also complete bs - how has she been hypnotised when she never lived at the farm? also, if alice was undercover while she was there, how did she get hypnotised? only polly was ever really a true follower so this just doesn't make sense to me. i'm enjoying s4 compared to 2 and 3 but i feel like it's not really going anywhere different so far
I never liked any of the Dark Betty plotlines, but it's gotten out of hand this season - first the serial killer gene and now her shadow self could be (or has been?) awakened like a sleeper agent through post-hypnotic suggestion... The writing is so clunky and over the top. But thank god Cheryl finally got rid of that creepy preserved body of her brother.
The one enjoyable part of this was the return of Evelyn, who was very creepy but fun to watch in her one scene.
Also these flashforwards to dead Jughead are feeling very "How to Get Away with Murder"-esque.
Thank goodness for Gina Torres. Framing the episode through Mrs. Burble's sessions as the new guidance counsellor was a very good choice and made for the most enjoyable episode of the season.
What year does this story take place in? Tape recorders & VHS tapes/players...seriously!
For me that might have been the best Riverdale episode in a long time.
I liked how serious these therapy sessions were and how they actually mentioned all the weird bs that's been happening non-stop. It's unfortunate how some of them didn't take the therapist's advice though (like Archie keeps trying to play superhero and Veronica once again declares war and Independence from her father instead of walking away from him), and I'm sure most of the advice and self-awareness will be forgotten anyway in the next episode.
I completely lost it when Holt danced saying "Derek"
I'm gonna need an entire episode of Frederick/Raymond backstory.
over rated Gina is over rated Gina. I'm sure she'll be back sometime in the future
I was skeptical about this season, because I didn't really like the first few episodes, not to mention Gina's disappointing farewell, but these last few episodes always made my day. And I really hope we get to see Lin-Manuel Miranda again in the show! :)
kourtney i want a friend like you
holy crap, that duet between ashlyn and nini was so good. i literally got goosebumps.
also i just love ricky. he's so cute. his dancing skills kinda remind me of finn's from glee though
I think Grace has developed some kind of split personality, as a coping mechanism for all the abuse and horrors and loss she has experienced.
This is supported by the fact that she has no memory of the events immediately after Mary’s death even though she was walking and talking to others around her, and her speaking as Mary while under hypnosis.
It would also explain why she always hears Mary telling her "Let me in". The second personality took over Mary’s characteristics (probably because she couldn‘t let Mary go, she was her best and only friend after all). This leads to all the gaps in her memory and her use of "Mary Whitney" as her alias while on the run.
I have to admit I‘m always disappointed if a murderer turns out to have a multiple personality disorder. I know that this show is based on a book which was first published in 1996, so I’m sure when the book came out this revelation was groundbreaking. But by now this has been done to death and is just boring for me. Apart from the ending I enjoyed this show a lot, I definitely recommend it.
I love the whole mini series, holds your attention and leaves you confused (in a good way) whether or not she is guilty and / or whether she has double personality or not.
In my opinion she is guilty of the murders and has double personality because of the past suffered that she had.
In short: A great series!
Grace spins a wondrous tale. Now to discern fact from fiction...Compelling start. My only regret is not starting the series sooner.
I wonder what version is the truth. The one Grace is telling or the one James McDermott wrote in his confession. Is Grace really innocent or is that all an act? Or is she schizophrenic?
Honestly, after seeing what idiots Nicholas and Alexandra were and the endless series of terribly bad decisions they made, it's a wonder they lived as long as they did. They really had ample opportunity to course correct.
I grew up with the animated movie, and so I always felt really bad for the Romanov family. Now, I feel like both parents made their beds. I just wish the kids hadn't been forced to pay for their parents' sins.
This was greatly entertaining and funny. One of my favourite episodes.
Besides, Joey wishing that chandler gets the job is one of the reasons why I love Chandler and Joey together. Bromance at its finest (:
