Justifiably sentimental about the decay of news, and broadcast journalism in particular.
I was completely charmed by this film. The characters are smart and funny and feel real, especially the women. Kelly Bishop in particular is delightful as Jill Clayburgh's bipolar best friend. With its frank and thoughtful discussions of sex and relationships it definitely feels like a precursor to Sex and the City. The scenes of the four female friends drinking together and gabbing in the back of New York City cabs makes me think Michael Patrick King must have been inspired when creating his series some 20 years later. Even some of the saxophone heavy scoring is reminiscent and Carrie's outfit in the series' opening credits could easily have been an homage to Clayburgh's final costume in the film.
Actually funny which is truly miraculous for a network family comedy in 2016.
Great performances and direction but the material just isn't there. It starts off so strong but then just meanders on, not really making any sense for 4 more hours. A shame. More time in the writers room next time please.
The music is just so good nothing else matters.
I was truly transported by this film. Despite the long succession of depressing events it somehow managed to be uplifting.
The numbers are fantastic but the rest of it falls pretty flat for me.
A look at the plight of refugees fleeing by boat through the eyes of a small fishing community on a tiny Sicilian island. Absolutely stunning cinematography in this thought-provoking film.
A silly but cute movie. And I'm still surprised Swayze, Snipes and Leguizamo were up for this way back in 1995.
Sorry to say it but... boooooooooooring.
Seemingly quite simple but it feels really special and unique. Tomlin and Harden are firing on so many different levels.
Fascinating story but I could have done without the distracting "re-enactment" scenes. I think it would have worked better as a traditional documentary.
Ridiculous. As if Avi would have kept the poker. They would have destroyed it not put it in some insecure storage. I can only suspend my disbelief so far.
Kristen Chenoweth is fantastic! I'm surprised she hasn't done more voice work.
"Burying some Dominican guy's rooster!" LOL so good.
10 for Boo's handling of Doggett's rape. 4 for Piper's abrupt character change. Such things need to be worked up to. 10 for the psychologist's oh so deserved takedown of Healy.
"Paper covers rock." Easily one of the most fun episodes of the final season.
I'm concerned about the furious brushing Felicity Huffman gave her teeth. She's going to seriously recede her gums if she keeps that up.
What happened to this show? The second season was so strong but none of the story lines
are remotely compelling this season. Terry the martyr in jail? Boohoo Ray and his millionaire client? Mickey the pimp? And worst of all, Bunchy and the ridiculous Mexican fighters at the gym? It's just silly. Such a shame.
You go, Helen! Words can't express how much Noah completely deserved that. What a scumbag.
So satisfying to see the fallout of the affair. Helen handles it exactly as she should. Terrific episode.
Brilliant documentary series if very dispiriting in regards to the US justice system.
Daaaaaaaamn. Now we're really taking flight! Best episode so far.
Brilliant. Super-intense, smart and compelling from beginning to end.
It took a while to get going but was really quite lovely in the end. Clooney was very funny in his brief appearance, Miley Cyrus gave a surprisingly gorgeous rendition of "Silent Night" and I was pleasantly surprised by Rashida Jones' singing - perhaps her father gave her some guidance. I definitely had the warm and fuzzies by its conclusion.
Wow. Seriously this show just keeps getting better and better. Absolutely love the juxtaposition of Laurie's explanation and Kevin's actions. Brilliant writing.
Carrie Coon is absolutely magnificent and I am enjoying this season so much more than the first. Truly compelling.
Smart concept, surprisingly inventive and the fabulous animation we've come to expect from Pixar, not to mention truly moving in parts. Absolutely loved it.
This is absolute peak Beyoncé for me. Truly spectacular choreography and vocals. Only her best tracks and some great covers. It felt much more fun and less indulgent than some of her later concerts.
