Even the sh***y DVD screener I watched this on could not diminish how astoundingly beautiful and wholesome this film is
It Was All Going Well. Untill, Logan Gets Snapped ugghh.. Expected Better Ending Plot..:pensive:
Another terrible finale. Clyde Phillips can suck it.
Most stupid finale I've ever seen
i’m so fucking angry. i refuse to believe it. NO!
The whole season was a solid 6/10. But finale was rushed and mediocre at best, A solid 3/10. I don't mind Harrison killing Dexter. But their encounter and conversation was so off and bizarre. The only character that was properly utilized was Angela.
P. S. : I can understand Dexter's willingness to die for his son. But I couldn't see the need for harrison to kill Dexter. Just my personal opinion.
Worst ending ever on tv ...
What another spectacular. The second time was definitely not a charm. This ending was terrible!
lol, this is worse than original ending. It's like they were going for season 2 and then halfway through the shooting of last episode it got cancelled so they finished the entire story in 20 mins.
Why would Dexter kill Logan when Angela's theory for him to be BHB rested on finding some needle marks and ketamine on some junkies. And he could've claimed Kurt set him up because he found Kurt's bunker. This makes no sense.
Why is it so easy for Angela to find evidence? Very weak & unoriginal writing.
His last sorry at the end of his life
It’s like he is saying it for everyone who watched this season :”|
There are no dexter in this Dexternewblood thing
nothing like his father huh? just shot dead for no reason. the show was good until the ending. just let dexter run to cali and start a new season!!!!! dumb writer.
That ending just proved that this new show was just another terrible cashgrab sequel that they made just to take a dump on the original show of Dexter. The worst thing is that they have an amazing character to work with and there is so much they can do with it but instead of rebooting the series, they end it after only 10 episodes and not in a good way. It makes no sense to root for the characters that weren't even in the original Dexter, they are like unimportant side characters in Dexter's story and they are given too much focus and too much support.
Also, OG Dexter never would have made those mistakes and he would have always put his survival above everything else. And claiming that Dexter loves Harrison although he is incapable of love is just lazy writing.
All of this is lazy writing. Most modern hollywood tv shows and movies are just terrible reboots and terrible sequels that nobody asked for and when we do get a sequel that we would be interested in, they take a huge dump on it, as if to mock the original show's creators for putting in so much work into it.
The only things that have remained consistent over the past couple of years are anime, manga and books. And once a year, if I'm lucky, I get 1 movie that is a true 10/10, and maybe one show that I really love but it isn't like what it used to be, because nobody seems to know how to write good stories anymore, even with a character as basic and easy to write as Dexter. This show takes lazy writing to a whole other level.
Really wanna give it less than the minimum 1 star. This was atrocious. How ironic the whole intent of this series was to fix the “ending” and wound up being far worse than the original finale. This was gut wrenching, not because of anything happening on screen, but because of how ill conceived and unprepared this whole thing felt. The entire season was a letdown but this finale was the nail in the coffin. Goodbye Dexter Morgan, you deserved better.
My only comment is this: Meh....
What has happened in the finale is not the problem. The problem is how it happened.
Why did they even bother showing Batista again?
A show notorious for an awful ending comes back from the dead and has an even worse second ending. I need to rewatch the old seasons to wash the taste of awful out of my mouth.
WOW what a f ending ... lol alone Harrison goes away like a normal person wtf xD
And killing his father y why not...
Soon he will be a real killer...
After all ... the season was not worth it alone the Father & Son bond was weird AF
"Dexter: New Blood showrunner and screenwriter Clyde Phillips teased in a new interview that the finale of the continuation series will "blow up the internet" when it airs." "It is, I personally think, the best thing I've written."
A lot of things in this episode doesn't make sense also I don't mind killing Dex at the end but serving very dissapointing ending TWICE, wow what an achievement... They make fool out of me, again. What now? Season two and Dex will be a ghost, like Harry? Please, don't.
The ending completely ruined it...
I'm so f.. furious right now!
A show notorious for an awful ending comes back from the dead and has an even worse second ending.
An ending which wasn't earned at all:
- Dexter is acting sloppy and idiotic the whole time. This is a man who got away with hundreds of murders.
- Angela, who hasn't been able to solve a series of missing persons cases in her own town for 10+ years, solves the BHB case thanks to a series of plot contrivances, a google search and a freaking retcon (the M99/ketamine inconsistency, that made all of this possible). Her conversation with Batista in the final episode makes no sense either.
- The writing for Harrison is all over the place. After ten episodes I barely know who this kid is and what he wants. He keeps running away from conversations until the final couple of episodes and then we get barely 45 min of father-son bonding out of the whole season. His 180° turn in the next and final episode feels incredibly rushed.
- The show completely falls apart when Dexter kills Logan and he didn’t have to. All the evidence they had on Dexter was circumstantial at best, they had nothing solid to tie him to any of the murders. Any capable lawyer would have got him out of this. So his decision to attack a cop and prove himself a killer is the most illogical and out of character action he could have taken at the time. It was all downhill from there.
I am not upset Dexter died. His death could’ve happened in any number of fulfilling ways that honored the journey and the themes of humanity, morality, consequences, personal growth, development of empathy, justice/vengeance, the lasting effects of trauma the show explored in its' original run.
I’m upset they instead had his own son put him down like an animal while undermining years of character development to tell us he was just a psychopath incapable of feeling all along. Vilifying him entirely at the last second to force this outcome feels like weird moralistic bullshit punishing and mocking us for caring. Miss me with that bullshit.
Welcome back Dexter Morgan :hearts: God I missed him so much! And Deb too omgawd I'M SO HYPED!!!!
So glad they didn't change the music either it felt so nostalgic.
This season is a dream come true. I have tears in my eyes of happiness.
In Captain Marvel, I didn’t like the main character, but I thought the movie around her was quite solid.
Black Widow is the exact opposite: I quite liked the two leads, but the movie surrounding them doesn’t really work.
Pros:
- Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh are easily the most entertaining part of the film.
- I liked the first act. It feels like Cate Shortland is trying to do an impression of a Jason Bourne movie. It’s fairly humourless, the cinematography is bleak, and the score is intense. It has a tone that no other MCU film has.
- The action (minus the final battle) is fairly well done. As per usual, less editing would’ve made it better, but at least it feels weighty.
Cons:
- The story itself isn’t that interesting. The themes and main mcguffin are oddly similar to Captain Marvel, though it’s not executed as well. The villains also fail to make an impression.
- This movie really loses its identity as it goes along, to the point where it turns more into a generic Marvel movie as it goes on, and eventually a generic action blockbuster by the third act. Everything gets way too big and bloated for its own good.
- Not a fan of the Russian accents, they sound very tacky. Just let everyone speak with a normal American accent, I can look past the fact they’re Russians. Besides, they even had a story based reason to ditch the Russian accents entirely.
- I found David Harbour quite cringeworthy in this.
- The main characters are protected by strong plot armour. Most characters should’ve been killed 3-4 times based on the things that happen during the action scenes. This isn’t even a ‘suspend your disbelief, it’s an action movie’ situation, it gets really ridiculous, to the point where it’s almost Fast and Furious level.
- The pacing is a bit inconsistent, you really feel it slowing down during the second act.
Finally, I want to address that I already find the use of Nirvana songs in movies like these quite distasteful, but the cover that's used during the credits literally sucked all the life out of the song.
4.5/10
Because Natasha is always described as this awesome super spy, I really thought this movie would be kind of an over-the-top James Bond movie. I mean, you've got a Soviet Big Bad Guy with an evil lair and evil plan, like in the old school Bond films. I was very happy early on in the movie, with the Soviet agents couple undercover in Ohio, and then when Nat tries to lay low after Civil War. But then it switched from a potentially cool spy movie (and original for a Marvel) to a classic super hero movie.
So instead we got an over-the-top Agents of SHIELD episode. Every hero is sub-par, except Taskmaster, which doesn't even get that much screen time. The second most powerful hero, Red Guardian, is ridiculed all the time and doesn't really have an opportunity to shine. I thought the prison escape would be that. I mean, Netflix did a crazy good prison fight scene in The Punisher, but Marvel couldn't even remotely top that in a huge production? Very disappointed by all the missed opportunities.
The story and art style definitely seem cool and interesting, but the long, dull, uninspired battle scenes drag on too much, and the sound effects just don’t make sense. Swords whooshing sound like transformers, and it’s all so exagerated, it’s off-putting. Don’t waste your time, this show isn’t worth it.
