Martha shows signs of manic behavior, all consistent with bipolar disorder: the grandiose lies, the giddiness, the pressured speech, the persistent sexually inappropriate remarks, the disorganized home etc.
Finally! The Fallout 4 theme music I was waiting for!
I'm a huge fan of SF and AI based plots - I was really looking forward to seeing this but it was a frustrating disappointment. It has terrible horrible shamefully bad writing. Not a single original idea about AI and in fact they don't really deal with AI apart from robots basically being exactly like humans but nicer. No original futuristic sci-fi ideas either with a lot of the futuristic stuff not making any sense. For example the AIs speak to each other in English, no super fast data pours between them. They can't even speak remotely over cellular or whatever... they use walkie talkies lol. They had an old women robot that limped around though the robots do not age?!? I could have forgiven all of this in the 80s or from an adaptation of an Isaac Asinov novel but we're in 2023 and we've all watched the Matrix etc... Also it had very little action and the action sequences it did have were bad and boring with yellow lazer tracers zapping around in the near dark or fog. Visually it was ok and the score was decent but the poor writing completely ruined it for me. Half way through, I couldn't wait for it to end. You can't be a serious Sci-fi fan and think this is any good, it's just not possible... yes that's you good reviewers.
wow, just wow... heartbreaking from the beginning, much beloved Michael J Fox and his journey with parkinsons.
Stallone said he’ll never watch it because what they did to him with copyrights of Rocky. No Rocky in the movie? No movie.
For a minute there I thought I downloaded the wrong show. :joy:
What a great episode! This is quality Trek, not that melodramatic melancholic BS from Picard. What amazing character development! What fun characters, and yes this includes not just the now-much-deeper La’an and New Kirk but also secondary characters like Pelia — how fun is her accent? I hate to s*** on Picard again, but that was condescending like it was written for grade schoolers while this is an actual SciFi show with chops to stand on its own. Please, PLEASE keep it up and give is MORE of this awesomeness!
There's no way they could top the first.
...but then they did
absolutely nothing like the original stories written by Mo Hayder and why start with the seventh book in the series? makes no sense at all
It’s not horrible. Entering through this door means giving up all hopes of logic and that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Sure, it’s not destined to be a classic piece of sci fi but for all its faults, there are some imaginative ideas here.
Wouldn’t it be easier and safer to put the robots (replicas) on the space mission? Like duh? They do not need life support system, food, and physical activity. Would it be nicer if they actual humans stayed in their homes and spend their time with family?
Somehow, the pilot of story twisted to make us watch 80 minutes episode, almost as long as a movie. Just to tell us that we need to take care of our family and loved ones! The only explanation for this movie plot is that the astronauts were already in a long distance space mission and later on, they have decided to make the replicas for their families.
Glad I had my pillow to hide behind, nerve racking, stress inducing, finger nail biting and brilliant scary first episode.
Tears. Tears everywhere. Again. I know some people won’t like this episode, but if you haven’t caught on yet, this is a story about love, and this was a beautifully placed story about that.
would have been a 10 if they hadnt put a random whale in the street. still an incredible ending to the story, great twists.
One of the things I enjoy the most about Lower Decks is that, while it being a Star Trek series, it carelessly makes fun of Star Trek's clichés and silly things that have been part of the whole franchise throughout the years. This episode was particularly good at that. 'Twas a lot of fun!
I would be really surprised if the people who made this show didn't take some inspiration from Bioshock Infinite. The city and the gadgets really remind me of it, and Caitlyn reminds of Elizabeth too.
A definite product of its time and whilst not exactly politically correct and a tad racist/homophobic at times its no worse than some of todays comedians attempts at humour, so for me I enjoy it immensely and continually laugh out loud and cringe at the same time as I soak in the pure genius of Windsor Davies and the rest of the supporting cast.
A film I first watched about 40 years and it produces great childhood memories and considering it's a 1963 release the effects really are impressive for the time. A big thumbs up film for me which never fails to grab me every time its shown.
I am leaving this show because I couldn't find it as funny
Welp. That was depressing and dark as fuck.
Talk about getting the Bad End.
But if this is a taste of what Multiverse of Madness is going to be like... Consider me even more hyped.
Pirates of the Caribbean meets Indiana Jones.
Nice try, just entertaining, not a masterpiece.
Bloodsport: “Nobody likes a showoff.”
Peacemaker: “Unless what they showing off is dope as fuck.”
James Gunn recently said in an interview that he finds superhero movies “mostly boring” right now. Anything ranging from safe and boring or technically well-made but disposable, at best. Gunn received at bit of heat from fans for those remarks, but in some sense, he’s not wrong. Because sometimes following the same formula will eventually wear fin and more risk taking needs to happen.
And here we have ‘The Suicide Squad’, the soft reboot to the 2016 film, but this time directed by Gunn himself, where he delivers a highly entertaining movie that is bursting with creativity and ultra-violence. James Gunn once again shakes up the superhero formula with a slick style. I’m just glad DC is finally letting directors have a voice and a vision, and I hope it stays like that.
The first 10-15 minutes tells you exactly what the movie is going to be.
I just can't believe we got something like this. It's 2 hours and 12 minutes long, but it's always on the move. It’s bonkers from start till finish, and I enjoyed every minute of it. This is probably one of the best shot movies in the DCU. The soundtrack is great as well and used effectively. The action scenes were insane and made the overall experience one of the most fun I had at the cinema in a long time.
A massive improvement over the 2016 film, AKA ‘the studio cut’, is that the movie doesn’t look ugly and isn’t chopped together by trailer editors. The movie is vibrant in colours that made it look pleasing to the eye. The structure at times is messy, and yet strangely well-paced, as there’s a lot going on.
Did I mention the movie is very gory? It’s cartoonish violence, or what people call "adult superhero movie", so it's not for kiddies or for the faint of heart. You would probably guess that not everybody on the team is going to make it to the end credits, so deaths are to be expected, but how certain characters “bite the dust” are so unexpectedly gruesome and brutal, it took me by surprise each time. The marketing for the movie was right, don’t get too attached. As I said before, James Gunn had complete creative control over the movie, and he doesn’t hold back on what he wrote and show on screen. But then again, it's a movie, it's not real, the actors who die on screen are fine in real life...I think.
All the cast members have equal amount of time to shine, and you like these super villains this time around, as each character had wonderful chemistry with each other. John Cena plays Peacemaker, who can be best described as a “douchebag version of Captain America”. An extreme patriot who will do the most horrific things for liberty. John Cena excels in the deadpan line delivery for comedic effect, but surprisingly enough, worked well in the serious moments. Looking forward to the spin-off show ‘Peacemaker’.
Margot Robbie once again nails the role of the chaotic but gleeful Harley Quinn. While the character isn’t front and centre this time around, more of a side character, but whenever the character is on screen, it’s instantly memorable.
Idris Elba plays Bloodsport, a contract killer who’s doing time in prison after failing to kill Superman with a kryptonite bullet, while also dealing with family issues, especially with his daughter. While the character may sound like Will Smith’s Deadshot from the 2016 film, but trust me, the execution here is much stronger. This is by far Elba’s best work in a while. Charismatic and a strong leading presence.
Polka Dot Man, played by character actor David Dastmalchian, a socially awkward, weird, and lame sounding character that has some serious mummy issues, which has a funny running visual gag throughout. However, because of Gunn’s writing and Dastmalchian's performance, the character is more than a joke, but a unique character to watch.
Ratcatcher 2, played wonderfully by Daniela Melchior, who brought so much warmth and heart to the film. I loved how they tied in her tragic backstory into the finale, as it honestly made me cry. And let’s not forget the king himself, King Shark, voiced by Sylvester Stallone. He stole every scene he’s in, because he’s so adorable and has such kind eyes, but when he’s hungry, he can be a killing machine.
The rest of the supporting cast, even in the smaller roles, still manage to stand out amidst all the chaos. I liked Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag a lot more this time around, because the actor was given more to work with in terms of good material. Viola Davis is brilliant as the cold and ruthless Amanda Waller. And Peter Capaldi is always a pleasure to see. Also, I like the character of Weasel, who I can describe as a unholy offspring of Shin Godzilla and Rocket Racoon. He may not be beautiful to look at, but he's beautiful to me.
Like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, the movie has a lot of heart and I like how they took certain characters, who on page sound stupid and ridiculous but are handled with such love and depth, while also being self-aware of its own characterization.
You can literally watch this as a standalone movie and you won’t be lost or confused, as you don’t need to watch 22 other movies to understand it. This is by far the strongest entry in this jumbled mess of a cinematic universe.
Overall rating: Nom-nom!
Edge of Tomorrow surprisingly worked. The Tomorrow War unsurprisingly didn't.
Anyone one looking to start this, I got advice for you...Just don’s. Seriously, you can’t undo the time you will lose from watching this crap that has piss poor story, lazy acting, terrible script, and has been actors. How, in their right mind, anyone would pay for Nicole Kidman to start in their show. She literally has no facial expression. Here’s to 6 hours of my life I will never be able to undo.
This episode made me feel things i never really felt in my entire life. It is more disturbing than Game of Thrones 3x09, cause here it doesnt have the shocking value. It's just anguish and deep sadness for 26 minutes. I kept the ending credits til the end and burst into tears right after the Netflix logo appeared. I did prevent myself from watch the finale for like, 2 hours maybe. This fucked me up and even now that i know how it ended, still a very dark episode. I feel like i will never be able to watch again. For me it's a 10/10 episode, but it really screw my mind up.
This is so sad, Alexa play The Ghost Of You by my chemical romance

When it comes to the Alien franchise you need to do 2 things.
Remember that Alien is a straightforward horror movie and that Aliens is a straight up action movie with horror elements. The two exist in the same franchise universe but as movies are basically separate entities.
There are plenty of stories out there about how Ridley Scott (who created the franchise and original film) disliked the way James Cameron took the whole Alien entity in a different direction. His original vision had nothing to do with a hive like mentality, with a queen alien and so forth. So to enjoy both movies you have to look at them separately within the same universe... Confusing I know, but essential to get the most enjoyment out of both films.
It starts of very nicely, aping the opening feel of the original movie, and the pacing of the first act is slow and methodical. It shows that the 'company' is more concerned about it's profits than it's employees (sound familiar) and is more than willing to scapegoat the only survivor (we find out why shortly after).
Please note that I own and will only watch the directors cut of this movie. I think the extended scenes, added exterior shots and information about how the company sent out some of the settlers to see if Ripley's story was true... Adds a great deal to the viewing enjoyment and I highly recommend that everyone watches it.
By the end of the first act, we have found out that a family was sent out to the crash site from the original movie, and that one of them was attacked by a facehugger... and that contact with the colony on that planet was lost... So a rescue team is on it's way to investigate and they want Ripley along as an advisor/consultant.
The special effects for this movie are pretty damn good considering it's from 1986, James Cameron makes a lot of use of miniature sets with lots of attention paid to details. So the viewer finds it difficult to tell where the miniature set ends and full size begins.
The action and tension begins to get ramped up, there's some great dialogue and friction between members of the Marines and once again female characters are not only present, but there as fully fledged characters, not just some pathetic love interest to fulfill a plot requirement... and of course Sigourney Weaver in the lead role. It's one of the reasons that the Alien franchise has survived 4 films and it's entirely down to her character. The performances of the cast is excellent, the FX are great for the period and the buildup to the final conclusion works really well... and of course has led to the often used quote 'Get away from her you bitch" in many other movies... parody or not. It's become part of pop culture in the same way as Vader telling Luke that he's his father has (albeit to a lesser degree). You mention that line, and people know what/who you are quoting.
I've lost count of the number of times I have watched and purchased these movies over the decades... I owned them on VHS in widescreen directors cuts, then the 20th anniversary 5 disc DVD boxset... then the 25th 9 disc DVD boxset and now I have them on bluray.
I will not however be buying them again in 4K when they inevitably get released again... These movies, the original Star Wars trilogy, Terminator & T2 and The Crow are movies I have spent far too much money on buying again and gain over the years.
I love mockumentories, and this does not fail. As a "more mature" adult, I love the tounge in cheek comments these two make, as well as their reasoning. If you are not from the UK, it some of the references might get lost on you. Hope to see another season!
I didn’t plan on binging the entire season in a day, but I really enjoyed watching it despite being confused by the storyline a few times, but everything mostly came together towards the end. And to be honest, the storyline could’ve been a lot better, but whatever.
My favorite character is Poe. I still feel that he’s being under utilized, even though we got see a lot more of him this season than last. I hope next season the writers’ expand a lot more on the character and we eventually see a Sleeved Poe — that’ll be so dope!
