Freddie Highmore is such an incredible actor. His performance in this tv show as a genius autistic doctor is absolutely amazing. If you debated on whether or not to pick up this new show for watching, do it!! You will not be disappointed.
Could this be the new "House"
Girls just got stronger as the series went on. Lena Dunham who created, wrote, directed and starred is extremely talented. Pretty sure I'm not the target demographic (37 year old Australian male. We are fairly niche), but the writing and honesty in Dunham's performance is really something. The 10 episodes of season 1 felt very organic, they all fit together very well. By the end it feels quite tidy, but open for a second season.
They make a nice nod to SatC in the first episode, but dismiss it. On paper comparisons on premise could be made, but it clearly isn't and they tell you up front.
I found the character of Adam fascinating with an amazing performance.
Wilson have Cancer, now House should be diagnosed with Lupus, and that would be the major irony of this show
Ridiculously good show, but one where people criticising the "formulaic" nature are missing the point entirely. The medicine is merely a vehicle for the logic, philosophy, ethics, and comedy involved in the intricate writing of the show. Re-watching forevermore.
Loved the ending. Not too sensational, but fitting.
Thank you David Shore, for an amazing series.
And Hugh, looking forward to your next project!
This show is amazing! I can't believe i've missed it all these years until trakt came along.
I love how Doctor House always talks sarcastically against his team and how he always plays pranks on the people he cares about. He is brilliant doctor in how he always finds an answer to problems other doctors cannot analyze.
Over the seasons we see more and more of the characters and get to know the people behind the white doctor clothes. Every one of them has their own story to tell that in the end makes them as real as anyone who watches this show.
Each season is way too formulaic.
I truly enjoy the first half of these seasons, but I often get bored of the pointless tasks that the characters perform during the second half of the season just because the need to fill 24 hours/episodes.
I hate this damn show. Started pretty well. First season had me hook and then the usual happen. The show turns into a circus. The story is unrealistic. Jack is a brute. The plot in all seasons are identical. You can predict what's going to happen in the next 10 episodes in a each season after watching the first 6. The show is prejudice and racist. I swear if I was from the middle of east I would of sued the producer and writer. Jack don't obey the law. He obeys no one. He follows no rules but he gets away with it. He kills and torture people and get away with it. He never lost a fight. He fights soldiers like himself and always win. Like don't they all got the same training you got lol. Like come on. You can ways count on him to save the day. I particular hate stupid plots like this. I am an American and I hate this crap about American shows. The white hero always saving the fucking day business. How about a black or Hispanic or Middle East guy saving the world for once. And stop making people more stupid with his computer geniuses in these shows who seems to know how to do it all. If that was so true than a lot of people who are engineers like myself in the IT field would of been unemployed. No you can not copy an entire data center to a bloody thumb drive. I see these none sense in two many shows. 24, Nikita, alias, etc...they all have this one guy who can do it all. I can believe this crap is coming back.
Not quite the "feminist Western" which Netflix seemed to promote it as, but that's fine because it didn't need to be. Godless is a lush and rich Western miniseries which somehow feels fresh while still embodying many tropes of the genre. We have a tired sheriff with an overeager deputy, a band of outlaws seeking revenge and a mysterious stranger on the run. All this happens in and around a town populated almost entirely by (badass) women.
It's to the shows credit that it makes each of these clichés feel unique and interesting. The sheriff is losing his eyesight and is regarded as a coward by the women he's charged with protecting, while simultaneously struggling with feelings of resentment to his own little daughter. The evil outlaw (played superbly by Jeff Daniels) is actually a man capable of incredible compassion and acts of love alongside his brutality. And Whitey, the overeager deputy, turns out to be one of the most enjoyable and unpredictable characters in the whole thing.
But it's the girls of La Belle who do manage to steal a good portion of the show. Maggie is tough as nails and doesn't back down an inch when confronted with male posturing, as well as being engaged in a very natural relationship with Callie. Meanwhile, Alice lives her life exactly on her own terms as she raises her son along with her (awesome) Native American mother-in-law.
Godless is not an action-fest, although when things go down it's extremely satisfying. This is more of a measured story which lets things breathe. The cinematography is absolutely glorious and my jaw dropped at the staging of several scenes. I found it to the show's benefit that we spent so much time just taking things in as my attachment to the characters grew more and more. To give a specific example there's an episode in which a lot of time is spent with horses, and while it doesn't further the plot significantly, it pays off down the line and only allowed me to enjoy the experience all the more.
The cast are uniformly excellent, and it's easy to forget that three of the main characters are Brits. The writing is also of a high quality, and while this is not in the same league as the poetry and magnificence of Deadwood, it's very much going for a different vibe and doing its own thing. This feels more like an epic Western whereas the HBO show had a tighter focus on the comings and goings of the town it was set in.
That's not to say the show is perfect. I'm definitely not the first to notice, but there are a number of plot threads which are introduced but go absolutely nowhere. We meet characters like John Doe who have a mystery set up and then no more is given to us. We don't really get any huge revelations into Bill's past with his wife or situation, and what the Indian and his dog were all about. The (fantastic) German character Martha is only introduced at the very end. And we don't even get a proper explanation as to why Roy betrayed Frank in the first place. It definitely feels to me like there is plenty of room for a continuation, but this appears to be a one-off.
But I absolutely loved Godless. It manages to be incredibly satisfying despite its flaws, is one of the best looking shows you can watch right now and when it kicks off the thrills are absolutely glorious.
The Brits* conquer the west! Such a good limited series. My only expectation, as I began watching this series, was that it was a western and a friend had recommended it. All the movie posters were iconic silhouettes of the genre. But, my expectations (delight and appreciation) raised exponentially as the casting revealed itself, beginning with Sam Waterston (as the Marshal), then Michelle Dockery* (Alice), Tantoo Cardinal (Iyavl), Jack O'Connell* (Roy), Thomas Brodie-Sangster* (Whitey), Jeff Daniels (Frank) and finally Kim Coates sealed the deal. All the acting felt very authentic and appropriate and the imported* talent did well to speak American (although, I'm told, the Americans speaking Norwegian? Not so good). The storytelling was well executed, the production values high, the direction was solid (except someone forgot to do a body count in the last episode - of the 30 men at least 50 of them were shot dead) . I give this series an appreciative 9 (superb) out of 10. [Western] (In case you didn't catch it the * behind a name indicated British actors.)
Overall, I was very impressed with the way all the elements of the production came together and very effectively created an ever-present, brooding tension. Good performances by a very capable cast with the scenes between Julia Roberts and Stephan James being of particular note. Also, I believe Bobby Cannavale is very underappreciated (as was his recent series Vinyl) and his work in this show is solid, as is Shea Whigham's. Sam Esmail, of Mr. Robot fame, does some great things behind the camera – framing, lens choices, and camera movement – and makes some stylistic choices which create additional visual interest without being completely over the top – something he did quite well in the episodes of Mr. Robot he directed. Damned interesting story presented well on all fronts. I highly recommend it, but be forewarned, this is not a show for short attention span viewers. The pace is often slow and deliberate, which for me, just added to the tension and anxiety. As a psychological thriller, it’s supposed to be uncomfortable, and I felt it achieved this very effectively throughout.
Superb show. Mysterious, good looking, odd but brilliant music cues. Esmail is a huge talent. Shea Whigham also proved he has the acting chops when given the material.
The first two episodes were really good. I hope they are able to keep the momentum up. I'll withhold judgement until the season finale.
Ryan Eggold needs a good show right now. So i'm rootin' for him.
Definitely one of the better Hospital Shows. At least the Pilot suggests it.
I know that Freema Agyeman and Ryan Eggold are good Actors (Although I hated his Character in The Blacklist).
Janet Montgomery plays her Role as the ED-Doctor Laura bloom very well also.
So all in all a great cast, leaves to hope that the writers were able to keep it up after the Pilot.
We need a new great Show in a Hospital, now that Greys Anatomy is short of Flatlining and the start of the new The Resident Season was a bit weird (another hacker attack via Phone, really?!?).
i loooove the interaction between Tyler Labine and Anupam Kher. It is hillarious.
I'm not usually into musical type of shows but I cant get enough of this one.
Really amazing show, love all the songs.
This has a great premise and the possibility of being a great show, but if the Brits were doing it they'd make it spectacular and in 8 episodes or less. This is a typical American "how-can-we-drag-a-short-story-into-5-season-before-killing-it-unexpectedly” show waiting to happen. I want to love it, but it just drags on and on. 6/10
Update - someone put a bullet in the back of it's head... about 4 episodes too late. Painfull to watch the further along it went.
Wow, what a trainwreck. Didn't even realize this should have been NBC's next "big one", before reading some comments and reviews. At first I thought they might be cross-promoting something from Comcast's basic cable channels, like USA. But no, those shows tend to have far better casting and acting; and partially even writing. But good news for all Millennials: now you can join the NYPD, even if you're unqualified and unmotivated. My highlight is Daryl Edwards' portrayal of the smirky, resignated actor - um, sorry meant to write NSA Director - who perfectly delivers a very deep message in each scene, without even speaking: "Oh man, in what kind of a silly production have I ended up? I really need to speak with my agent... or consider a new representation. No, Daryl, no, don't start laughing hysterically mid-scene, 13 episodes still pay the mortgage, with a back-nine, you're really good."
In fact, this might be the single most important aspect of the whole production: Crew & Cast will make a few bucks off, of it. Otherwise it's extremely unoriginal, dull, generally very slow paced (don't explain intention before and after each scene), and almost painfully boring, thanks to acting and writing (sorry, you can't fix "everything" in post-production). Good luck, folks
The diversity in this cast just works. I did not think I would like it because I was not a fan of Ryan Eggold but I love him in this role.
Started of good, went downhill pretty quickly, had no empathy for any of the characters, wont be watching season 2
Track.tv’s rating doesn’t do justice to the show. If you have enjoyed Fargo, you will most probably enjoy at least its first season. It’s no Fargo but shares the characteristic darkness and the feeling that not even the screenwriters will make beyond the season’s finale while everything having sense of purpose within the story..
I would recommend to watch it to those Fargo fans waiting for a new season of the masterpiece, I don’t think they will be disappointed.
This series was uneven. I had a bit of a love hate relationship with it. I was annoyed with how it was written to be Canada but the writers obviously knew nothing about Canada, Canadians or our societal norms, which in turn put the premise, the relationships, the pivotable conflict with "big oil" and pretty much everything at risk. So my first struggle was to suspend disbelief and pretend it to be some foreign country that has all the physical majesty of Canada but is only coincidentally called Canada. The acting is tremendous. The pace is patchy and it's telling of episodes back to front drags things out and we can see the "twists" coming a mile away. The last episode of season 1 is absolutely redemptive. So, there you go, overall the episodes are 7 (good) and 6 (fair) but the last episode of season 1 is a 9 (superb), so I will settle my rating for the whole season being an 7.3 (great moments) out of 10. It has earned the second season a trial, at least. [Cop/Crime Drama]
What can you expect from a series with such a huge mistake in it's storyline? The Knights Templar entrusted with protecting ... the Holy Grail? Not even close. There is no historical connection between these two (unless you're Dan Brown). This is supposed to tell the true KT story. Historically it's worthless, but I'll be giving it a fiver for the nice costumes and medieval atmosphere.
Stop watching this show, it is racist two references tonight on this show against whites and I am offended. If white people said what the blacks say in this show the blacks would be up in arms. Stop the racism on shows !!!!!!
Best sports documentary series in my lifetime. Must see if you're into sports and docs. Even episodes I have no interest in the topic are entertaining. Good behind the scenes insight.
Denny Crane loves Alan Shore! Hope they live together to the end of the world!
What a couple, what a marriage... I am hoping for an extra season or episode of marriage stories, dramas and ups and downs...
This is a great legal dramedy and I love the character of Alan Shore, a personal favourite!
Denny Crane ;)
