Mia Goth playing Maxine and Pearl is just absolute insanity, and I am here for it.
"oh, bojack, no. there is no other side. this is it."
sex scene of the year, folks
The Matrix meets Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind…meets Ratatouille?
This is too tropey for an A24 horror film.
I don’t think it really succeeds in its mission of trying to be substantive and artsy, it’s too much in love with the established horror movie cliches in order to be that (e.g. bad jump scares, main characters with below average intelligence, an element of schlock and gore).
In its current form, I think it might benefit from a more fast paced studio treatment, thereby making it an efficient horror film that knows what it is.
However, then you’d also have to strip away most of the sex angle, which is what gives this film its own identity.
So I’m not exactly sure how you can improve this, though it’s also far from an awful film as is.
The characters are all pretty well developed, the acting is pretty solid, some good scares.
I wish the filmmaking was more interesting, though. There are some good shots in it, but overall most of it looks a bit uninspired and bland.
5/10
Very fun and CAMP. THE teen movie of 2020s (and tbf post Mean Girls), dare I say.
From an atheist point of view, the creepyness level is over 9000...
At worst a blatant self-congratulation without any real substance. A commercial at best.
We watched this slowly over about 3 weeks and by the end of it all, when the final credits rolled, it felt like parting from old friends that you knew you would never see again.
This whole epic was genius from start to finish. Loved it.
Obviously if you are into The Beatles this is a great watch as you get essentially a fly on the wall view of them bickering, goofing and creating legendary songs. In that same vein it works if you’ve ever been in these groups situations trying to creat something. A lot of the time is spent fucking around trying to find something, laughing, being silly, getting annoyed but then finding that moment as things come together. It really is amazing some of the things captured here as you see the kernel of an idea get built upon and become something. Great stuff!
cant believed i cried over a clay animation
Entertainingly bad... deserves either a 1 or a 10 depending on your point of view. Am going to split it down the middle and give it a 5. Fun to watch, and while obviously awful, there are films that cost millions of dollars more and are nearly as bad.. Rings, Pearl Harbour, Da Vinci Code, Norbit... and they don't have Troll 2's entertainment value. See the film and then check out the documentary Best Worst Movie which details the making of the film.
Well that was four wasted minutes.
That's what all religions are about
Jesus, that was horrible... the bloopers were better then the movie itself.
I guess this is it. This is as so-bad-it's-good-again as movies get.
Indoctrination at its finest, quite disturbing in some ways.
The pacing is slow but the topic is too important to ignore this doc. Just prepare yourself for some scary scary shit.
Horrifying. And I grew up in a world similar to this. I understand and sympathize with my parents feeling pressured to indoctrinate and "save" their children... Still, I am horrified.
I swear that Daniels have a direct line to whatever it is that I seek in movies. Long time since I laughed and cried so hard and all together at the movies (probably since swiss army man). Will have to watch more, of course... but WOW.
Saw it at the lone screening that is happening in my city, it was packed but, it's a bit of a bummer that more people won't catch this movie in theaters. Especially on IMAX. No matter...
I feel with this movies like Abbed's dad at the end of Community 1x02. Amazing and I REALLY can't wait to see what they do next!
Like eating adult cereal when you're a teen and sad there isn't a prize in the box.
I rarely give anything a 10/10, but how can I not when it comes to Peter Jackson’s «Get Back»?
Casual viewers are not the target audience here. This is, however, absolutely perfect for anyone who wants to be a fly on the wall while The Beatles are writing songs, rehearsing, discussing, kidding around, rewriting songs, smoking, arranging songs, reading newspapers, tuning instruments, looking back and planning ahead. Oh yeah, and they also perform a spectacular 42-minute gig on a London rooftop at the end.
I’ve been waiting for something like this since 1993 (when the first rumours about a remastered «Let It Be» movie surfaced) and I went in watching «Get Back» with sky-high – really absurd – expectations. «Get Back» not only fulfilled my expectations, but surpassed them. Jackson and his team have done a spectacular job! The series even has a happy ending!
Any bad parts, you ask? Well, the intro in the first episode has a few factual errors, f.ex. that John and Paul first met in 1956 (it was 1957) and that Ringo joined The Beatles before Brian Epstein became their manager (he didn't). It doesn't affect my 10/10, though, because... well, because the rest was so fantastic.
This is The Beatles as we have never seen them before. A splendid time is guaranteed for… some.
Its been a day since I watched it and Im still laughing.
