Mr. Robot: 4x09 409 Conflict

What this episode proves most of all is that the destruction of Elliot's father wasn't necessary at all and could have been dealt with in a completely different way.

@mansemat Yes, he is probably a visual personification of his father so that Elliot would remember his father in a good light, which helps to hide the traumatic memory. But he is also just a part of Elliot's persona, that was created by him as a coping mechanism for the trauma. Mr. Robot has none of Elliot's father's memories and we only have a limited understanding of what the father's personality was like, so Mr. Robot could be totally different from him.

This kind of thing can happen in real life too, caused by traumatic events, such as childhood abuse. People don't usually manifest split personalities just out of nowhere, there's often a very specific event that triggers mental illness. From what I've read, people that have experienced childhood abuse often bury the memories in their subconscious, and then suffer from depression etc. and don't really understand why they're having these mental problems.

Seems pretty realistic to me, not edgy. These kinds of things happen in real life a lot, and maybe you're uncomfortable thinking about it and resort to just calling it edgy, so that you wouldn't need to think about it seriously.

@mansemat Mr. Robot and Elliot's father aren't the same thing at all.

Blade Runner 2049

I think people who votes 8,9,10 don't watch sci-fi a lot. This movie is simply boring. Couldn't bare to finish it.

@areels Seems like you want scifi to be family friendly, funny and action packed... that's not really the point of scifi. Maybe if you had a longer attention span you would find slower scifi enjoayble.

This episode has it all, from small and forgivable mistakes such as randomly disappearing attack dogs to plot-breaking and totally unrealistic killing of characters who could have been interesting and worth keeping alive. It's clear now that the show's creators don't really understand the source material and they are now trying to improvise some fanfiction to hold their story together. They are trying too hard to add shock value by killing off characters who haven't really been developed enough for anybody to be shocked about their deaths. The episode's ending was also trying to go for shock value, but ended up quite random and unnecessary. Most actors and production values are still good as ever, but even those can't carry a flawed story.

To me the murders seem like a desperate move to gain more momentum for the Dorne storyline. It would have been more compelling if they had developed Doran's character to be more like he is in the books, since the sand snakes by themselves aren't that interesting, they're like your average saturday cartoon villains at this point with their "witty" cringey one-liners and all. Also my rating reflects the my disappointment in the recent seasons of the show. I loved season 1-2 so it hits extra hard to see the current state of this show, biggest waste of potential I've probably ever seen.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: 1x06 Part VI

I usually hate shouty, overly dramatic comments, but this show doesn’t qualify as a professional production IMO. I’ve never seen directing, writing and camerawork this amateurish in a major production.

@the_argentinian He's not wrong. There are fan films on youtube that are written and produced better than this show.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

While looking for the dragonballs Kylo Vegeta Ren finds the emperor and he reveals a clown car with 10 trillion death stars in it. Instead of conquering the galaxy the emperor chooses to just give it to Kylo as long as he kills Rey, because she is a sayan prince or something.
Meanwhile Rey is also looking for the dragonballs and to find a dragonball she needs a wooden stick that some guy made 10 days ago.
Luke and Lanpedo have been looking for this stick for 10 years, but Rey finds it after falling in a hole and helping a snake. She blows up 10.000 people with a kamehameha, but is sad because she lost her dog. Their robot needs to talk with an alien monkey on another planet because it can give him red eyes. Rey goes on Kylos ship to find her stick, kills a few hundred more people with a gun and finds her dog. Rey notices the stick looks like a death star so they go to the death star and find the dragonball. Vegeta comes and is killed by Rey because his mom calls his name. Rey brings him back to life because she wants to smooch and kills his mother. Kylo finds his sayan spirit and becomes a good guy (he only killed a few million people no big deal). Rey rams her ship into another planet for fun and finds another stick that points to the emperors clown car. The emporer wants to get whipped, by his granddaugther, because he is into that. Rey charges a spirit bomb with the power of her 10 trillion fans, but the emporer snaps his fingers and kills all her fans in 1 hit. Kylo comes to help Rey whip her granddad, but he slips and falls down a staircase. Rey grants her grandad's his dying wish, but because the she used the wrong whip they are both dead now. Kylo revives Rey, they smooch and he turns into a ghost. Also his mom now is a ghost. Rey uses the dragonballs to destroy 10 trillion death stars and become a dirt farmer with a different last name, because some ghosts nod their head. Somehow her 10 trillion fans are back alive, her dog gets a medal and Lanpedo starts an inappropriate relationship.

10/10

Game of Thrones: 6x01 The Red Woman

Pros
+Blind Arya was decent
+Brienne fight was pretty good

Ok Parts
*Meereen was okay, nothing that new but it didn't do anything wrong either
*the Cersei and Margaery scenes were just unnecessary, I guess the Margaery one might prove to be more meaningful as the season goes on but there really wasn't much there.
*The Melisandre "spoiler" isn't really a spoiler to book readers and really wouldn't be all that surprising even for those who didn't read. It doesn't change anything at all if you think about it. It just adds a bit of backstory to her.
*Other Night's Watch stuff was okay, Davos' actor takes a leading role as he should.

Cons
-Dorne went off the deep end, that part of the story is dead to me. They fucked it up beyond recognition.
-The Dothraki parts were just more surface level bullshit, it's not really surprising, we all know that it's not really going to result in her being in real danger and Danaerys is going to get freed by her dragon(s) it's just a bit of a time waster. The best we can hope for is that she is either humbled by the experience or driven off the edge of sanity like many of her ancestors and we get crazy Dany running around for a season or two before Bran pacifies her.
-This episode was supposed to be the Kingsmoot

to elaborate a bit more, the Sand Snakes would've been killed immediately when trying such an idiotic move and the confirmation that Quentyn does not exist in the show (nor does Doran's plan to bring back Dany with the Golden Company at her side) makes Doran a non-issue rather than a long game planner who legitimately has a chance at grabbing significant power. Why the fuck would they cut such an important player out of the game? it makes no sense. Using the Sand Snakes makes even less sense, you can't tell me that Dorne is going to even consider following them after the series of idiotic decisions they've made. The reason why it is frustrating that this episode was not "kingsmoot" is because the Kingsmoot was the best part of the books in my opinion. it holds the best in ASOIAF banter/dialogue, it holds political consequences that you really cannot accurately calculate at the time, and it is a huge turning point where we go from Lannister/Tyrells dominating with chaos in Dorne and the North to another big contender entering the competition. There's still some hope that Euron and Victarion will enter the series but it gets more and more doubtful the further they push them back and it's almost confirmed now that Quentyn, Aegon, and the Golden Company are cut from the show.

At least someone else on this site gets it. I don't understand how people can watch this show and praise it in its current state.
