Won't the security guards' bosses be kinda confused as to why there are bullet holes in the ceiling? Also presumably there are video cameras… I mean they could have just figured out something a little less stupid, just saying.

Wait why would Titan just de facto become the boss after all that?

loading replies

@slimyboi Titan had already made a deal with Isotope. Not sure why Isotope didn't want to become the boss on his own. Maybe we will find out.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: 1x01 Strange New Worlds

Another series Plagued with feminist crap, I couldn’t even suffer through two episodes without fast forwarding through 90% of it it’s just typical California Hollywood progressive crap.

loading replies

@krazy1969 I imagine someone was saying something similar about the original series back in the late 60s with the multicultural crew and looked how that turned out ... 56 years later.

Star Wars: Andor: 1x01 Kassa

That wasn't bad. I still think the lead is dull as dishwater and the show suffers from prequelitis since we know nothing bad can happen to him. I feel sorry for that cop though. Another smart white man trapped in an office full of useless diversity hires.

Dude, you work at dollar store. You realize that character is going to turn out to be the Hitler of the show. You know how to pick them I guess.

IS IT MY FAVOURITE EPISODE SO FAR? IT'S MY FAVOURITE EPISODE SO FAR.

After being grounded by her mum, Hilda discovers her neighbour mysteriously disappears and reappears in the blink of an eye.

This episode was a thrilling time travel tale about regret, reminiscing on what could've been and the consequences of your actions. Because GOD DAMN, HILDA DIED TWICE. Speechless noises. It was just so sudden, distressing yet heartfelt. You can see Hilda means well, but since she doesn't think it through, it all goes to hell. I mean, and I can't stress this enough, she got herself killed, twice, as well as several versions of Mr Ostenfeld, as well as Tildy! This episode has so much death!

I like how they imbued the episode's themes with the other two characters, and it was exciting to see Trolberg back in the 20s? No, the themes & premise aren't anything new, but the way the episode presented them struck a chord with me. Bella Ramsey gives another charming performance, and Rasmus Hardiker's Alfur is just as endearing. Seeing the contrast of second-trip Hilda and the third one, hardened and bitter by time, was heartbreaking; I won't forget her sacrifice.

Hilda: "And all things considered, it didn't work out too badly."
Alfur: "We saw our selves die... twice!"

It's heartwarming, tragic and powerful. I've no issues with this episode, and I think it encapsulates what I love about Hilda so much. This episode is beautiful in every sense of the word.

TECHNICAL SCORE: 8.5/10
ENJOYMENT SCORE: 9/10

@clobby-clobsters I agree. This was my favorite episode so far as well but bittersweet because the two got to be together only to have their existence erased.

X-Men: The Animated Series: 3x07 The Phoenix Saga: Child of Light (5)

Heads up gang. Onwards from this point you should ignore the episode order on trakt and Disney plus (if watching on there) as the air order and listings are incorrect to the actual scripts. If you Google for the correct watch order there's a good 4 eps between this and the savage land double. The pacing and events make far more sense if watching those first. Esp with 'No Mutant is an Island' being next.

@reiko_lj Thanks for the heads up Bub.

Almost a podcast on film, The Vast of Night is a gripping thriller with some of the most captivating scenes and style this year. Absolutely stellar work from Patterson, along with some awe inspiring long takes from both Sierra McCormick and Jake Horowitz (the switchboard scene and Mabels interview are some phenomenal cinema). Great work.

@xiofire Thats a great point. I think would have enjoyed this movie more as an audio drama.

Oh, c'mooon! So far I like this show, but why the fuck does everyone have to cheat??? First Geoff (although we didn't know he had a boyfriend at the time .. and I guess they could be in an open relationship? but that's not stated, so ugh) and then Fred. Come the fuck on.

Also, whyyy would you tell Madison, Cathy. Noooo.

loading replies

@riotaero I agree. The cheating things was gross and done so effortlessly. Why?

Pre Vizsla is voiced by Jon Favreau in the episode where the dark saber and Mandalore are introduced for the first time...this was a decade before The Mandalorian...and the mysterious ways of the Force were already set in motion...

@goonie Nice job connecting those dots. Its great to see where the seeds of The Mandalorian planted.

I know Hilda meant well, but she should've read the footnote. There was no reason for her to be in a rush!

I like this episode, it's good, but it has so much potential and could've used a few tweaks to improve it. For one, foreshadowing for the footnote would've been useful. There is no indication that there would be side-effects or that Hilda should've read some footnote. And two, that enchantment is kind of useless. It gives them good luck for thirty days but then steals their souls. What's the point of that enchantment? And what do you do with your friends' souls, anyway? Also, that autotune on David was a bit weird.

But I like what they tried to explore in this episode. Alfur is fantastic and helpful, as always. And they gave Frida a reason to be there, which is nice. It was such a simple story, but it works.

7/10

Maybe I’m wrong but I think the spell gives them permanent good luck but they lose their souls in the process. I think the 30 days is basically a chicken out clause.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off: 1x03 Ramona Rents a Video

….. this was a perfect episode of television??????? Opening the episode with Young Neil’s screenplay is always funny because like haha creative process but also like it’s ACTUALLY funny it is actually relatable + even if it wasn’t the stylish screenplay setting was enough to offset the usual “idk how to creative” jokes. Him wanting to write the screenplay because he realizes life is short because Scott died?? Like how was this stuff not the original source material it is PERFECT!!!! PERFECT!!!! And that doesn’t even include… like…. The entire rest of the episode? That’s just the cold open! Ramona going on a murder mystery quest to find out who kidnapped Scott and why and using that to heal with her exs? I do not understand how anyone could be mad at this. This is actually great. Fantastic. Scott and Ramona’s first conversation foreshadowing what was going to happen? Is this perfection??? Scott talking about two versions of the same character (sonic) foreshadowing that he isn’t the same version as the movie version and Ramona foreshadowing that she’ll become Columbo?? Okay… maybe this is…. Amazing.
Just the nonchalant casual conversations at the cafe and the video store. It really does feel like 20somethings. As a 20somethings, I love it.
That doesn’t even include Roxy and Ramona’s cross genre fight! Using the video store as a setting to just go all the way with the visuals and setting???? This is exactly what I wanted the ending of WandaVision to be!! They said it couldn’t be done!! I’m starting to get why people like this franchise so much. Ramona and Roxy talking out their problems at the end??? Roxy yearning and it just feels so much more than two people hate each other because they are exes. Like it is crazy how much better it is when you give the characters just tiny moments of breathing room instead of shoving all 7 of them in a movie. Plus it was really pretty. The fire alarm going off so it’s all rainy… INSIDE the video store? Okay aesthetic I see you!! Roxy and Ramona just laying around by all the video tapes? Ughhh I love it so much actually??? Roxy asking Ramona if she’s interested in being anything. Roxy and Julie just messing around seeing if anything happens. No weirdness surrounding it? It really does feel, as I said earlier, like a bunch of 20somethings experimenting. I love it. Then later turning Gideon/Gordon into a tragic underdog???? Okay???? How is this so good how am I loving every decision they make here…. Woooowie Wowie. And all this without Scott?? Huh???? I’m loving it….
OH YEAH the Kim and Knives scene where they jam out??? Pretty music moment??? Yay!!! AND TEGAN AND SARA IN THE CREDITS?? They heard me say it was a perfect episode of tv and decided to upstage even that. We love messy gay relationships.

Great review. I loved the Kim and Knives rock out because Kim actually smiles.
