Overall I think the season was ok. It was too formulaic and they tried to mimic the first movie way too much. Add to that cardboard acting/bad script and unlikable characters and you have a meh season. Some episodes were better than others but very low kill count for a series. If the writers need to know how to do a serial killer tv show, they should watch Harper's Island for inspiration.
There's no denying that this season has seen a downturn in the quality of writing. Characters are not acting like themselves and making choices which don't reflect the journeys they've been on. Ridiculous leaps in logic are made and time compression has suddenly made Westeros feel very small. Spectacle has taken centre stage and it feels like the lack of GRRM's own prose has left the show's writers floundering.
And I've got to be honest, it hasn't bothered me all that much, because it's been so incredibly fun. Say what you will, but season 7 has not been dull for a second. Yes, I've found parts frustrating and rolled my eyes in disbelief at the stupidity on display, but there's something to be said for the pure thrill involved in what's going on screen.
I might prefer things to be slowed down a bit and do miss the insightful dialogue and foreshadowing, but I'm not throwing my toys out of the pram over it as so many seem to be. Even in this state, Game of Thrones remains among the best programmes on television. The finale did make up for some of the seemingly moronic writing choices made in earlier episodes and demonstrated that it can still make me care for these characters and fear losing them.
Not perfect and not up to standard, no, but some of the most enjoyable viewing I've had this year.
This show was interesting... it has some good moments and some really stupid ones. Like the girls screaming about the rats and frogs in the beginning it kinda sets the mood wrong. Nonetheless enjoyable ride but was kinda dragged out halfway through wish it was a bit shorter. Still worth a watch if you like murder mysteries like Saw movies or Danganronpa i guess is my best suggestions atm
It's astonishing to know that even with so many outlets for TV production, including the vaunted Netflix algorithm that seems to know what viewers want before they even want it, it took frigging Seth MacFarlane to give us this terrific piece of TNG fanfic. I can't believe that I almost let this show slip past me.
Loved the first three seasons but this season just didn't work for me. Every time the show started to play out as horror, it fizzled just as quickly as it began ultimately turning into a drama (and a depressing one at that). This season was pretty boring and definitely not horror (I've seen more horrific episodes on Criminal Minds). Characters were good, and I like the returning actors but again...not a horror story in the least.
Really enjoyed the first episodes of this season, but it quickly lost the plot... I thought the ending was a "easy" and was expecting more than this.
Bring on season 2! This was great. Who would have thought that we would ever get back our old Star Trek adventurers.
WOW!! I love love love the new master. He is so deliciously evil, psychotic, insane and annoying. I am however still on the fence about how they are changing up the entire back-story of the Doctor - however it would explain a lot and lets the stories go in even more new and different directions.
Really loved this season and the addition of the guy playing michael, who did a fantastic job selling all sides of his character. I enjoyed the flashbacks and web of interconnections to other seasons and some of the obscurer ones to discover really blew my mind.
This is the worst season of True Detective. First two were 10 out of 10 for me, but this one...
I can say only 1 thing: if you have trouble sleeping - this season (any episode) will resolve it immediately.
Just watch first episode and last one, you won't miss a thing.
This season isn't the best yet, but it was still a lot of fun. I have 2 main issues with it, each removing a point from my score.
I thought that the survival game dragged on too long and I was ready for it to end long before it actually did. Also there is some weird race stuff towards the end with the Native-American inspired Shandian people that pushes a "white savior" idea while portraying them as savage beasts. Obviously, I don't think Oda is racist, but the Shandian history was in pretty poor taste.
As for what I liked, the Luffy vs. Eneru battles were a blast, and the mysteries were thought out pretty well. One Piece is really good at making threats feel real, and this season is no exception. Not perfect by any means, but still the One Piece I know and love.
G8: Absolutely phenomenal. Super interesting setup, great arc in general.
Long Ring Long Land: Admittedly slow, but I now get why some people watch sports.
Oceans Dream: Great idea, really good execution, but can be skipped because it ends up being completely ignored
Foxy's Return: Really short, so nothing too amazing or too awful
