The cinematography is great and dancing all looked fantastic. The score was amazing. The editing and sound design were great. It does a good job of creeping you out. A slow burn until the bat shit crazy third act. I need to see it again to even try and begin to understand what happened but I think I loved it.
I was excited because I loved Cloverfield! But this cliche filled movie was just terrible.
Except from saying the word "Cloverfield" a few times, There is nothing "Cloverfield" about this movie.

Anyone else feel the movie suffered from a bit of "unfulfilled potential" in not really closing the full circle of its plot?
That was a lot better than I was expecting. The trailer didn't do it enough justice. I knew I'd enjoy it based off the trailer. But now that I've watched it, the trailer seems like it could've been a whole lot better. I feel like this movie will one of those movies that I enjoyed very much and the majority will nitpick at, and that's completely fine. I totally wasn't expecting what I'd call a twist, not completely sure if others will feel the same way, near the end of the movie. And the acting in that scene, after the twist was revealed, was fantastic. From both Mads Mikkelsen and Vanessa Hudgens. Especially hers. I was a bit surprised on how different she looks in real life as opposed to her appearance in the movie. She looks like a completely different person compared to her character. I actually think how she looked in the movie was more attractive than she is in real life, not that she isn't attractive outside of this movie. Anyway, I hope there will be a second movie as the ending did suggest the possibility.
This movie is really dumb. In the opening moments of the film they set up that the brothel is all an imagined reality, and everything that happens there had no meaning. We then spend the entire movie in this space, except for a few moments when the main character dances and enraptures everyone somehow (I have no idea what this translates to in the asylum). These moments look cool, but again they hold even less meaning to what is happening. So then at the end of the movie they reveal that it was an asylum the entire time and we are meant to be shocked by this, even though the movie told us at the beginning. None of the story is interesting or makes any sense or holds any meaning. The only good parts of the movie are the ridiculously stylistic action scenes, however they are only mildly amusing. This movie was a big disappointment, as I was expecting mind bendy reality dream like story telling but I only got a meaningless drivel with over the top action scenes connecting them.
It pains me to give this movie such a poor grade because it really is so well done. Zack Snyder has such a firm grasp on his look, he's carved out his own genre of movie. He's also proved that a movie cannot survive on looks alone.
Well, I liked it...I´m not a fan of the comics and all that stuff, but it was a really entertaining, interesting cool movie... I´m so gonna get the bluray, I did not feel it overacted or boring at all, and I hope there´s a part 2.
The writing of the first act alone and the confusion over the protagonist was magnificent to me. I had an absolute blast in the theater with this one.
This movie would have been good if they'd explained anything. Like anything whatsoever. Alas, they do not.

The only scary part of this movie was the amount of boredness that it brought me.

The best new Star Wars film in three decades and one of the most satisfying films of the year.
I saw an early release of this in a theatre, yesterday. The art work is amazing. The attention to all the history of the canon was admirable and the imagination of what could be was unmatched. BUT it was chaotic, so much happening at once, dialogue cascading over other dialogue, images flashing by so rapidly there could be little appreciation of the panoramic art and world building. It all became a blur. The worse sin in my eyes was that there was never a clear direction for the primary story arc. All the little origin stories that were included interrupted the basic story (was there really one?), so much so that when they returned to the narrative they repeatedly had the repeat the salient points of the narrative in a lot of mini-synopses. And the final insult was that it was TO BE CONTINUED. This movie needed a narrative edit and a completed story line. The chaos made the action cheap and at times boring. I give this film a 5 (meh) out of 10. [Marvel Superhero Action Adventure]

I was expecting more. I love Ethan Hawke and his performance was really good. I just felt there was not a whole lot of substance to the film. Still, a decent horror movie.
Like an NFT of a classic musical: it was technically well-made and looked really good but I got no emotion from it.
These kinds of movies definitely weren't made for me. I simply cannot keep up with how fast and "old" they talk. Poetry is not for me.
I think I got the gist of it, but that's not enough to come up with a reasonable score, so it stays scoreless. I'll probably not watch it again.

Like eating the right amount of your favorite candy, Godzilla vs Kong is a visual sugar rush that will keep you buzzing for hours.
Where Godzilla (2014) dragged in places and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) was all adrenalin with nothing to grasp, Godzilla vs Kong is a perfect popcorn and Coke movie with the sweet action and the savory visuals. The right length, some gorgeous cinematography, flawless CGI, a perfect balance between action and story, Godzilla vs Kong is the best movie in the monsterverse and caps off the franchise gloriously.
It's not art, but that's OK, I didn't need it to be.

Every time it's over I feel like I got punched in the fucking heart. And I basically start counting days till I'll be ready to watch it again. There will never be movies more soulful, profound, engaging and gripping with everything from fights and visuals to the deep meaningful connections between the characters and the explorations of grant purposes and philosophical differences. Never. I will love this eternally. I wish I could rate it more than ten. There are movies and then there's Lotr. To be honest I have no fitting words to describe this, no funny remarks or beautiful epithets and definitely no slights. I'm just thankful this exists and I got to experience watching it. I'm out.
I liked it, it was really over my low expectations, Kristen Stewart it's great, the story feels good, it's short like Every action movie should be. Nothing new, not the best but it's really enjoyable.
I'm a long-time fan of Chelsea and it's great that she's making more documentaries as I enjoyed her previous Netflix docu-series. That said, I felt this one was a little bit superficial and probably would have benefitted from being either a mini-series or at least a longer running time. Still worth a watch, though.
