Ok, so who besides me has never watched any of the animated Trek series? (looks around, no other hands raised...) Ok, so just me. Looks like I've got some homework to do.
For a minute there I thought I downloaded the wrong show. :joy:
I simply cannot stand such singing stuff. Totally throws me out of the universe.
Ack! that was actually painful. An hour long episode that took only 10 mins to watch after skipping all the singing. Horrible episode.
musical episodes are the worst type of episode and you cannot change my mind
And in one episode SNW gives a more satisfying flash back to the Klingon war than Discovery hobbled together in a whole season and to top it off they top give us Clint Howard in a Starfleet badge. Oh Strange New Worlds you are spoiling us.
Refreshing. Genuinely delighted people at CBS/ Paramount that can deliver the goods. Not only does it continue to provide something for the fans but easy in for casual viewer after some top tier TV.
Nice use of the Bussard collectors!!
As a casual Trek watcher, even I get a kick out of that TOS meeting at the end, and I loved that they keep it casual instead of making it among episode's big plot moments.
This was another, obviously, amazing episode. It’s like they can’t do anything wrong!
And I can’t believe that Gooding (Uhurua) is only 23. She is an amazing actor and act with such confidence and experience.
And that final scene and handshake had me giddy as a… Trekkie! :vulcan_salute:
The fact we see other silos is nuts! How can they be that close and not know. I am guessing the big doors in the deep lead to the other silos. This is crazy, and fun.
To anybody asking themselves "why display the green environment, even if just for the few moments before they die":
Well, so they'd clean the lens of course. A simple and cheap trick so nobody unpunished has to go outside to do so...
By far, IMO the best episode of this ST:SNW yet. The dynamic between "other world Kirk" and La'an was wonderful. Great story and "lets go back in time to stop something from happening in the future" Segway's are always fun.
The camera close up on the watch she brought back from the past is obviously setting up a plot point for something upcoming - wonder where that one will come back to bite.
Overall, best episode yet!
OMG... this had the feel of TOS... down to the music... I highly recommend this episode.
This episode made me fall in love with La’An Noonien-Singh. Great acting by Christina Chong, in a brilliantly written episode.
Maybe close the secret tunnel door in the uSA side geesh
J.K. Simmons (and the lovely Sissy Spacek) back in the smaller screen with an emotional banger? My tears are ready!
Oh, and to those of you who still got grandparents around (lucid, senile, or otherwise), go give them a hug after watching this. I know I would, if I could.
I liked this episode. This builds on lore about Khan from the wrath of khan, and on the temporal war, which is mention in enterprise and discovery. At some point we will need to see this two massive events, but I like how this episode builds on the lore.
Time travel to a contemporary setting is one of the oldest tricks in the Star Trek playbook and I’ll be damned if it doesn’t still work like a charm. Very fun to get to see the newest Kirk portrayer really get to play with the character, and possibly the best character performance we’ve had from Christina Chong as La’an.
It's insane how amazing the first three episodes of this second season has been. Again with an interesting classic twist and with some great acting, especially from Christina Chong. These character driven episode really is Star Trek for me. To bad there is only 7 episodes left of this season.
I was skeptical after reading the other comments, but it is indeed, the worst season of the show and by far.
Worst of all! Don't bother watching...
So BM went in a totally new direction. Too bad. Episode 1 was the best. The rest seem to have been written by AI. Predictable and not engaging at all. Dark (badly lit). Boring. What gives?
You want some good fantasy/horror? Try African Folktales. Much better imo.
Cheers!
Finally an episode that has tension throughout and feels like the story is moving forward. With only an episode left, would have been quite disappointing if it didn't start to pick up.
The penultimate episode ties together the threads sewn throughout season one setting up a tense platform for the finale.
Glad to see season 2 has been green lit already. I’m ready to rank this season now. I think it’s the best tv series of 2023 so far.
This episode continues to maintain the high bar set by episode 1. Good writing and wonderful performances, without a single phaser blast being fired.
This episode just shows that you don't need action, just well performed dialog. I had a few moments that just had me on the brink of tears, but the "feels" were real. I love this series.
Other than the first episode, rest of them didn't feel like "Black Mirror". Episode 3 was very good story and little bit of the mood. Rest of the episodes are barely passable.
This isn't Black Mirror.
