One of the best kdramas of 2023. It's so satisfying to watch bad guys get beaten up and see victims feel some peace....
Hell Yeah! DC are finally having a little fun on the screen. Good action, laughs and a little drama. I have now made peace with them.
Yes, yes, yes this is what the super hero genre needs. Fresh but gritty thanks to the R+18. Hooked after 1 episode. Keep up the heroics Amazon.
What a way to end the season. I'm really looking forward to 2nd season. overall a much better show that everything else that is there by Bollywood Web Series.....
I have a feeling that kid... I think he's gonna die:skull:. As usual, great acting from Aditya.... And Shaan saying "I won't be as cute as Loki". I think it's a homage to og The Night Manager's Tom Hiddleston:fire:
Another great episode... Really liked the Aditya Kapoor's acting
This is bloody brilliant :fire: :fire:.... I didn't expect this from a Indian series with Bollywood actors... Episode 1 was lit...Looking forward to upcoming episodes
A revenge story with.. a fly as a protagonist! Sounds weird? it is! But at the same time it's probably the funniest movie released in 2012. It is ultimately immoral, has cheesy scenes and acting, might be a bit long and has the dance scenes you would expect from an indian movie but will you ever see a fly covered in blood again? Not anytime soon. (It is more lighthearted than it sounds :))
Impressed with the fact how this episode wrapped everything up. It had so many emotions and intensity at the same time... This is very intriguing; it sends a clear message about society, to teenagers, and the youth.
A perfectly-paced story about flawed 19-year olds finding out what it means to have people around
I didn't really know this drama would be so short, The pace keeps up during the third episode (ep. 5-6) and after that it resolves the conflict rather quickly. For a drama with this length, it's impressive how they fit their focus and tried to explore various factors of friendship, solidly shown in the second half of episode 4 (ep. 8). It also gave me Park Chan Hong and Oh Donhyuk, two seemingly different individuals who grows together in an unlikely but rather fateful relationship. What makes this drama wonderful is how openly flawed its characters are, considering they are all 19-year old that, despite no one completely being a loner, doesn't seem to perfectly define what friendship truly is. Throughout the story, Park Chan-hong, who gets inconveniently involved in the events following the suicide of a girl, learns to find people (who, unlike him, shares a connection to the dead student) swallowed by guilt. He becomes an impromptu ally and partakes in uncovering the mysteries surrounding the girl's death. Throughout the story, he finds growth and talent in himself, using these discoveries to propel the story forward and ultimately become the key factor in solving their problems.
The drama doesn't excuse bad behaviour but at the same time it shows that one can break free from it as long as they know the importance of a sincere apology and personally develop the will to change for the better. Moreover, it tries to explore ways by which isolation and jealousy can negatively impact self-esteem and cause harm not only to oneself, but also to others. Overall, it teaches its viewers to be more sensitive to the people around them. It's not the best drama out there, but considering its length, it clearly and effectively painted a clear picture of not exactly what friendship is, but how loosely-defined friendships can be when we only think of ourselves. If you want fresh takes on friendship stories (and a teensy-bit romance) without focusing on just the "sunshines and rainbows" part, watch this.
PS:Park Chan Hong is now definitely added to my list of all-time favorite characters.
"Goeun... will you marry me?" This is going to be epic :blue_heart::blue_heart::blue_heart::blue_heart::blue_heart:
The secret organisation is plotting something against our boys. I can sense it:thinking::thinking:
Another banger episode. The scene with that crazy lady got me wheezing:joy::joy::joy::sob:
We are back babyyy:blue_heart::blue_heart::blue_heart:. Let's get Revenge.....
A very good example of what Bollywood can do outside of its usual norms. A mix of folklore, horror, thriller and historical movie.
Vinayak grows up in a manor where a fabled treasure is hidden, though nobody found it. Coming back as an adult he finds it. However he seems to go back and forth between the city and the manor and only brings back a few gold coins at a time. The main story and mystery part focuses on how he's getting his gold coins. And the reveal of the whole ritual is amazing.
Get at the bottom of the well in the manor's courtyard. There's a corridor with another fortified well at the end. There you enter the goddess' womb. Get down there, draw a protective salt circle. Bring a doll made of flour. As soon as the doll is revealed, Hastar appears. He can't get into the circle, which is great because a simple touch will change you into an undead. Give him the doll, and while he's eating it, quickly spill some coins from his satch and pick them up, but remember, no touching. Then get the hell out of here before he's finished.
The whole movie looks really good. The light work and almost constant rain creates a great gloomy mood. But the womb part... just amazing. It's just the right mix of creepy, disgusting, fantastic and realistic. It fits perfectly. Not only the decor but also Hastar himself.
The rest of the story, with his wife, his kid, his mistress, the opium dealer trying to find the secret are basically fillers here, but it's short and diverse enough to make it an interesting complement to the story and not be annoying. This actualy creates a different focus on the womb sequeces, it's a great choice. The relationship with his kid is weird though. You're not really sure if he's useless and Vinayak is going to sacrifice him, or if the kid will try to take his father's place or whether he will just fuck it up.
The final part, when the kids suggests to steal the satchel instead of a few coins, feels a lot like it's going a goose that laid golden eggs way and ends up totally different where every doll they bring generates an instance of Hastar. That's one of the best twist I've seen in a while. Not only is it surprising and interesting but it doesn't disrupt what we already know, it doesn't come out of nowhere and actually feels quite logical. After all, Hastar only appears when you show a doll, and there's nothng telling that it's the same Hastar every time you get in the womb. After all the satchel is not limitless, maybe it would have emptied by then..
That's also a strength of the movie. Despite being obviously fantastic, the whole thing is actually coherent and makes sense. Every thing that is done to get the gold has its explanation, as well as the weird monster grandmother, up until the final twist.
This is a great, original, masterfully directed and shot story. Incredible for a first film. I'm eagerly waiting for his next ones.
CCFART:joy::joy::joy:. Leaving this aside, this episode was good. It kept me on edge the whole time
Went and saw this today and its a great addition to the Alien franchise
Another force fed movie from Netflix. Their "Top 10" list is merely a way to push their movies or movies they didn't significant cash to retain. No actual metrics.
The plot is amateur, the execution is even worse. Makes for a boring movie. And a waste of time to watch.
Great show with superb storyline and production. It's a must watch for spy-thriller lovers....
Oh Ji Soo is very frustrating and "slow" with his decisions, it's annoying but that's the point of the show. The actor did a good job to display that point. The series highlights a very important issue in nowadays society and teengaers' communities. It starts kind of light hearted with little tension. However, with each episode the mood grows more complex and definitely darker. The last few minutes of the last episode were hugely thought provoking, especially. I recommend this show, it is not bad at all.
Only 2 episodes remaining. It's gonna be so lonely here
10/10 I cried manly tears
Despite being a really well-acted and a moving story, it was actually kinda hard to watch; I had to take breaks every so often while watching it, in part because of the cringe-inducing awkwardness of it all, in a good way. It's really well-made though and I'm impressed that it was actually directed by the author of the novel, everything goes together nicely. Great coming-of-age story, I'd thoroughly recommend it.
So THIS is what Indian films would look like without being shackled by commercialism and formulas? I’m so proud to see this. You always think will people from your homeland ever make anything as good as Koreans and other countries. I’m glad to say they most definitely can. I’m very happy to see such beautiful visuals, fantastically executed horror fantasy which is rooted in India. Excellent! Jai Ho!
In the end they should have married someone else. But everyone enjoys a HEA.
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey have a damn good chemistry on screen. My favorite episode so far
I get the appeal of this movie. After the first 30 minutes I was afraid it was going to be another Indian action movie with over the top scenes and terrible story and acting.
However, the story turned out to be really good. The screenplay was clearly the best part of the movie. The acting by the main cast was pretty decent. Caveat: I did watch the Hindi dub. I wish Netflix had the audio in the original language. I could only watch either thr Hindi or English dub.
The biggest flaw with the movie is the over-the-top action. If you have ever seen a Bollywood movie, you know what it's like. Imo they should have toned it down a bit.
Overall an enjoyable movie with some obvious flaws.
8/10
“RRR” is basically a bromance historical drama where people rescue other people. It’s the apotheosis of kitsch under any possible aspect, yet its three hours felt like fifteen minutes. The secret is that even the most absurd action sequences and silly moments are emotionally driven story beats; everything is there for a purpose. Mandatory to watch in a movie theater, possibly in IMAX, as a unique multisensory experience.
Although this felt like an easy 10/10 right after going out of the movie theater, I have to revise my rating due to the overblown nationalism, the terrible English cast, and the fact that despite the ridiculously over-the-top action sequences and the chains of explosions, nothing really managed to top the climax already reached during the first half with the Nathu Nathu dance and Malli's rescue mission.
This movie is better than most Hollywood movies in recent years.
Three hours and five minutes of pure insanity. That's how the Indian epic "RRR" could be described. I can absolutely relate to the reports of cheering, screaming, and dancing crowds in theaters. Everything is way over the top—action, drama, pathos, slow motion, explosions, CGI animals, dances, and the booming soundtrack—and yet it's just perfect as it is. "RRR" is pure fun. The long runtime is no problem at all. The film goes by in a flash. That's partly due to the fact that everything is so refreshingly different from Hollywood productions. I'm not really familiar with the Indian film industry, but this movie is definitely something special.
I can only advise everyone to give "RRR" a chance. Any skepticism should have vanished by the time the two protagonists meet for the first time in a totally insane sequence. Later, when they start dancing to the hit song "Naatu Naatu", things really get going. And the action doesn't let up afterwards. The finale was then so spectacular that it almost left me speechless. If you can overlook the somewhat questionable morals of the story, the exaggerated nationalism, and the laughably one-dimensional villains, you should definitely watch "RRR".
[Netflix] With an evident visual exuberance, there is a use of the elements of fire, water and earth as the center of a nationalist spirit that prevails due to its connection with nature. Which is an interesting insight into the roots of identity, albeit against caricatured antagonistic characters, representatives of a crumbling empire. Here S.S. Rajamouli opts for the construction of his own mythology that turns the heroes into superheroes, which is fine as a commercial option but he cannot avoid falling into some ridiculous situations, although at least the musical numbers are introduced with a sense of humor.
