Starts off amazing for first 5 eps. When Ali died, the show lost its way a little. I’m also not sure point of the body organ subplot. Didn’t really lead to anything.
I’d also have rearranged the final scenes: have G sad and despondent, but also let him do charity stuff for Sang Woo’s mum etc. THEN let him not touch his own money for a year, as that still conveys his guilt and hopelessness. It still works. Otherwise, Seems bit weird and pathetic in order we got it in on the show. I get he was sad that his mom died, but bumming around for a year after seems quite a leap.
Lastly, did they really fly in the VIPS just to watch two games? A cool bridge one, and then what’s basically a cheap playground game of hopscotch? I think they should have come in earlier on the show.
Keeping the feminine looking character animation aside, this was a great anime. The story does have some plot holes but the best part was how the entire concept unfolded without rushing for the completion.
The main character didn't became the best magically like in other anime(s) which kept the realistic attribute of the story intact.
This show was definitely a bit underrated but I will still recommend others to watch it.
It was a decent "Slice of Life" with nothing extraordinary. I won't recommend anyone to watch if they have other better anime(s) on the list.
Damn I hate this show yet I continue to watch it. It's not even funny nor is it thought provoking. I mean, if your a rich single parent family where Mom barely has to work and can jet set around to fabricate drama then maybe you can connect. I dunno.
This show is insane! haha I love it!
[spoiler]This show is dumb as ****. Bodies are dropping everywhere and they are kids and like four kids in the same school got murdered and brutally but they still have school and the main character who is obviously the center of it all is not under constant police surveillance. This is the dumbest show I've ever watched
Scream tries to rescue all that suspense from the golden age teen horror movies, but fails miserably, with a super predictable script that in the first episodes scrubs in the face the identity of the killer (indirectly), soon after you already know who Is the Serial Killer series still tries to create a whole mystery between the characters (this you already knowing who the killer is). Taking the (friendly) relationship between Audrey and Noah, the rest of the characters do not have a good chemistry, the relationship between them is painless, as are the dialogues and performances (which are worse than Kristen Stewart's in that movie you already Knows), and to complete, all the characters are underdeveloped and linear, without even a shallow depth, not to mention that they are super stereotyped, like: Emma is the exemplary girl, Audrey the lesbian rebel, Noah is the nerd knows everything, Kieran Is the heartthrob, Brooke is the bitch and Gustavo is the class asshole! Spare me, the series is so clichéd and predictable and with such a disappointing ending it leaves Lost in the slipper!
Interesting premise, but fell a bit flat for me. I'm sure it has it's audience though.
It's ok for a live-action remake if you don't expect it to be good. Since the live-action is not proper to its original, I guess this is an alternative. The fight scenes are a bit off, the dialogue between characters is wacky, the casting is a bit of a problem for Faye and Jet but casting "John Cho" was a perfect idea, and the art and the special effects are outstanding at best. There are some problems with the alternative cowboy bebop through with the theme of it. The original was darker and more depressing than the live-action. The anime consists of loneliness, corruption, destruction, and most parts relating to the modern aspect in 1998. While the live-action version is more child-friendly with the bebop crew being less aggressive and plays the bounty game like "Hungry Hungry Hippo." idk why Julia is introduced too soon into the series.
live-action series is a bad idea. idk why people still do it. I think it will actually be better using CGI like "The Adventures of Tintin" or 3DCG like "Lupin III: The First."
What the hell are you guys talking about? The show is a great time. It's not taking itself too seriously and it's poking fun at all the horror movie cliches. Good job Ryan Murphy. You've done it again!
Modern Family does what's best in comedy: subtle awkward situations that make you laugh uncontrollably, even though if someone sees the same scene as you, they will never get why and how it's funny. You can't judge Modern Family based on some episodes seen sporadically, no, you'll have to go from the start and watch all of it, for the comedy to become apparent to you.
By the end of the season, Sabrina had annoyed the living shit out of me.
I'm all for women empowerment, but damn, must feminism be incorporated in almost every tv show nowadays? I get enough of it from the real world.
There's nothing but subtle low blows through out the season.
"Why can't we live a normal life with the mortals? Because Dark Lord is a jealous man."
Why doesn't the Dark Lord want us as powerful as him? Well, after all, he is a man."
Is it just me, or does Sabrina and Harvey love seem way over the top for teenagers? Their love was on the same level of Jack and Rose from Titanic. I was secretly hoping the Dark Lord or Prudence sisters' would kill her boyfriend off, so the show could move on.
Also, what time period is the show in? 1950's? 1960's? 1980's? 2017? I initially thought 1960's because of the signs and cars, but then Ambrose pulls out a laptop and laptops wasn't invented until 1981. So, I thought mid-to-late 1980's, then I see an iPhone X ringing in one scene.
Three episodes in and I'm already seriously annoyed by the characters' irrational choices and unrealistic behavior. Keeping secrets or lying for no good reason, promising one thing and doing another, etc. And they keep doing it over and over. And I'm not even mentioning their almost casual reaction to discovering a magic mirror that serves as a gateway to another realm. After such an experience any real person would start to seriously question their f****ng sanity or at least have a panic fit and leave that house to never come back again. I know I would. But no, these kids are like: "Wow, magic door. I guess that's nothing to be seriously alarmed about." Even after losing their father in a horrific and traumatic event it doesn't seem to bother these kids at all that they just almost lost their mother too inside this magic mirror maze. And these are just a few examples on the top my head. There's much more where that came from.
It's like watching an '80 horror movie where someone in an already dire situation hears a scary noise and decides to go towards it instead of running to safety. And sure, that was okay then. Maybe fun even. But today, these 30-40 old "proven devices" have become just that: old. Really old, both literally and figuratively. But apparently 30-40 years was not enough time for these writers to come up with something different or original.
It's a shame really, because I think the story overall is quite interesting. But it is starting to become almost unbearable to watch when the only reason the characters behave the way they do is because it's the easiest way to move the plot into a certain direction. It's lazy writing like this that makes characters unbelievable and unrelateble.
I'm enjoying this series, and its funny without too much tech stuff that the wife even enjoys most episodes
Season 2 is a complete garbage
One year later, I am still heartbroken that Happy Endings actually did end. What an ominous title that was...
It took me almost the entirety of the first season to start feeling the love for Happy Endings, but I stuck it out and I found that while I was expecting a How I Met Your Mother meets Friends kind of show, Happy Endings was much more and very different in all the right ways.
Although the series builds from Dave & Alex's wedding, all 6 characters are equally hilarious, entertaining, adorkable (yes there's a k there), relatable and whimsical. I couldn't pick one strong character in this cast, neither could I pick a weak one (although Dave is a bit of an acquired taste). I will never forget Max' genius "hold your horses" or Winnie The Pooh episode, Alex' "I'm not as dumb as I am" and her couch prank or her "I may not know what an Ira Glass is", Brad's Sim-Brad, Penny's falls and head bumps, Jane's ideal salary negotiation, her calm authority and that episode she loses it all at the couples games night, and Dave's so subtle dorky behavior.
But that isn't even half of Happy Endings' strength. Never before has any show assumed the gay/black attributes of its characters so openly, without making that one particular define their whole identity. Happy Endings broke the stereotypes of those characters, and the stereotypical way in which they are usually dealt with in TV/Movies. It didn't dance around the obvious, try to make a political stance, or avoid laughing about it. As with any group of friends, they sometimes joked about Max not being gay enough, or Brad's black origins and the way he speaks, and the jokes were real and tasteful.
There's also the fact that Happy Endings is a physical + spoken + situation comedy at once, a traditional sitcom in that sense, but the spoken aspect was always subdued, full of references, and it made you work for your reward in every joke. I was often too focused on one aspect or character and didn't notice what else was happening simultaneously. I also missed some of the verbal jokes. That's why there is such an added value in re-watching Happy Endings.
I have seen every episode at least 5 times and I STILL find new things to laugh at. That's how much there is going on, and how brilliant the show is. I am grateful that we got 3 seasons of Happy Endings, but I would have loved more, so much and much and much more.
This is a show that plays in the vein of "finally getting minority voices on television." There's chuckle moments and the cast has chemistry, but the perspective isn't necessarily "new." It's like long-form observational comedy more than anything else. If you're a fan of Aziz you'll get what you expect, but it's not particularly gripping, so to speak. A mash-up of millennial sensibilities and awkward situations, but even trying to recall "moments" from the show, I sort of draw a blank. That usually tells me all I need to know about a show. You won't knock it for trying, but you're not going to call home about it. Edit: The 2nd season turns up the charm and makes for more memorable moments.
Good scale and possibilities on paper, but uninspired in the realization - this show will be renamed from "Gotham" to "Gossip" next season.
I am very amused by the annoyance experienced by the two other comments on here. Complete disagree. Love this show!
Just watched the first episode of this train wreck. Supernatural should've stayed dead. The casting is absolutely dreadful and John especially doesn't feel like John at all. The show is supposed to be set in the 70s and everyone dresses and talks like it's set in the modern day. The CGI is awful and the acting is shite. The script is the poorest I've seen in a long time.
What the fuck is this?! Jensen, you say you are making this for the fans and for people who miss and love Supernatural but honestly, you are beating a dead horse here. The entire existence of this show just pisses all over 15 seasons of continuity and rewrites the entire history of the original show.
[spoilers sorry lole]
last 2 eps completely ruined the show; too many things left unexplained or given corny ass reasons; last episode REALLY horrendous; tried to make us sympathize with psychos; mid ass ending; hella plot holes and pretty predictable (was able to guess that front man was cop brother cus like who else would it be + old man was behind it all due to the fact that he was #1 like srsly) . really peaked in the "game" part of the show. why fly the vips in so late too? why have the organ plot? and in the marble game, why did ali lose since one of the rules were they HAD to play a marble game, yet lost despite not playing any? i get theres very few rules but one of the rules was they HAD to play a marble game but idk. they should have both died at least as a compromise lole. and final fight was so predictable with the anime-ass rain + ground stab near head instead of the finishing blow and suicide lmaooo.
game-part alone nice 7.5. kinda stupid fun to watch and shit.
kinda psuedo deep commentary on society (yea bro ur not wrong capitalism is ass and pushes us to do wild shit) and show was also pretty corny lolz
I can't very well explain how I feel about this show. When I started watching it, I loved the premise of the show: the planet is destroyed and all that's left of our race is 1 spaceship and 50.000 people. I didn't like the characters very much (I even disliked the way some actors played their role) and didn't think much of the special effects.
But in some way, this show has gripped me like very few shows have before. The combination of the premise, the unfolding story, the incredible dilemmas the survivors must face, the focus on politics/religion/science/social development rather than action and battles, even the musical score was perfect to drag me further into the show. I even started to care for the characters.
After watching all seasons I'm left a little unsatisfied with the ending (as I always am with any show), but the way this show could transport me into another world, might make this one of the very few shows I could watch a second time.
The premise is good and could have taken us to a lot of cool stuff... Instead were dealing with drunks, addicts, teen angst and daddy-issues most of the time.
I understand it has to be there but it could have been done a bit more in the background. The looming sense of dread, the shadow in the doorway rather than bad-dad-trope-galore.
The Nastume Yuujinchou series is a powerful and heartwarming fantasy masterpiece among the anime world. I absolutely loved the series and couldn't stop watching till the very end. The quality through all 4 seasons was just superb without a hint of drop-off. The range of emotions and themes covered in Nastume Yuujinchou is beyond impressive. It would have me ROFL with Nyanko-sensei's antics in one minute to within Clannad-esque tears in the very next. However, what truly struck me was how N.Y. was able to find a duality/struggling conflict within all of these different themes and truly challenge the feelings and emotions of the viewer. This was done by creating such spectacular characters from Natsume and his family/friends down to the individual youkai that we meet for only a single episode. The creators do a magnificent job getting us emotionally invested in this world via these relatable and lovable characters. It's an amazing ride (and I hope we get another season) as we join Natsume on his journey as he learns to accept and understand his ever changing world, the people/youkai around him, and, ultimately, himself. This is right at the top of my list of must watch anime. Don't think. Just watch.
I was looking forward to a more "adult", more gritty and dark version of Sabrina.
But this is surprisingly trashy, all over the place and just absurd most of the times.
Some of the effects are pretty good, though.
Shipka is a good choice, Salem's appearance was absolutely great, but Wardell is annoying, Zelda way too mean and Hilda too whiny and I just don't care for Harvey or Ambrose.
Well, in summary, disappointing.
some fillers were quite nice, i didn't like the one with some sorta princess tho
As per usual with many popular shows and films, it’s overhyped, overly serious, emotionally manipulative and mostly dumb.
It’s a show that thinks that people with shitty lives and gambling problems are willing to die for a 0.1% chance of winning a lot of money.
Bit of a thin motivation, wouldn’t you say?
Wouldn’t you probably flee the country, if your financial situation was that shitty? Wouldn’t you rather rob a bank, or a rich family? Yeah me too, I wouldn’t hesitate for a single second if it was between that or participating in some sadistic game.
It’s such a silly concept, and yet it’s presented as if this is some sort of serious and important drama with a lot of social commentary about poverty.
I’m sorry, but this is a show where the big villain looks like he walked out of a comic book (he literally looks like Victor van Doom from the Fantastic Four), and his minions have masks with Playstation buttons on them.
It’s schlock, but it thinks it’s Parasite.
And don’t get met even started on the acting, it’s fucking horrible.
This might’ve worked if our characters would be forced to participate involuntarily, but at that point you’re just remaking Battle Royale and The Hunger Games, so you’re kinda screwed regardless with this concept.
The acting is pretty bad, the CGI is laughable, the story doesn't appear that original to other Netflix Originals where a hero with new powers has a parental figure/family friend that has to be defeated (The Protector, Iron Fist, The Order) but I'm going to continue to give it ago, in the doubtful hope that it improves.
I wanted to like this so much, the manga is amazing and the other anime adaptations were actually pretty good, but they just had to let such an amateur studio (or actually two at the same time) adapt it, I'm really disappointed.
Let's hope this show at least garners more attention to Berserk in general.
The second season of Noragami has just finished and it surpassed the first in every way. I remember really enjoying the first season but finding the final few episodes and confrontation a bit underwhelming. Well, the second season doesn't have that problem. It hits the ground running and remains consistently good throughout. Deciding to animate two arcs back-to-back with little-to-no filler in between was definitely a wise decision by Bones.
As others have already said, this series really does stand out from other more generic action/comedy shows, thanks to a likable and well-developed cast, good quality animation and of course a godly soundtrack by Iwasaki Taku (also responsible for the soundtrack in Katanagatari).
All in all I have really enjoyed Noragami thus far and I hope we get more in the future.
