I finished episode 10 and was like,Where's the next episode? It was just getting good.I wanted more. Wish they had done at least 13 episodes. Glad to see there will be season 2.
Such a big fan of this. Was turned off by yet another SuperHero show but am soooo glad I watched this. Twice actually. Can not wait for Season 2. If Game of Thrones is at the top of my pyramid, this show, Preacher and Magicians, WestWorld all sit at the same #2 position
I enjoyed it without being completely blown away.
Exploring the family dynamics of estranged adopted siblings with a wide range of super powers and a horribly emotionally abusive and exploitative father AND an apocalypse- things are gonna get weird.
The story was not predictable- certainly weird, but I didn’t know what was going to happen, which is good.
Some characters were better than others - Klaus, self-medicating his disturbing power with illicit drugs and Hazel the sympathetic time-travelling hitman in particular worked well for me.
The use of music was great. Some great songs giving a backdrop to many of the action pieces, plus Vanya’s classical music vibe.
I loved everything about the series - music, casting, acting, cinematography... the list goes on.
This show is my new favorite. It reminded me a little of ´A series of Unfortunate Events' in the way that both have a very weird, funny and different way of storytelling and I love both.
All of the characters are very cool and unique, all bringing their own element to the table. There is a sense of mystery throughout the entire season and it all fits together nicely in the end. I'm thrilled that there is going to be another season because there is still a lot more to this story.
I didn't expect it to be this good and fun.
The characters all really unique and create a fun dynamic.
The visuals and music are great, although it could some better CGI and more budget on a few occasions.
Kinda gave me a watchmen vibe.
Really looking forward to a second season.
Cant wait till the next season :)
Great show for movie night. And it keeps you interested until the end. But keep in mind that it has a cliffhanger at the end.
An elongated origin story. Hopefully now that is done we will see a Season 2 to really sink your teeth into.
i did not know what to expect as i've never read nor even heard about the comics before, but this is an awesome show! binged it in two days. obviously i cant say how close it follows the comic but i found it really entertaining and the characters very likeable.. well, most of them anyway. netflix has to renew it or i will be majorly disappointed. 9.5/10
i would die for five and klaus tbh
super funny, great action scenes, perfect cast, amazing soundtrack. the umbrella academy is one of my favourite comics and i was so happy to see it was getting the series it deserved!
I hoped Ra'Jah would redeem herself, she didn't. And it is shocking how mean they all were to Scarlet. I mean, surely, she was cocky, but never harmed anyone or said anything behind their back, or stirred things up! Also sad how I think Brooke Lynn was the one to speak positively about Yvie, because it felt like no one else would?
This was the shadiest cast of all, I think. Because these were not spur of the moment feuds that resulted in loud, dramatic bursts, but they were really hurtful towards one another and carried this hurt all the way back home. I don't think these girls will be friends or get to share careers in the way other drag race girls are known to do.
I wanted more Shuga here because the wigate drama was behind us right now... still rajah trew the wig to the floor I just can't xD
Not the best reunion at all I enjoyed seeing my fav queens again (Nina, Scarlet, Shuga, Yvie especially)
I really don't think this film is as bad as everyone makes out. I get that it was disappointing but I wouldn't say it's significantly worse than Attack of the Clones. At least this Anakin can act. It does seem more aimed at younger audiences but what's wrong with that? I feel like it appealed to the kid in all of us and let us have a little fun in the Star Wars universe.
As a film intended to introduce the Star Wars world, the design and special effects that went into this are beautiful and add scope and detail to the original trilogy. The score is also a wonderful addition to the already iconic music. As an introduction to a new set of characters, the story of the discovery of Anakin Skywalker is poorly paced and lacks urgency, despite characters consistently reminding the audience that time is short. Too many cameos and bit parts for extraneous characters and dialogue telling us what is already being shown slow the film down considerably. Better editing would have resulted in a better film. Liam Neeson however carries the film with a great performance as Qui Gon Jinn and the villains are equally compelling, culminating in a stunning duel between the Jedi and Sith which is still one of the high points of the whole series.
To stop feeling emotions, to stop wanting to feel them, is to feel death.
Watching this again 10 years later. Many things happened since, lots of tv shows came and went. Still this episode hold its place as one of the greatest season finale ever.
So clearly here nobody likes, or did notice it is a black comedy, It's even on descriptions of various sites.. Critics and I think the poster itself implies that, the slogan... Bah.
I loved it. BIG surprise to find (find! She's the actress of my adolescence!) she was... Winona! Even in that big close up that she has when he's talking about symmetry of faces...
Then I finally did.
Understand why I liked it so much. That type of banter is hard to keep up without being a beat or the public.
Two neurotics taken from a unknown Woody Allen movie and put together to do their thing. Or try, and be impossible with one another.
It's a boy!
EDITED FOR TYPOS AND ADD SOME THINGS ON SECOND VIEW
Sorry not my first language
Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves star in the satiric romantic comedy Destination Wedding. The film follows two misanthropes who are paired together at a destination wedding as they critique each other, the wedding activities, life, and love. Both Ryder and Reeves give strong performance, and prove able to carry the film; which is entirely focused on their two characters. And, the witty banter is incredibly clever and has a nice rhythm and style to it. Still, it can get a little raunchy and nihilistic – which kills the romance vibe. It’s a bit of a gimmick film and is kind of limited by the two character format, but Destination Wedding is entertaining and delivers some laughs.
Ok wow that was good. Like really good.
Man just a lot of fun.
So plot wise this is a movie about two people both of whom are bad people. They meet happenstance and find out they're both going to the same destination wedding. Lindsay is the former fiance of the groom (he left her) and Frank is his half-brother. They both hate the groom Keith but it barely unites them as they both just hate everything.
This plotline sounds familiar because it's basically all you need to know to watch FX's absolutely excellent You're the Worst. But this is just a movie version of that pilot. So what you really look for in this movie is not so much the plot which we all know (Boy meets girl, ... , They get together), but the chemistry and how they get together. Ryder and Reeves have EXCELLENT chemistry and the writing was top notch. Which it had to be because this movie is 90% Lindsay and Frank riffing off one another. It doesn't feel improvy or forced. But the sheer endurance of the back and forth between them is impressive. They should be together based on that alone. But Keanu plays a character that in other people's hands would feel lazy and dull. I love Bruce Willis movies but ever since I learned he has a rider that says he films his parts in like 2 days and then collects his money and they film the rest of the movie. It suddenly clicks what is wrong with his performances lately. It's that he's not performing. Reeves does the oppsite here. He takes a character that is written as lifeless and stiff and he performs that stiffness. Ryder's Lindsay on paper is pathetic. Keith broke off their engnagement like a dick but she sues him and is still coming to this Destination Wedding performatively instead of saying no and sparing herself the pain. Ryder infuses her with pain and anger and spite. Yet she's develops a hesitant but honest and open affection for Frank that keeps her interesting.
This is exactly the sort of movie I would buy just to have on tap when I need something to watch that's entertaining but not stupid.
How wonderfully weird movie! It was so weird I liked the movie because of it. They are not your tipical lovers and that wedding they are attending is just a background for their odd conversations..
This is one of the best blockbusters ever. It has a ton of action, it is emotional and it makes you think. It's crazy how good the CGI is, you stop thinking about it because of how invested you get in Caesar's journey. Great supporting characters with Maurice and the new addition of Bad Ape. Woody Harrelson is fantastic as always. It will be interesting to see if Andy Serkis' name comes up for best actor next year at the Oscars. He definitely deserves some recognition for his performance.
I think its funny that nature has a ironic sense of humor. The disease that killed everyone is now turning the rest of the humans into a more primitive state. Caesar sparing the colonel was a very emotional moment. Showing he is a much more complicated character than just an ape on a revenge mission. This whole trilogy asks a lot of questions on what is humanity? A very emotional end to a great trilogy.
Shape of Avatar 2: Interstellar
i got a major problem with the premise: so they modify our genetics to be able to survive titan because we cant survive on Earth, right? so why don´t change us so we could.... just live on earth? ^^
okay so lets say that this is a show thats like an adult bedtime story type of thing there is fariys werewolves and all sorts of stuff like that though be warned its entirely for adults only theres plenty of sex and swearing even gore so if your looking for a nice exscape from the rest of the world then defintely try this one out
Any movie that basically has 1 actor had better be damn compelling... and this was. Clara Ruggard gave an outstanding performance as 'Daughter', raised from an embryo by the maternal robot 'Mother' in a secure bunker, time noted as 'post human extinction'. All is going well with Daughter raised in all manner of STEAM by Mother, becoming a well-rounded young woman on the verge of her 18th birthday. Then Swank as 'Woman' comes a-knockin' and shenanigans ensue. For nerds like me, I enjoyed learning that the robot was NOT CGI, but a carefully custom tailored body suit that gave more dimensionality to an otherwise lifeless form. The plot may be slightly cliche (is this robot truly benevolent? Is the Earth really devoid of all human life?), but still held my attention. Then I sat as the credits rolled and wondered what I just watched (the plot twist take a bit of thought). That's a good sign to me.
Much better than expected. Large in scope and ‘world size’, beautiful cinematography, and decent acting.
And the romantic elements are actually reigned in at appropriate times, which keeps up the fast pace (well, so far; I am on Episode 3, though tempted to keep binging.)
Yes, there are some very obvious allegorical plot devices and links to “current affairs” straight out of the gate, but they’re balanced with the fantasy elements and help flesh out the alternate world.
.. P.S. Amazon’s teaser for this wasn’t very good or striking, but the show has turned out to be intriguing.
Edit - after finishing the first season, it lacked the anticipated depth I first thought I gleaned. To me, it was more visually appealing than anything else.
10, 10, 10, 10's across the board.
This is one of my most anticipated series for this year.
