20m episodes... Why?
Anyway it's a good start, but will be painful to wait a week for a 20m episode...

@tgvlx Guess you'll have to be... Patient
I love the concept of the story and loving the characters.
I like how the story is developing, but the constant jumps are trying. I understand it was a success in a movie and then in a show and now everyone does the same, it's really annoying imo.all in all it kept me wanting to see more, so I hope it keeps getting better.
loading replies
@tgvlx it was the same in the book which, from the first episode I've just seen they've been following quite faithfully
I don't understand why people do this. This had a awful rating months before the pilot aired.
Anyway I liked it, reminded me a lot of the 80's type of Teenager movies. It seems to be a mix of "Breakfast club" meets "I know what you did last summer".
Give this one a watch and see if you are entertained.
loading replies
@blackrider true, but I saw the first 3 episodes and rated it a 4-5ish at max.
Also I know what you did last summer will be airing soon, the TV version.
Also: TGVlx throws 10s around
Watched the first 2 episodes, can't wait for the rest.
Episode 1 is kinda slowish, but it's getting us familiar with the people.
Episode 2 is much better and has some action.. now it's starting to really get interesting.
8/10A couple of What the... moments.
Dad and kid are driving down the road. Both are sitting on their seatbelts. Dad swerves as he's looking at the government agents behind him - they're both wearing their seatbelts!
The kid jumps into the back of the van and puts on his seatbelt, but when mum hits the brakes to look at the cops - he's in the front seat!
The big shootout. They've killed the guys - why wouldn't you take their truck. Why in the world would you walk in the desert?!!!!loading replies
@tgvlx @speeddemon Most newer vehicles have built-in cellular and/or satellite connections (not necessarily for you to talk to friends through, but for "features" from the manufacturer like remote diagnostics and help buttons, think OnStar) that would be a really good and easy tracking beacon in this situation, given that the NSA is involved. Plus, who knows what else those "militia" guys had in their souped-up "security" truck. So I expected that both Allie and Chuy would be very skeptical of using a newer vehicle. I thought it was actually a really good detail on the writer's and director's part.
Well I'm loving it. I was afraid it was another disappoing show from Netflix, like The Irregulars, oh boy was I wrong.
From the acting to the scenarios you get pulled in to the story. I hope you all love this as much as I'm loving it.loading replies
@tgvlx Did you finish it?

This show is great & amazing scenery. Makes me want to visit Montana.

@tgvlx Did you watch Lawmen yet? Just noticed it and it wasn't on my list. Hopefully it's as good as all the other ones that are Taylor Sheridan based projects.
Really disappointed with it. Maybe I had too many expectations. Probably will appease some people for the novelty. For me it was really boring and too absurd, but without the humor (at least for me).
I usually don't spend time talking about the shows I don't like, but I was really hoping for this one. I couldn't even finish the first episode.
loading replies
@tgvlx "Maybe I had too many expectations" I think you hit the nail on the head there. Even looking at your previous comment on Elsbeth where you say "and because of that I had no expectations. But I loved it."
Don't guess or predict what a show will be and you'll judge it for what it is.
Is this based on the Hugh Howey (Wool/Silo) novel?
loading replies
@bubbalou Yes, this is based on Hugh Howeys novel which is also titled 'Beacon 23'.
Another good show from Amazon. So far some of my favorite shows are from Amazon, Reacher, Thr Boys, The terminal List, Jack Ryan, Wheel of Time and Rings of Power.
The Peripheral just become one of those. Based on a great sci fi book and with good actors and a good adaptation (in my opinion). If you like sci fi and action don't miss it, at least the first two episodes were awesome.

@tgvlx also loved the show, but it has been canceled.
there's a petition to bring it back though:

First episode was good, this could be another top notch show from apple.

@kingy72 Not wrong.... failing to clear the truck and overwatch not engaging at least the drivers of the utes to hinder the escape was bizarre.

@tgvlx LOL. I guess I do go around ditching on a lot of shows. But this one, Mayor of Kingstown, 1883, and Tulsa King have been great shows. Seems like Taylor Sheridan has a winning formula, can't wait for the next set of shows to be released.
A terrific miniseries from the geniuses behind The Americans. The premise itself is pretty original and darkly humorous. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending but I think that's a good thing considering Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields did the same thing with The Americans, it wasn't what we expected and we should admire that. Steve Carrell deserves some awards recognition, he carries it even in the moments that aren't great (some bits felt like they were added just to keep it 10 parts when it probably could've been shorter). Domhall Gleeson is excellent, but his character got quite repulsive at times which made it difficult even to find his conclusion satisfying, but then again he's a murderer who doesn't realise he's selfish. Anyways, it's not perfect but Carrell turns in one amazing turn that I'm still thinking about and son of a bitch, that ending hurt me.
loading replies
@tgvlx The 20 minute format definitely felt odd and a huge departure for Weisberg and Fields, I can't say that all the episodes fet worth it but I didn't think it was awful. I know the critics that did like it were given all ten episodes when they reviewed it, so maybe binging it would've given a more satisfying feel. I'll be skipping The Peripheral, there's too much TV and that one didn't make to big of a splash with critics or people who's opinions I trust. I am eager to see what Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy do with Fallout but after hate watching Westworld, I can't say I expect much.
The first two episodes were fantastic. It's silly to compare this to game of thrones or hotd considering how antithetical the source materials are to one another. The trailers and character posters looked like they had some spotty cgi and tacky costumes but it all looks stunning in this nearly billion dollar first season. It's already better than any of the hobbit movies and im wildly excited for whats to come after tempered expectations before watching.

@fbwf I have simiar thoughts. Tough they should lay off with makeup. In 1080p it was very distracting. I'd sooner get over an elf with pimples than one slathered in 10 layers of primer, concealer, foundation, powder.
Please please please don’t suck!!!

@fbwf I agree. I also thought the first two episodes were fire. I'm excited about the new leads and awaiting adventures.
People downvoting this like we know anything at all about the show.
Dont understand why rating shows/episodes before the release date is still a thing.loading replies
@felixgotrek Some people live their whole lives in fear. They have no choice but to lash out at things they don't understand. Best to just ignore them. I agree though, votes should NOT be allowed pre-release. If for nothing else if people use the score filters to find new shows.
Each season keeps getting better imho. This first episode of season 3 was a hell of a ride.

@tgvlx You are not lying...wow this is a pretty good show.
This show is amazing. I sure hope they get a Season 2.

@BBoykins Hey, They renewed for Season 2
First episode has made me not to sure if watching the second is something i should waste a hour doing.Maybe come back to it if i see reviews getting better as there is a load of top shows on the now.

The first episode didn't do the show justice at all. But it picks momentum. Keep watching.
Can't wait for this. Although I'm a bit worried about Nick Santora being behind it, I really don't like the way most of his shows are run, but I absolutely love their pick for Reacher. It still hurts me to think Tom Cruise was Reacher...
loading replies
@tgvlx I know! He was like the exact opposite of what reacher is meant to be lol deadpan and clever and exceptionally tall and big lol cruise was rubbish.
A brilliant adaptation of the classic with some twists that in my opinion do not harm the history. I would go as far as it improves it, but again that is just my opinion.
It is for me the best adaptation I've seen of Jules Verne's book. The characters are well cast, so if you like adventure, drama and a little comedy don't miss this show.

@tgvlx Okay I just finished watching Good Sam. It wasn't bad, it still is lagging somewhere. Just doesn't have the flow like The Good Doctor, New Amsterdam, or The Resident. I want to like it though, so I'm sticking with it.

@tgvlx Now I don't mind the vampire movies... I watched all the Twilight movies (because I'm corny like that lol). Interesting take that it's about witches and vampires falling in love! I'm glad we're on the same page with Good Sam... I was thinking the father would be more like Hugh Laurie on House but that's definitely not the case. I do like him though... just hoping the pace gets better.

@tgvlx You know what... I don't knowingly mess with stuff that has to do with witches and the devil... so this wasn't on my radar at all. Is it good? I see you watched Good Sam, what did you think? I was so excited about it and the first episode was a little slow for me. I'm going to watch a few more episodes so see if I'm sticking with it or not.

@tgvlx Glad to see a co-sign I like! I just added this to my queue to watch one of these days... when I get enough of my cheesy rom-coms lol
People keep voting without any episode is out, is kind of ignorant.
That said, I'm really happy about this and can't wait to see it. It's from Sheridan who's the mind behind Yellowstone, one of my favorite shows. The trailer looked good.

@tgvlx Not just votes, 37 plays! Crazy.
Another Tyler Sheridan show. After Yellowstone success he's in demand, and that's a good thing imo.
He's new show 1883 is about to be released, so he will have 3 running tv shows of hight quality.
If you like some criminal drama, mixed with some dark grit plot lines, don't miss this one.loading replies
@tgvlx is this one of the spinoff shows that will come out of Yellowstone?

@tgvlx I'm hearing great things about this one!
Even with the soapy melodrama, occasional bad acting and a considerably lower budget (probably 2% of the budget of this show per episode): Arrow managed to create better characters and more visceral, memorable and coherent action scenes in its first 2 seasons compared to this show. I’ll even go as far to say that it looks better, despite using incredibly basic set ups and filmmaking techniques. Getting Hailee Steinfeld was a great choice, but her character isn’t leaving a very strong or likable impression. In comparison, Joss Whedon managed to make you care about Clint’s character within 15 minutes of screentime. Well, enough to make you care as a side character.
Moreover, this feels like a studio giving their impression of a Marvel Netflix show, like Daredevil or Jessica Jones, but it doesn’t understand what makes those shows good. It’s so tame and uninspired. It seems to aim for 80’s cheese at points, but even those old action movies had some bite to them (despite how silly they could get). The comedy is mostly flat out lame and cringy, with the role playing scene probably being the lowest low of the entire MCU so far. The recent Marvel projects have had such a weird shift in terms of comedy. They used to be great at making mass product films that were at least a little bit clever and subversive. It’s no surprise that a lot of people who worked on Community also work behind the scenes at Marvel. It’s like they fired those writers after phase 3 ended, and hired the Friends team instead. Their quality control is spreading very thin.

You’re comparing 46 episodes of a fully fledged show against a tiny 6 episode mini-series? Pretty weird comparison…
I am surprised at how much I love this show. So good!

@cjclark471 Same here... It's like Glee, the dance version lol.
Enjoyed the first episode very much. The show to me is blend of Dallas and Bonanza.
