Remember that scene from the Half-Blood Prince when Harry forces Dumbledore to drink that cursed liquid to get to the locket? And after every glassful Dumbledore screams "Please stop!" and "Kill me!" to which Harry keeps replying "Just one more, just one more!"?
Yeah. That's how it feels just watching each new Chibnall episode knowing Davies is on the horizon.
What a travesty.
I consider Doctor Who to be very similar to Star Wars. In the sense that it’s all Star Wars, you can have favourite characters and episodes, but saying things like “I don’t like the prequels they ruined it”, I’m sorry but you’re not a real Star Wars fan. This mentality can be used with Doctor Who. People who don’t skip whole seasons because they don’t like the person playing the character or the show runner is bad is not a real Doctor Who fan. This is what the show is, complaining about it won’t make you enjoy it more. Jodie is an amazing Doctor, Yaz is a great companion. You’re all just complainers.
I love this return to serial style set up. This episode is obviously all setup and there was a lot of characters to keep track of, but I really enjoyed this. I’m excited to see where it goes. I love this. Is it my favourite Doctor? Companion? Show Runner? No. But I understand and accept those things are out of my control. It’s all Doctor Who. And it’s all good.
Pretty solid episode, my favourite of the season so far. Entertaining from beginning to end, very creative, this is just it. That's the Doctor Who I know and love!
Incomprehensible from start to finish. While it's nice to learn some of Vinder's backstory, it isn't written into the story very well, as we're introduced to another character with their own plotline (halfway through the story!). The plot (whatever it is at this point) takes a pause for us to learn a lot of other backstory in the most confusing way possible, on top of adding ANOTHER new mysterious character that the Doctor has a vision of. That's gotten really old really quick.
I don't think we've ever gone from a banger episode right into such a messy episode. This episode left me seriously confused. We are halfway through this season and there's basically no plot progression to speak of. I feel so lost right now.
Imagine thinking that combining The Mechanist, Jet, Omashu, and Zuko in the same episode was a good idea :clown::clown::clown:
That's another stellar episode of Doctor Who - maybe Russell T. Davies' best script for the show? It's a perfect bottle episode (dare I say the best bottle episode of television apart from Breaking Bad's Fly?) A great slice of Twilight Zone-esque brilliance at its finest. Lesley Sharp is terrific. This run from The Unicorn and the Wasp to Journey's End is pretty much perfection.
Headcanon: Lady Christina de Souza is actually an earlier regeneration of River Song
Now Donna is actually gone, I feel bad. She was good. People hated her not because she is bad, it’s because she replaced popular characters like Martha and Ross.
The anger is misdirected, it should have been towards the producers who replaced Martha. Best of luck Donna.
Worst episode by far.. I really hope we found the bottom here and that all others are better. I've loved the season so far but this episode reached a new low.
It just didn't make sense. The aliens introduce themselves and instantly the Doctor just knows that smoke from the tree is toxic and the prison can be fixed with a simple piece of that tree and poof everything is great again.. Even the effects were bad. The most toe-curling though, was King James. This guy -who played Nightcrawler in XMen 2 like a boss- got a stupid kids-comedy kind of role bordering to slapstick goofiness. Really, walking into a rake would have been fitting for his character.. Bad episode!
I'm scared for the next episode. it's written by Joy Wilkinson too.
