You Outta Know this doc is the shit!
There is definitely some worth in this investigation and it would be hypocritical of me to be bothered by its voyeuristic nature when I’ve watched so many other true crime documentaries before (with the major difference being that Marilyn was famous and those other subjects weren’t).
However, I don’t think this film did justice to Marilyn. It was wildly reductive in the way they portrayed as a person - as fetishised and pitied as she’s always been by the public. There were tidbits that clearly showed that she was much more than the tortured sex symbol and that’s an alternative take on Marilyn that I would love to see further explored.
Didn't love it but I otherwise quite enjoyed this movie. Reminded me of Luis Buñuel all the way through, especially his surrealist masterpiece The Exterminating Angel.
A parodical existentialism – as it should be.
I don't think this was a terrible episode, but nothing major happened and it didn't move the story forward.
This show is very slow paced. Why did they have to turn it into a musical randomly? They're stretching it out unnecessarily. The constant time jumps are taking away the seriousness of what happened and the build up to Conrad's suicide is lost.
Elle Fanning stars in Teen Spirit, an indie drama about a young girl who gets the chance to follow her dreams. When a national singing competition holds auditions in a small town on the Isle of White, a teenage waitress named Violet Valenski tries out and partners with a former opera singer who promises to coach her, and get her to the finals. Fanning gives a strong performance and proves to be a pretty good singer too. However, the pacing is a little slow and the plot is bit formulaic, but it does some interesting things with the character development and avoids a few of the more obvious clichés. Also, the soundtrack is really well-done, featuring a good array of pop songs that help to set the right tone. While Teen Spirit has a few problems, it ends up being a rather moving coming-of-age film with something to say.
It's gloomy tone sometimes sits uneasily with the energetic music, but thanks to the wonderful Fanning, this is still a film worth watching.
What a complete pile of predictable, cliche'd rubbish. Nothing unpredictable, nothing interesting, just one boring predictable scene after the other. The acting was pretty good, but that's it. The script and plot are without depth, without tension, without anything of substance. Luckily I had my laptop to help me survive this. i only sat through it because I was watching with my teenage niece. When the movie ended, she said WHAT? What? Is that it?? I gave her a wry smile.
And finally the season has me.
The ball was amazing, I never saw something like it.
an excellent show with a superb cast. Nicole Kidman is brilliant.
Oh how I wanted to love this movie. How could it go wrong? Three of the best actresses of their generation and a director whose work I admire, all in one film. And alas, it isn't good. The result is a drama without drama and characters that not even these great talents could breathe life into. In a way it reminded me of a bad Woody Allen movie (side note: the shots of the empty hallways towards the end was reminiscent of the same scenes in Allen's Interiors). There would be scene after scene where very little happens to advance the plot or your interest in the characters. It's almost like dutifully walking through the movie taking notes on what happened and then on to the next scene, as if we were walking past museum exhibits. At no point is any of it compelling or even very interesting.
This film is also another classic case of the rottentomatoes score not being indicative of the quality of the movie. Is it necessarily bad enough to get a negative score? No, but I would by no means take the number of positive reviews as an indication of the movie's worth.

Experimental cinema that is not so experimental. Improvised dialogues that are not so improvised. A drama that is not really a drama. Great product placement on cruises in times of coronavirus. Steven Soderbergh blowing smoke once again.
That was a pretty good first half of a movie….
Why does Scarlett Johannsen seem like a guest in her own movie? Her sister steals every scene she is in. It's okay but no Winter Soldier.
The movie was kinda "meh" It started good but ended up in a kinda mess no explanation what happen. Don't expect much
Without pleasure, who are we? Germans...lol that was a good one.
It's a little cringy and quite a lot of stereotypes so far but that ending did definitely make me laugh. I'll keep watching because I adore Lily Collins (I do have to add that she has definitely acted better in other movies).
I feel like you have to be high to understand this movie or at least in rehab. It was a good concept poor execution. What makes me even more upset is you have two strong actors that didn't seem to have any screen connection which in turn hurt the movie.
[HBO] Hstory reduced to bedroom tales. Helen Mirren the Great.
Let's see if this is better than the Russian version? #Ekaterina #CatherineTheGreat
As entertaining as this was, I do feel like I want more. The story feels incredibly condensed, glossing over major areas of Catherine's reign. Personally, I would have liked to have the series span over multiple seasons, similar to how The Tudors ran, that way more time can be spent building and executing the story of Catherine (I also would've liked to have seen the coup d'état that put Catherine on the throne in the first place).
This is basically like if you've never read Harry Potter before and you decide to start from Goblet of Fire onwards, skimming through the chapters that you're reading.
The actors were fantastic though, especially Helen Mirren and Jason Clarke, which isn't that surprising.
The acting performances of Brendan Fletcher and Eliana Jones is what I will remember from this movie. Daddario does one of her worst performances so far and I'm not sure if Cavill still knows that he was in this movie, looked like he just got out of bed throughout the entire thing and just read stuff from a sign.
If this 5th season were all like the last 3 episodes, it would have been one of the best seasons of the show. If seems they were lost on how to wrap-up the story after Alison was murdered.
Where to begin? While not up to the writing level of seasons one and two, I still enjoyed the ride. In many ways I feel that the season was simultaneously too much but not enough The divorce, Vegas marriage, and subsequent issues with it was amusing but the response to it was underwhelming. Entirely too much Shy for the first few episodes, then completely gone, then overreacting to the final set. The interaction between the parents. It all just seemed unevenly written. it did set up for season 4
Janet was brilliant at playing everyone except for Chidi.
So now we know why nobody gets into the good place. Yet another new plot wall they're rushing to tear down; these writers rip through plots with such alacrity, as if they're starving dogs chowing down. Don't know if I should admire or condemn them for it.
