Joe Pera Talks with You

I made sure to purchase both specials in addition to the full season 1 online to show my support for this indescribably special show. Episodes 3, 6, and 9 were the highlights for me. I can't wait to revisit every minute of this series.

Station Eleven

It’s rare that a show makes me cry, and it’s rare that a show makes me want to rewatch it the second I’ve finished it. This show is both of those for me and I’m so happy it exists.

Gordon, Gino and Fred's Road Trip

This show really clicked with me. Gordon, Gino, and Fred have great chemistry as a trio, and I enjoyed the pranks as much as the food and wine. Don't miss the Christmas roast special if you're sad to be out of episodes after blowing through 1-3 (like I was).

Making It

The judging in this show is extremely subjective. Fitting an uninspired brief as clearly as possible is favored over genuine innovation. Poehler and Offerman are generally fine, but it is impossible not to cringe at their constant barrage of forced jokes and their attempts to even approximate the genuine friendliness and supportiveness of the best hosts on GBBO. Last but not least, the music makes me want to not have ears anymore.

The Great Canadian Baking Show: Season 7

This is the lowest quality bake-off series by such a large margin (in my humble opinion) - and yet, my wife and I lap it up. Worth it for the Bruno memes if little else.

The Vow: Season 2

Incredibly compelling, and incredibly devastating. I think this is one of the best seasons of a docuseries I have ever watched.

On Cinema: 8x04 'Sausage Party' and 'Pete's Dragon'

“Not so fast!” - Gregg Turkington

Probably a top 10 episode for me.

The Bear: 2x08 Bolognese

“Yeah, a funeral of all my enemies”

I love the new Richie.

Station Eleven: 1x10 Unbroken Circle

A show I will come back to again and again, I am sure of it.

Maid: 1x04 Cashmere

This episode stressed me out.

For All Mankind: 3x02 Game Changer

“It has been too long that the Republican Party has been defined by people that look like me”

Most unrealistic line in this entire show :joy:

South Park: 25x01 Pajama Day

Man… this was not good.

Maid: 1x03 Sea Glass

I’m curious to see if and how Alex’s perspective will change over time. Her judgmental comments about ex-cons and squatters jumped out at me, because many of those folks may be in situations not so different from hers. (She also could easily have become a con herself if Regina had called the cops in episode 2).

This is an utterly captivating show and I can’t wait to see the rest. Qualley’s performance is just remarkable.

Detroiters: 1x01 Pilot

I love these guys separately, so I’m not surprised I love them together. “I’m gonna pull the plug on your ass” really got me :joy:

Jeopardy!: 2024x46 2024 Tournament of Champions Quarterfinal Game 7

One for the history books!

Pachinko: 1x04 Chapter Four

Astonishing episode. Love the parallel storylines - multiple timelines are everywhere these days, and it’s refreshing to see a show do them so well. Tears at the end for me, and it’s only episode 4.

Detroiters: 2x07 Lois

Sam’s voicemail message :joy:

The Afterparty: 1x06 Zoë

Forced concept episodes can be so painful to watch

Yellowjackets: 1x04 Bear Down

Feels like entirely separate writing teams for the past and present. In a bad way.

The Great Kiwi Bake Off: 5x08 Finale

Hmmmmm I like both Anna and Sally, but I think Sally should have won based on this episode’s bakes.

Avatar: The Last Airbender: Season 1

Nope! Peacing out of this one before I waste any more than 1 hour on it.

For All Mankind: 4x09 Brazil

Why did Aleida’s son react to that tootsie roll as if Willy Wonka was giving him a free everlasting gobstopper?

loading replies
For All Mankind: 3x08 The Sands of Ares

I thought the drama was going to be resolved but then the rescue had to interrupt the confession so we can drag it out for another two episodes, or another season :rolling_eyes: Getting tired of this show’s bullshit.

For All Mankind: 3x07 Bring It Down

Hoo boy, this show is going down the tubes.

For All Mankind: 3x05 Seven Minutes of Terror

Continues to be a good show held back by eye roll-inducing romantic subplots. Final scene also felt rushed, silly, and tonally inconsistent. I’m committed at this point, but when my wife joins for a few minutes at a time she’s laughing and I can’t blame her.

For All Mankind: 2x08 And Here's to You

It feels like this show has two separate teams of writers: one for the weird, uncomfortable romantic subplots and another for everything else.

Northern Exposure: 3x08 A-Hunting We Will Go

Such a sweet episode, might be tearing up a bit at the end

On Cinema: Special 62 VFA Expert Hollywood Tour

Didn’t think it was possible to cram so much Blondie expertise into a 35 minute runtime!

Love is Blind: 4x13 The Live Reunion

Decent season, horrible reunion episode.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: 1x07 The Eye

At least I always get a good little nap in during this show.
