Had a lot of fun with this one. Most people probably only know this one as "that monkey movie with future president Ronald Reagan in it", but I think it deserves a lot more credit that that. Reminds me a lot of the Three Stooges short "Hoi Polloi", but with a chimp instead of stooges.
Didn't expect much going in, but jesus christ.
I probably would have enjoyed it more if it wasn't so poorly shot.
The movie where Arnold wrestles a bear in Central Park. Do you need anything else?
Easily the best Indy flick for me, and probably Spielberg's best film as well.
There's some great imagery in this one. That scene of Dracula waking up with his eyes a solid red is iconic. Just an alright Hammer Dracula film otherwise.
The finale is really the highlight of this flick. Well worth the buildup.
There's some good ideas here, but it's a hard film to love. Great as a curiosity, but very flawed.
Favorite Noir I've seen. Infinitely rewatchable.
The opening scene is absolutely fantastic, so much so that the rest of the film doesn't quite live up to it. Still, a thoroughly enjoyable Vincent Price vehicle.
Wow, this is a good one. And by "good" I mean "bad". I have a real love of these independent z-flicks shot out in the boonies, and damn does this one deliver. Best 70 minutes of nothing I ever saw.
Enjoyable anthology film. The Black Cat was quite humorous.
Charles Laughton's performance was wonderful, certainly the highlight of the film. Just decent, otherwise.
One of the most incompetent films I've ever seen. I loved it.
Kinda boring and long. Not a whole lot of action, and then it just sort of ended. Expected better, honestly.
THE classic October slasher flick. Kids nowadays don't get it, I guess.
A child prodigy-turned-blue-collar-laborer returns to his family home to visit his dying father. This experience doesn't improve him. He doesn't become "rehabilitated". The movie ends with him changed, but just as much of a burn out as he was before. That's the point.
I feel like it tends to miss the forest for the trees, but it wasn't half bad.
Streisand effect got me to watch this one. It seems like such nonsense It really seems worthless to suppress it. I love a good conspiracy theory, and I've seen many relating to the coronavirus, but this is a weak one. Instead of being critical of the WHO or China or any other standard corona conspiracy fare, this magical doctor woman, who has little evidence of anything, knows that the coronavirus was planned (but maybe not created, somehow) to be released either on purpose or on accident (!?) and Dr. Fauci is the mastermind. The ChiComs either went along with this or didn't know, presumably.
The doc is impressive only in how poorly its narrative is structured. It feels like they started making a conspiracy documentary at the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak and just had to guess at what the conspiracy would be. Instead of government overreach, constitutional violations, suppression of dissent, overestimation of risk, coronavirus being a Chinese bio-weapon, and ChiCom corruption of the WHO, which are what the normal conspiracy theories have tended to be (well except the ones that involve 5G kookiness) they went with a Big Pharma is greedy/planned depopulation conspiracy. Not a bad guess, but unfortunately for them, not what the anti-shutdown arguments have been. Upon realizing they took the wrong approach, they played up the liberty angle in post, ultimately creating a jumbled mess of a documentary.
Not very impressive, its only credence ironically comes from its suppression.
Possibly Burr's weakest hour special. Burr has a similar style to Hicks or Carlin in that his jokes are more so humorous statements of truth, than they are jokes. This style of comedy works best when the comic isn't stating the obvious, but Burr's jokes in this special consist of statements already made 200 times prior. Burr might state them more concisely and in a more entertaining style than anyone before him, but that's really the only saving grace of this special; Burr hasn't changed.
Not unfunny or bad in any way, but nothing all that original either. Most enjoyable if you've been living under a rock for 5 years.
To me it was more annoying than anything.
Two word review: "Holy Shit"
Very underrated "last stand" horror movie. Setup is crap, but payoff is well worth it.
The truncated season length definitely helps. I feel like seasons 2 and 3 only had 30 minutes of content per 40 minute episode, most likely due to the longer seasons.
Probably the worst anime ever. Definitely so bad it's good.
